THE INTERN movie review

There's so much to love about The Intern starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Aside from being starstruck of the two, this flick will make you turn back to old school and appreciate it more with all the  factors happening in the environment. Reminding us the simplicity of life and striving for greatness and love for something intangible in spite of having the things that we want.
In The Intern, Robert De Niro's character, Ben, teaches us how to take things seriously and work hard for something. Taking the risk of applying for the internship, it gets us all excited of whether he would be able to take the job. He also gives life lessons, I wish we could get all of his quotes in the movie and apply it to our own lives. He also reminds us of the respect for the elderly, since they've known more and better than any of us. Of how director Nancy Meyers present his character from start to finish, you'll love and respect to Ben and even to elders because of his good character.

Anne Hathaway (Jules Ostin) on the other hand, reflects the people of today. We want things fast and given to us on the plate, resulting to neglect of the more important things in life. Clashing the characters of the two can leave us with either wtf* or aww moments that should be imbibed and carried on generation after generation. But she is an inspiring boss. Not bossy and develops great rapport with his colleagues and subordinates which I think can be good secrets of raising a company.
Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway
As The Intern is done in corporate setting, we can reflect on proper demeanor in the office as to how to present ourselves and to approach the other people. It's funny that it also gets to tap office romance and politics, opening the doors to how we should respond and resolve corporate issues. Good thing that Ben gained friends in the company.
Adam DeVine, Zack Pearlman, Jason Orley and Robert De Niro
The Intern is now showing in cinemas nationwide, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures (Philippines). Watch and fall in love with the trailer again below.

Blue Water Day Spa introduces new service

I love going to the spa. And to relax from the daily work routine where my mind and body exhausts all my energy, I want to manage stress by going to the spa. Everyday I am exposed to pollution, radiation from the gadgets I face and sometimes, I eat unconsciously to comfort myself. All I'm left to do is go home and sleep and I am not aware that my body has toxins that I need to eliminate.

But now my favorite spa, Blue Water Day Spa, is proud to announce that we can not just relax from the services after a long, tiring day, they now also offer this new service that not just take away stress but also get out the toxins from inside the body. It is the most effective detox management treatment, helping gently remove excess toxins from the body, starting with those that have accumulated in the digestive system.
Therapeutic Colonic Massage (TCM)  is at Php 800 per session
In as little as one session, we can be relaxed and did you know that it also helps in weight loss? This full-hour treatment concentrates on the abdominal area, loosening the hardened blockages in the system through massage. So it's goodbye love handles and hello to sexier you. It is more relaxing with the use of chamomile oil and of course, the calm ambiance of Blue Water Day Spa.

Therapeutic Colonic Massage also finds relief from common digestive problems such as constipation, bloating, gas, abdominal pains and cramps. The gentle boost on the digestive tract realigns organs and helps the body cope with hard-to-digest food. It also helps to improve sleep and restores energy which I know we badly need. Hehehe

During the launch, Blue Water Day Spa celebrity endorsers are happy to grace the event and share their favorite BWDS services. Just hours after the second meet up of ALDUB, Alden Richards and Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza, they teased us again for another endorsement, now for a mobile brand.
The two included in their Instagram and Twitter posts the hashtag #ALDUBforTNT which gives way for them endorsing Talk N Text network.

A photo posted by Alden Richards (@aldenrichards02) on

So when is this new ad going to air? Sa tamang panahon.

The September 12 episode with hashtag #ALDUBTheAbduction also broke the 5M record of #ALDUBBattleForACause in September 5, which garnered more than 6M Tweets and landed #1 trending topic worldwide. We already know that Duhrizz, played by Wally Bayola, was the mastermind of the abductions of Alden and Yaya Dub.

NOLI at FILI 2000 review

Watch PETA's Noli at Fili Dekada 2000 not just for your academic requirements. It should be deeply understood and examined how it concretely reflects the Philippine society as how it was seen by Dr. Jose Rizal during his time.
In this adaptation of Rizal's great novels, it starts with one issue that is greatly attached to us. Flooding caused by illegal logging which happens to be protected by the government and the church which secures personal interests and profit at the expense of the little people. We are also exposed in the wrong doings of those in the people's levels that resembles corruption on so many levels. I just wish that many would be able to watch this.

I like how they started the play with this relevant issue. Water flows like rain from the ceiling and the actors gave an effective visualization and feels of what's going on in an actual flood tragedy. They kept the sense of Noli and Fili, and the actors Lucho Ayala and Kris Bernal playing Ibarra and Clarissa, not only provided the "celebrity" touch to the production, the roles of Rizal's novels were properly internalized.
Lucho Ayala and Kris Bernal
Then the fights were intense. Gun fires are almost realistic with sparks and sounds from the stage. In a way, the audience were captured from every corner of the theater as the cast comes in and go.

With the good production value invested in this, we hope that we will be able to reflect and think about ourselves especially at these times. Put our conscience to what's right and hopefully that the nation will be great again.

PETA's Noli at Fili 2000 will return this October 10 and 11. For tickets, you may call 725 6244 or +639175765400.

2016 9WT Theater treats

9 Works Theatrical teased me a lot in their page on what they'll be having on stage for 2016. Be ready for casting calls for these productions:
If you know these productions, here are the information to confirm your guesses:

AMERICAN IDIOT
Since it's September, Wake Me Up When September Ends would be appropriate to release this teaser. Based on the music from the band, GreenDay, this really excites me to be part of 9WT's theater season.

TICK TICK BOOM
Another Jonathan Larson musical, this autobiographical production would be very relatable to us in terms of career choices.

THE WIZ
A spin-off from The Wizard of Oz, this musical is based from the 1978 film starring Diana Ross. The music is composed of soul sounds and featured all black artists from Hollywood.

We don't have final show dates yet but stay updated by following this blog. There is another show that is produced by 9WT and it "aims to please." It will be running from February to March, in time of love month. If you want to know more, like the 9WT Facebook Page.

Loving this mash up clip.

Have you figured them out? Auditions real soon... #2016Season

NO FILTER 2.0

If you were born before the turn of the millennium, you consider yourself as a Millennial. And you face issues that only you could understand. And these issues will be discussed -- again, in the rerun of The Sandbox Collective's NO FILTER that we'll be looking forward this October 3-25 and will happen at the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati.
Featuring a series of monologues and multimedia performances, the production explores anything and everything millennial—from the evolution of social media, life after college, the woes of work and finding a job, pursuing one’s passions, Tinder, intimacy, finding love, success and happiness, among other issues.

The fun and bubbly cast returns with Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Lauren Young, Saab Magalona-Bacarro, Mikael Daez, Cai Cortez, Sarah Facuri, Micah Munoz, and Khalil Kaimo. They will be joined by Sam Concepcion, Paolo Valenciano and Carla Humphries on stage for new monologues. Take a look at these videos:

With critically acclaimed director, Toff De Venecia still at the helm, No Filter 2.0 promises to be a new and improved version of its widely successful first run—a refined but similarly raw and honest portrayal of what it means to be millennial in this day and age. For tickets and other inquiries, call The Sandbox Collective at 585-6909 or 0917-8996680. Tickets may also be purchased through TICKETWORLD at 891-9999.
