"Barbie Girl" played in the latest trailer of Barbie

The newest trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures' Barbie has been dropped and we get to see Barbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) take on the real world out of curiosity. The exodus from Barbie Land is pure fun with Will Ferrel, America Ferrera and more.
However, the last few seconds of the clip streams a very familiar tune. Check out the trailer below.

Many might be well aware of the beef between British pop group Aqua and Mattel because of the former's song "Barbie Girl" which was categorized as obscene by the latter. It has been a long-time issue between the two but the song has earned a lot in the charts and album sales. Even repeatedly recorded and used in many occasions where the party is. Many would have expected it should be used in this movie (even just as a cover) and WB has heard the fans. We would just like that Mattel and Aqua would come into reconciliation and just move on while they both earn from the rights. ;)

Barbie the Movie opens July 21 in theaters, also starring Simu Liu, Emma Mackey, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Dua Lipa, Helen Mirren and more. Directed by Greta Gerwig.

THE GRAY MAN movie review

Netflix's The Gray Man features two of our favorite actors, Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, throwing punches, kicks and bullets in this high-octane action flick.
Ryan Gosling_The Gray Man
Ryan Gosling plays Six, an ex-convict chosen by the CIA that eventually triggered a worldwide manhunt against him before exposing a top secret information. And to protect a young girl from the group of assassins lead by Lloyd (Chris Evans) who are also in quest for him.

The Gray Man is a film with a simple plot but you'll be served with action-packed sequences. Ryan Gosling could have made his audition as 007 (but he had an inside joke that this was already taken so he chose "Six") because of his intense stunts. From parks to train, even underwater, Gosling has proven his versatility as an actor. Evans was also an effective villain, creating a new page to his portfolio. Also Ana De Armas really goes by her name with her strong kicks and punches in this movie.

The Russo Brothers really did well with The Gray Man that is good for both streaming and theater platforms. We're missing a lot of action movies nowadays so The Gray Man is a great movie to watch on. Grab your popcorns as it streams on Netflix July 22.

BLADE RUNNER 2049 movie review

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. K's discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
This year's Blade Runner film picks up smoothly from the original one but can stand on its own. The lenghty about more than 2 hours gets you at the edge of your seat in anticipation of what's gonna happen next. Be ready of the effects that may surprise or amaze you especially living as a bachelor like Agent K. His dystopic and futuristic world works wonders in terms of anything that enables their race to interact with other kinds. I like Joi's technology and the ability to be with K all the time. I also like Jared Leto's lair as if a different depiction of hell or underworld making his soldiers to rule to world.
There are still more things left hanging that will make us watch out for a Part 3. Apparently, the real villain isn't dead yet, and may be preparing for an army. How will Rick Deckhard make up with his lost child after 30 years separation and how will the world be in the future.

Blade Runner 2049 is now playing in theaters.

LA LA LAND movie review

Bringing in the the classic feels in this movie, La La Land takes you to the nostalgic era with the likes of West Side Story, Grease, Breakfast at Tiffany's and more. It gives that old, romantic feeling but the story is very familiar -- chasing dreams. That's how Mia (Emma Stone) and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) wants us to pursue.
On the third time teaming up with Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone proved that she can be very versatile in trying a musical which did not disappoint. Same goes with Ryan Gosling. Their chemistry is perfect and they make you feel in love in a very light way. Mia and Sebastian tell you a great love story that will keep you hooked on every scene.
La La Land is sort of a very familiar movie to you as it provides scenes that may be reproduced from other great older movies. Each musical sequence is a treasure that came from famous musicals. When you talk about scoring, the opening song is a breath of fresh air. Although in a stressful traffic setting, seeing a beautiful day in front of you and our characters is a cool start. Hear more of La La Land OST here.
Opening scene (Another Day of Sun)
I don't want to spoil the last part for those who haven't seen it yet but it was a quick punch for me. It will leave you exclaiming why such thing happened when all is going perfectly. But one thing I learned is that life still goes on and you'll make regrets but you will be able to remember every bit of your life happily.

La La Land is winner of 7 Golden Globe awards including Best Actor (Ryan Gosling), Best Actress (Emma Stone) and Best Picture and nominated for 14 Academy Awards. Still showing in cinemas.

THE BIG SHORT movie review

So I don't want to pretend that I really like THE BIG SHORT because it has a very intelligent context about the big financial recession of the United States during the late 2000's. I am not very well versed with the stocks, bonds, funds, etc. so it is better for you to have full knowledge of the financial terms to be able to relate much in this movie. But if you really got a hold of your money, this movie is for you.
One reason to watch it maybe is you got Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Brad Pitt showing one by one in the big screen. If you have a fanatic sense with these four, you'll be served well. Their roles are something you've never seen before. They're well, fine, and sometimes giving the feeling that they may be trying to play on you and your money. Admire them for that and the writers as well.

At least they've managed to give the balance among these A-listers and even helped you with a few items if your discombobulating with the terms. You will be surprised as what gives what and in a bit, I liked them all too.
THE BIG SHORT opens January 20. Distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

GANGSTER SQUAD movie review

we're back to post-war period in Los Angeles and Mickey Cohen rules the city in his unruly ways. the life of Mickey Cohen, his gang and the group that led his downfall, is portrayed in Warner Bros. Pictures' GANGSTER SQUAD.
Mickey Cohen, played by Sean Penn, is in the look out by LA police officer Sgt. John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and his secret crew of former officers. the mob king definitely made a fortune in Los Angeles which every citizen grew a scare on him. Mickey Cohen's staff were gone one by one and the victims were rescued.

the process of finding his skilled secret crew is no joke but definitely funny as they get along. brains, fighting skills, gun handling and even staying sleek in suit is a sure requirement for his men.
on the other note, we'll have a romantic angle with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as they deal with the odds as Jerry Wooters and Grace Faraday. it seems that this movie just had to have it.
Josh Brolin for me lacks that kind of charisma to lead the squad. and I'd think that Anthony Mackie and Robert Patrick has more skills than him but he nailed his role punching Mickey Cohen down.

directed by Ruben Fleischer, GANGSTER SQUAD opens in cinemas, January 30, 2013. distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Philippines.
