Meet the sexy lifeguards of Baywatch

Three feisty women play iconic roles in the reinvention of the hit 90s series Baywatch into a movie by Paramount Pictures that is set to wash us into the tides on May 31, 2017. Alexandra Daddario, Ilfenesh Hadera and Kelly Rorhbach are the three lifeguards beside Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson) of Emerald Bay.
Who is your favorite lady lifeguard? Know more about them below:

Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas) plays hyper-competent aspiring lifeguard Summer Quinn. “Summer really gives Brody (Efron) a run for his money because she’s smart and tough and really bests him in every interaction,” director Seth Gordon explains.
“It was exciting to read a script with strong, distinct characters with their own personalities,” says Daddario. “I appreciated that every character gets an opportunity to be badass in their own way.”

Daddario was thrilled to reunite with Johnson, her San Andreas co-star. “It’s very cool to be able to say I’ve been in two movies with ‘The Rock,’” says Daddario. “Dwayne is one of the most genuine, kind and hardworking people I’ve ever met, and it’s a joy to work with him.”

“Alex is a fantastic actress and a beautiful person in every conceivable way,” praises Johnson. “She’s whip-smart and funny and always in on the joke.”

Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kelly Rohrbach plays free-spirited C.J. Parker, the role made famous of the legendary Pamela Anderson. The character’s cultural significance was not lost on Rohrbach, a lifelong fan of the series.
“My sisters think it’s hilarious, because Baywatch was the only thing we watched growing up,” Rohrbach recounts. “One of my earliest memories is sucking my thumb and watching Baywatch. It’s such an iconic piece of pop culture. Everybody has a memory attached to it in one way or another, and I loved the script’s cheeky take on the series.”

Like Anderson before her, Rohrbach provides many of Baywatch’s famous slo-mo running scenes. “Something Seth came up with that I think is brilliant is whenever anyone sees C.J. running, she seems to be in slow motion,” says Flynn. “It’s one of the best remembered parts of the show, and I have no doubt they’re going to be some of the best remembered scenes of the movie.”

Ilfenesh Hadera (Showtime’s Billions) plays Stephanie Holden, Mitch’s highly regimented, by-the-book second in command.
“If Mitch is the group’s father figure, Stephanie would be their mom,” says Hadera. “She’s a little older, wiser and there to crack the whip, but also takes the less experienced lifeguards under her wing.”

“Like her character, Ilfenesh is tough and smart, and does her homework,” praises Gordon. “She’s a wonderful actress who I think is going to have a breakout year.”

Baywatch is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR streams first trailer

The first person I saw was the Snow Queen (Elizabeth Mitchell). This first trailer and poster expanding the universe introduced in the hit franchise that electrified the culture and earned $200 million at the worldwide box office, Universal Pictures’ “The Purge: Election Year” reveals the next terrifying chapter that occurs over 12 hours of annual lawlessness sanctioned by the New Founders of America to keep this country great.
It’s been two years since Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) stopped himself from a regrettable act of revenge on Purge Night. Now serving as head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), his mission is to protect her in a run for president and survive the annual ritual that targets the poor and innocent.
But when a betrayal forces them onto the streets of D.C. on the one night when no help is available, they must stay alive until dawn…or both be sacrificed for their sins against the state. Watch the trailer below:
Opening across the Philippines on July 2016, “The Purge: Election Year” is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

THE DANISH GIRL movie review

United International Pictures bring the Oscar-nominated THE DANISH GIRL starting February 3 and it will be exclusively shown in Ayala Malls Cinemas. Nominations include Best Picture, Best Actor for Eddie Redmayne and Best Actress for Alicia Vikander Here's my review for this great movie.
First thing that you'll fall in love with this movie is its cinematography. Great scene with striking colors as if everything looks like a painting. Even for the characters on how each picture is well-composed for the delight of the eye. You will not get bored of each scene and appreciate every picture. It seems that they banked on the professions of the characters as artists so they created each scene with great composition.

Eddie Redmayne established the character very well from the start. The expressions and body language really defined Lili and helping the audience understand the feelings of a person unsure of his sexuality and identity. This makes Eddie Redmayne a very good contender in the Best Actor race
Alicia Vikander's character is one equally great woman. With the consequences of what supposed to be "fun" and "complicated" to her loved one, she managed to be strong and accepted the fate of her husband. It is just right that there's also acceptance with the society they lived in.
The movie started with a little fun but the drama is not too dragging. I think it is an eye candy as you go through scene to scene. Dialogues are simple but the love exchange between Eddie and Alicia's characters are heartfelt and poetic.

The Danish Girl opens February 3 in Ayala Malls Cinemas

The highly acclaimed and Oscar-nominated film, The Danish Girl, starring Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne will be shown in Ayala Malls Cinemas starting February 3, 2016.
Based on the book by David Ebershoff, “The Danish Girl” tells the extraordinary story of Lili Elbe, one of the world's first people to undergo gender confirmation surgery, and the powerful love story of two people who go through Lili's journey together. It movingly portrays a marriage going through a profound transformation.

In 1926 in Copenhagen, artist Einar Wegener (Redmayne) is married to Gerda Wegener (Vikander) and is revered for landscape paintings. Gerda is also an artist, less renowned but steadily working as a portraitist of prominent citizens. Theirs is a strong and loving marriage, yet personal and professional epiphanies have eluded them both.

