BULLET TRAIN movie review

A film based on the book of Kotaro Isaka, Bullet Train gives a wonderful and energetic ride that takes us into a high-speed tour of emotions as well. You can't make a full stop as Brad Pitt and his co-stars present an explosive movie set in modern day Japan.
Ladybug (Brad Pitt) hopes to make a peaceful ride inside the bullet train but accidentally gets on collision with determined assassins with connected and conflicting objectives.
The most similar movie I can think of Bullet Train is Kill Bill by Quentin Tarantino. It doesn't hold back on showing the slices, gunshots and blood that almost get out of the screen. But David Leitch assures you that there'll be more. What I love about the movie is that it's injected with dark humor and unexpected twists that you will be hooked from start to finish. Glad that Brad Pitt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Joey King, Brian Tyree-Henry and more pulled of jokes and sinister banters that earns them love and compassion from the audience, at least for me. While I knew that Brad leads the movie, the other characters are lovable to hate.

Colors are so neon almost hypnotizing you to like the movie more aside from giving authentic Japanese vibes. Hot pink, lemon yellow and all you can associate a real Tokyo visual would probably present. Kudos to the production designer for doing a great job.
Bullet Train offers more surprises while it gives great action. There are also cameos that you wouldn't expect to be included which added to the flair that makes it unforgettable. You can't afford a blink of an eye when it's released in theaters August 10, 2022.

THE BIG SHORT movie review

So I don't want to pretend that I really like THE BIG SHORT because it has a very intelligent context about the big financial recession of the United States during the late 2000's. I am not very well versed with the stocks, bonds, funds, etc. so it is better for you to have full knowledge of the financial terms to be able to relate much in this movie. But if you really got a hold of your money, this movie is for you.
One reason to watch it maybe is you got Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Brad Pitt showing one by one in the big screen. If you have a fanatic sense with these four, you'll be served well. Their roles are something you've never seen before. They're well, fine, and sometimes giving the feeling that they may be trying to play on you and your money. Admire them for that and the writers as well.

At least they've managed to give the balance among these A-listers and even helped you with a few items if your discombobulating with the terms. You will be surprised as what gives what and in a bit, I liked them all too.
THE BIG SHORT opens January 20. Distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

BY THE SEA movie review

You may think that Brangelina as the power couple of Hollywood but in BY THE SEA, you will see them as tearing apart. A sad movie for couples but at least By the Sea opens up the resolutions of relationship problems.
At first, you will love at the certain part of France where they shot the movie. The blue waters and tranquil surroundings will make you want to jump out of your seats and dive in it. Not to mention that you already got Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie just around the corner looking at you swim which is just like pure heaven for the fans. Then this very solemn and quiet vacation spot would make it in my bucket list as one of the places where I wanted to go.

In a bit, I got a bit concerned and pity to Brad Pitt's character. You will feel his sorrows with his wife, trying to hide that your relationship is tearing apart, and displaying to everyone being strong and happy. But little actions speak a lot of stories that's why he is noticed by one of his friends.
For a time, I disliked Angelina Jolie. Her character of slowly letting go of her husband for her some desires should not be served as a good example. But then I liked it how they've explained why she came to that point and strongly applauded Brad's character for keeping it intact with his wife. In short, you'll love Brad more here than Angelina. But the magical factor of these A-listers still don't overshadow the storyline that By The Sea aims to give to us.
This romance drama drew a thin line between fiction and reality and should really be seen by couples who are in the edge of breaking up. BY THE SEA is exclusively seen in Ayala Malls Cinemas starting November 18.

WORLD WAR Z movie review

based on a novel by Max Brooks, Brad Pitt takes on the role of Gerry Lane, a former United Nations employee who gets at war with a zombie pandemic and incidentally discovers a temporary treatment for the disease.
in World War Z, Gerry Lane is happy with his family going somewhere until a wave of zombies came attacking the streets and spreading the disease. and government measures of stopping them is intensified to bringing the whole world into a huge warzone. with his inquisitive nature, he was able to observe the occurrences and track a possible "cure" against the pandemic.
when i saw it, though i was not a zombie-flick fan myself, i was really amazed how people can be very creative of how zombies do what they do. their gestures and all, the way they infect and how they'll be eliminated. with this movie, i wasn't loathed with the falling arms and decaying bodies and i was fully aware of the items that go with the undead.
the suspense-factor is tolerable though i was hiding my eyes for a few moments. i tried to get the attention to the plot which i think is pretty good. the movie in 3D is also to watch out due to the artistic special effects. before i didn't had any interest on this movie but seeing it was not a disappointment

WORLD WAR Z opens June 19 in theaters nationwide, distributed by Solar Entertainment Corporation.

