a visit to K Dental Studio

of course everybody knows the importance of oral health. and as i visited a young doctor-entrepreneur in Ortigas, i had so much learned in taking care of my oral health. she is Dr. Karla Domingo, owner and resident dentist of K Dental Studio.
the studio is pretty young and like her, she adapted to the changing needs of her public and may invite potential customers. the reception area for one, is very inviting and cozy and you can relax and read some magazines while you wait for your appointment.
rather than a "dental clinic," she calls it dental studio because you'll have a customized advise from Dr. Karla herself on how you'll get a better smile. when i visited her this morning, she told me about how teeth can be at an unpleasant state. even regular brushing can contribute to damage in your gums, etc.

Dr. Karla specializes in Implant Dentistry, General Dentistry, and Oral Surgery. while you were sitting in the dental chair, you can watch how some procedures are made at the TV beside you. she also puts out the scare from dentists so your children can get their oral health from a nice dentist.

JOHN CARTER movie review

it may be funny with all the hate for Taylor Kitsch referring to his bad airport experience, this guy has been getting lost. and not just locally, i mean, in intergalactic distances. his movie, John Carter, may be one evidence.
this is based from the novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs which Walt Disney has developed into a movie. it's about John Carter who was fugitive in his hometown, Virginia, and accidentally discovered a gateway to another planet.
the said planet is next to the earth known as Mars. but John Carter was told that it was called Barsoom by the locals. here he gets into an epic adventure.

for me, John Carter is a combination of most sci-fi and epic movies. found out resemblances from Star Wars, Xena: The Warrior Princess (Lynn Collins as Princess Dejah Thoris), Independence Day, etc. but i must say that these movie elements weave a good story in John Carter. adventure and action is the main genre of the film and it didn't really focus on the love element but it's something to watch out for, hopefully a sequel is on its way.

CGI effects, puppets and even machines are way too advanced at least for the time of the earth set (1800's) but i'm just not really convinced on the continuity how John Carter was able manage all of his adventures. i guess some scenes are still needed to give background to the character.

Lynn Collins (Princess Dejah Thoris) and Taylor Kitsch (John Carter)
John Carter opens Friday, March 9 in the Philippines.

NOKIA OVI closes on May 30

Nokia Ovi Share -- Nokia users' service to upload videos and photos online will be closing starting May 30. thus, all Ovi users, if you have files stored in your Ovi account, you are requested to download it and put it in another internet folder. that is what i have read in an email i got this morning.

this has been necessary for Nokia because Nokia will be focusing on mobile and location based services. and Ovi will not be a part of this change.

the problem is, i can't even remember what my username and password is. although most of the files are found in my other accounts, i want to revive and keep my Nokia account. this is to have access to other Nokia services in my mobile phone.

right now, i am looking at Nokia Pulse. this is a new feature that found at the Nokia website where Nokia will be able to track your location and even check in with your friends or families. very similar like Foursquare in that sense -- but for Nokia users only. but would this be good? well, you might be very selective of what you will post online. :)

SAM CONCEPCION and NEIL COLETA team up for upcoming movie

i feel so lucky to have an upclose interview with Sam Concepcion and Neil Coleta, two stars from ABS-CBN. the two are on their shoot of an upcoming movie, I Do Bidoo, Bidoo that is targeted to premiere in theaters on the third quarter of 2012.

Sam Concepcion and Neil Coleta
Sam Concepcion is Rock Polotan. raised from the not-so-rich family under Eugene Domingo and Ogie Alcasid. musicality and hardwork is in the genes of the family. however, being the first child of the couple, he accidentally trips down to Tracy Fuentebella (Tippy Dos Santos) whom he got pregnant.

Neil Coleta is Brent, Rock's best friend who stands by him all the time. we didn't have much information on the character but Neil is pretty thankful that he was chosen to be part of the film. known from his stints starting with an iced tea commercial, blessings keep coming in through movies, TV series and the like.
I Do Bidoo, Bidoo is a comedy-musical-drama going around two families: the humble Polotans and the rich Fuentebellas taking care of the struggles of a young nurse, Rocky and his pregnant girlfriend, Tracy. the movie also features songs from OPM legends, the APO Hiking Society weaved in the storyline.