That all begins to change one day when, on deadline for a portrait, Gerda asks her husband to fill in for a model by putting on a dress so that she can finish the painting. The experience is transformative, as Einar soon realizes that being Lili is an expression of her truest self, and she begins living her life as a woman. Gerda unexpectedly finds that she has a new muse, and renewed creative ferment. But the couple soon brush up against society's disapproval.
They leave their homeland for the more open-minded world of Paris. There, it is Gerda's career that continues to flourish. The couple's marriage evolves - and not without strain. But again and again Gerda supports Lili during her journey as a transgender woman. Through the other, each of them finds the courage to be who they are at heart.

“The Danish Girl” is vying for four Academy Awards, namely Best Actor (Redmayne), Best Supporting Actress (Vikander), Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. At the recently-concluded Golden Globe Awards, the film was nominated for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Original Score. Watch the trailer here:

THE BIG SHORT movie review

So I don't want to pretend that I really like THE BIG SHORT because it has a very intelligent context about the big financial recession of the United States during the late 2000's. I am not very well versed with the stocks, bonds, funds, etc. so it is better for you to have full knowledge of the financial terms to be able to relate much in this movie. But if you really got a hold of your money, this movie is for you.
One reason to watch it maybe is you got Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Brad Pitt showing one by one in the big screen. If you have a fanatic sense with these four, you'll be served well. Their roles are something you've never seen before. They're well, fine, and sometimes giving the feeling that they may be trying to play on you and your money. Admire them for that and the writers as well.

At least they've managed to give the balance among these A-listers and even helped you with a few items if your discombobulating with the terms. You will be surprised as what gives what and in a bit, I liked them all too.
THE BIG SHORT opens January 20. Distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Directed by Stiller, with a screenplay written by Justin Theroux, “Zoolander 2” also stars Kristen Wiig, Penelope Cruz, Will Ferrell, Christine Taylor and Olivia Munn.

SCOUTS GUIDE TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE movie review

If you're still into that Halloween mood and more if you're a zombie flick fan, here's another movie that will not scare you but will gross you out up to your funny bone. SCOUTS GUIDE TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE is kind of another teen flick with the brain-eating twist.
Who knows that being a scout for life can come in handy during a zombie wave? Scout trio, Tye Sheridan (Ben); Logan Miller (Carter), and Joseph Morgan (Augie) comprise a perfect combo for survival. A leader, a funny guy and a die-hard scout makes a good formula for the group. Adding the love interest (Halston Sage) and a hot bad-ass sidekick (Sarah Dumont), what more can you ask for? In this movie, we will be served with life hacks only a true scout will know.
The movie is a great laugh. Catching the suspense more than that of Zombieland, "Scouts" gave it a younger feeling, good for a teen flick but contains mature materials that are very appealing to adults.
SCOUTS GUIDE TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE is Rated R-16 Without Cuts and opens across the Philippines on Nov 11. See the trailer below:

OUIJA cast members encounter fear

Playing Ouija board is one thing that would be last on my things to try out. But for 5 rising Hollywood stars, they have a close encounter with the real thing as they portray their characters in OUIJA.
Producer Andrew Form shares: “We wanted the characters to feel like they were making real decisions. This is difficult to accomplish in a horror movie when your protagonist is walking up the stairs and you know she shouldn’t be. We wanted the audience to feel just as scared as the actors looked.” This makes your Halloween movie a close to reality that will raise the hell out of the audience.

The cast of OUIJA has closely connected with their characters the moment they read the script and filming this was a great fulfillment for director Stiles White. He says, “I was lucky as a first-time director to have a group of performers that got what this movie was and what we were trying to do with it: a group of friends trying to reach out to a lost friend. It was going to be scary, fun and a thrill ride, but they understood that the friendship layer was the foundation of the story.” Cast includes Olivia Cooke, Daren Kagasoff, Douglas Smith, Ana Coto, and Bianca Santos.
Producer Jason Blum sums: “The best scary movies all hinge on the performances. The actors in this movie are strong and believable. I’m looking forward to seeing those performances come to life before an audience.”

Opening across the Philippines tomorrow, Oct. 29, Ouija is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Tour below Paris in As Above/So Below

Who wants to go to Paris? United International Pictures gives all thrill-seekers perfect to haunt you this Halloween. As Above/So Below is a horror/thriller that even I was spooked just watching the trailer by itself.
The story goes around the tour in the Catacombs beneath the glorious streets of Paris. Little that we know about the dark past of the city in which young thrill-seekers are about to experience in this movie. Taking shots were even creepier with the stories of the 220-feet below the ground of Paris.

Leading the cast is Perdita Weeks whose character is to vindicate his father's beliefs about the Catacombs. Director John Erick Dowdle finds Weeks the perfect person for the role as they see her with depth to carry the character. She plays Scarlett, a British scholar of archaeology and rebellious thrill-seeker who is driven by the death of her father.
This is also Weeks' challenging role as she endures hours of makeup and play in the mud for a good chunk of production. She adds: "This was the most physically challenging role I have ever played: from sprinting with heavy cameras and battery packs on my head, to abseiling and crawling through bone tunnels on hands and bruised knees, all the while head to toe in 'blood' and dirt...it was exhausting and exhilarating in equal measure.”
Perdita Weeks in As Above/So Below will be exclusively shown at Ayala Malls Cinemas starting October 22, 2014.