RYAN MURPHY interview for EAT, PRAY, LOVE

For Nip/Tuck and Glee creator Ryan Murphy — a man who likes change — discovering the best-selling memoir Eat Pray Love proved a real boon. The 44-year-old filmmaker read the book upon its 2006 release and felt an immediate connection. He’d even go as far as saying that the book altered his life.

“It spoke to me on such a personal level,” begins Murphy, the man who adapted the screenplay and directed the cinematic incarnation starring Julia Roberts. “I read it as a fan, I had just come through a terrible break up, and what it said to me is that it is never too late to reinvent yourself. It is never too late to try to be happy. If you are in a bad relationship try and get out of it and if you don’t like where you are living, try and change it.”

The book, and indeed the film, tells the true-life tale of Elizabeth Gilbert, a successful travel writer who falls out of love with her husband and suffers a painful divorce. Gnawed at by guilt, she takes a year out, heading first to Rome in Italy, where she indulges her passion for food (Eat), then to an ashram in India, where she bids to find a spiritual meaning to her life (Pray), and finally to a familiar haunt in Bali, where, out of the blue, she meets, and falls for, a Brazilian man (Love). It is a hugely popular book, which spent three uninterrupted years on the New York Times best-seller list.

“It is about a general way of living your life. I love the phrase that they’re using to market the movie which is, ‘Let yourself go.’ I know that not everybody can afford to take a year off from work and travel round the world. I can’t. But I don’t think you need to leave your house to try and find something spiritual and find joy. So the book expanded my worldview. It got me out of my shell. It made me feel that it is okay to try something that you are not comfortable with. It did change my life.”

In fact, the book had such a profound effect on Murphy’s life that he adapted a screenplay and ensured that he got the job directing the movie. Murphy already had moviemaking experience, having adapted and directed the film version of Augusten Burrough’s controversial memoir Running with Scissors, although adapting and shooting Eat Pray Love gave him the chance to step up to the next level, to make a truly commercial movie, with a positive message, and to assemble a dazzling array of major movie stars.

Among the impressive supporting cast, Murphy draws performances from Javier Bardem (Liz’s Brazilian love interest), Billy Crudup (her ex-husband), James Franco (a lover who awakens her interest in spirituality) and Richard Jenkins (an older man who encourages her to let go of her guilt), while the role of Liz Gilbert herself is played by one of the biggest movie stars in the world, Julia Roberts, which is something of a coup for Murphy; not since her Oscar-winning turn in Steven Soderbergh’s 2000 drama Erin Brockovich has Roberts appeared in every scene of a film.

“And yet I want to see a movie where Julia Roberts is in every scene,” beams Murphy. “I grew up with Julia Roberts. I love her. I had ideas that I wanted for Julia Roberts in make up, hair and clothes, things that she had never done before.” He laughs. “I think she thinks I am kind of insane because I was so passionate about her, but I also think that she liked the fact that we saw the story in the same way.”

EAT PRAY LOVE sneak peek

#1 NEW YORK BESTSELLER is now a major motion picture!

From producer Brad Pitt and director Ryan Murphy (TV’s Nip/Tuck, Glee) comes Columbia Pictures’ new drama Eat Pray Love starring Academy Award-winner Julia Roberts. The film is based on Elizabeth Gilbert‘s international bestseller of the same title.

Eat Pray Love also stars James Franco (Spider-Man trilogy), Richard Jenkins (TV‘s Six Feet Under), Viola Davis (Nights in Rodanthe), Billy Crudup (Mission: Impossible III) and Oscar-winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men).

In the film, Liz Gilbert (Roberts) is a modern woman on a quest to marvel at and travel the world while rediscovering and reconnecting with her true inner self. At a crossroads after a divorce, Gilbert takes a year-long sabbatical from her job and uncharacteristically steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life. In her wondrous and exotic travels, she experiences the simple pleasure of eating in Italy, the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of love in Bali.

Indeed, there really is more than one way to let yourself go and see the world.

Eat Pray Love is produced by Dede Gardner, with a screenplay by Ryan Murphy & Jennifer Salt. Executive producers are Brad Pitt, Stan Wlodkowski, and Jeremy Kleiner. Director of Photography is Robert Richardson, ASC. Production Designer is Bill Groom. Editor is Bradley Buecker. Costume Designer is Michael Dennison. Music by Dario Marianelli. Music Supervision by PJ Bloom.