Sam Concepcion is really excited teaming up with Tippy Dos Santos. they are known paired as Peter Pan and Wendy in Repertory Philippines' version of Peter Pan. they have done other projects together but this would be a major one. impregnating a girl in a movie is a new role for Sam. but he takes this as another step in his career and at least he gets versed in different roles. he is willing to get into mature roles but in a wholesome mode. he is also looking forward to working with his brothers, Red and Kevin Concepcion who mostly gets projects in the theater scene.

we also got to see the set of the Polotan residence in Quezon City. characters of the Polotan is noticeable in the house's colorful accentuations and design. Digo Nicio, the production designer, wanted to create pattern over pattern in the walls of the house. twisted 80's design in the realm when APO's songs soared the hit waves. the set is typically Filipino until i saw Rock's room.
jeepney signboards and posters of musicians cover the walls as a regular teenager would do it.

catch more updates about I Do Bidoo, Bidoo, the new movie by Unitel Productions. written and directed by Chris Martinez.

ERICH GONZALES as CORAZON: Ang Unang Aswang

fans of Erich Gonzales and Derek Ramsay are in for a scare in the upcoming movie, Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang. the movie is set to give way to Filipino fiction and will open on March 14 2012 in theaters nationwide.
the movie is about a couple who lives in a very simple area far from modernization and other signs of civilization. in a very desperate time, Corazon (Erich Gonzales) had turned back from God and sold herself to evil. thus, making all the horrors of revenge to people around them. Daniel (Derek Ramsay) makes his way to protect his feelings to Corazon despite what had happened to her. this will also expose viewers of what Filipinos believe in older times -- tiyanak, tikbalangs and the like.

Erich Gonzales and Derek Ramsay
shot in Baras, Rizal, director Richard Somes also narrated that Corazon and Daniel's home were just made from scratch and the story was inspired by different folklores in the Philippines. he himself almost believed in the existence of such creatures which were not really believed today.

the movie is intentionally dark. as what the director has said but to give justice in the despair of our lead characters. he even regarded the good acting skills by his stars, Erich and Derek, being professional and executes their roles well.
a tale of contrasting feelings and beliefs await audiences and fans of Erich Gonzales and Derek Ramsay in the premiere of their latest movie, Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang. filmed by Skylight Films, a new movie arm of ABS-CBN, coming March 14, 2012 in theaters nationwide.

Ateneo BlueRep's BARE: A POP OPERA review

Ateneo Blue Repertory makes their debut show outside of the campus with the 2012 rendition of Bare: A Pop Opera at Teatrino in Greenhills, San Juan City. the show runs from March 1 - 10, 2012 with 3PM and 7PM shows. this is directed by Ana Abad Santos based on the book by Jon Hartmere, Jr. and Damon Intrabartolo.
this is a story of 2 students, Jason and Peter, who are closet lovers inside a Catholic school. Peter (Bibo Reyes) may have wanted to get out of the open but Jason (Jaime Barcelon) stops him from doing so. alone, they do what they have to do -- express their love to each other. Jason really loves Peter but he struggles to protect his manly image. he is chased by girls and he doesn't want to disappoint his parents.

Bibo Reyes (Peter) and Jaime Barcelon(Jason)
to cut the story short, everything will be out in the open. with proper timing and acceptance of themselves, things will eventually work out right.

if you're going to watch the musical, the ensemble is good and there's a quite good set-up on the stage. cathedral-like, giving you the idea of Catholicism and being dogmatic of these types of schools. quite contrary to what's happening on our characters, where this kind of relationships happen. Ateneo, a known Catholic school in the Philippines, had embraced on this reality and i think it's a good decision to give BlueRep the liberty in choosing their productions and their students as well. substance comes first, if i may put it that way.
the songs are also nice. and you have to watch our for Sr. Chantelle and the Virgin Mary. Rem Zamora is powerful! his characters burst out the best lines i heard in the musical. praise be to him!

our main characters, Bibo and Jaime also did well. though i cannot find much of that chemistry portraying the lovers Peter and Jason. they can sing and act all right, however i think passion and engagement between them should be improved. Ivy (Maronne Cruz) and Fat Nadia (Cassie Manalastas) are also two ladies that can give out their character well.
