Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad lead WB's 2016

Save up for these Warner Bros. Pictures offerings for 2016.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.” From director Zack Snyder comes this action-adventure starring Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent in the characters’ first big-screen pairing. Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before. (Opens March 26)
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds. (Opens Nov. 17)
Suicide Squad.” It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself? (Opens Aug. 04)
The Conjuring 2.” Director James Wan brings this supernatural thriller to the screen with another real case from the files of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits. (Opens June 09)
The Legend of Tarzan.” It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Margot Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash. (Opens June 30)
How to Be Single.” New York City is full of lonely hearts seeking the right match, be it a love connection, a hook-up, or something in the middle. And somewhere between the teasing texts and one-night stands, what these unmarrieds (Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson) all have in common is the need to learn how to be single in a world filled with ever-evolving definitions of love. (Opens Feb. 11)
Going in Style.” Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin team up as lifelong buddies who decide to buck retirement and step off the straight-and-narrow for the first time in their lives when their pension fund becomes a corporate casualty. Desperate to pay the bills and come through for their loved ones, the three risk it all by embarking on a daring bid to knock off the very bank that absconded with their money. (Opens May 04)

Me Before You.” “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke stars as Louisa, a quirky and creative 26-year-old whose normally cheery outlook is put to the test when she becomes caregiver and companion to Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a wealthy young banker who became wheelchair bound in an accident two years prior, and whose whole world changed dramatically in the blink of an eye. Embarking together on a series of adventures, both Lou and Will get more than they bargained for, and find their lives—and hearts—changing in ways neither one could have imagined. (Opens June 3)
Lights Out.” From producer James Wan (“The Conjuring”) comes a tale of an unknown terror that lurks in the dark. When Rebecca (Teresa Palmer) left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn’t real when the lights went out…and now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. (Opens July 21)

Sully.” On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the Miracle on the Hudson when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger (Tom Hanks) glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career. (Opens Sept. 08)
Storks.” In this animated comedy, storks deliver babies…or at least they used to. Now they deliver packages for global internet giant Cornerstore.com. Junior (Andy Samberg), the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable and wholly unauthorized baby girl. Desperate to deliver this bundle of trouble before the boss gets wise, Junior and his friend Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain, race to make their first-ever baby drop – in a wild and revealing journey that could make more than one family whole and restore the storks’ true mission in the world. (Opens Sept. 22)
The Accountant.” Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise. (Opens Oct. 19)
Bastards” focuses on two brothers (Ed Helms, Owen Wilson) whose eccentric mother (Glenn Close) raised them to believe their father died when they were young. When they discover this to be a lie, they set out to find their real father, learning more about their mother than they probably ever wanted to know. (Opens Nov. 09)

Untitled Todd Phillips Film.” Based on a true story, the adventure comedy follows two friends in their early 20s (Jonah Hill and Miles Teller) living in Miami during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a $300 million deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government. (Opens Aug. 24)
In “Midnight Special,” writer/director Jeff Nichols proves again that he is one of the most compelling storytellers of our time, as a father (Michael Shannon) goes on the run to protect his young son, Alton (Jaeden Lieberher), and uncover the truth behind the boy’s special powers. (Opens April 13)

Unforgettable.” Katherine Heigl stars as Tessa Connover, who is barely coping with the end of her marriage when her ex-husband becomes happily engaged to Julia Banks (Rosario Dawson)—not only bringing Julia into the home they once shared but also into the life of their daughter. Trying to settle into her new role as a wife and a stepmother, Julia believes she has finally met the man of her dreams, the man who can help her put her own troubled past behind her. But Tessa’s jealousy soon takes a pathological turn until she will stop at nothing to turn Julia’s dream into her ultimate nightmare. (Opens Nov. 30)

The Danish Girl opens February 3 in Ayala Malls Cinemas

The highly acclaimed and Oscar-nominated film, The Danish Girl, starring Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne will be shown in Ayala Malls Cinemas starting February 3, 2016.
Based on the book by David Ebershoff, “The Danish Girl” tells the extraordinary story of Lili Elbe, one of the world's first people to undergo gender confirmation surgery, and the powerful love story of two people who go through Lili's journey together. It movingly portrays a marriage going through a profound transformation.

In 1926 in Copenhagen, artist Einar Wegener (Redmayne) is married to Gerda Wegener (Vikander) and is revered for landscape paintings. Gerda is also an artist, less renowned but steadily working as a portraitist of prominent citizens. Theirs is a strong and loving marriage, yet personal and professional epiphanies have eluded them both.

That all begins to change one day when, on deadline for a portrait, Gerda asks her husband to fill in for a model by putting on a dress so that she can finish the painting. The experience is transformative, as Einar soon realizes that being Lili is an expression of her truest self, and she begins living her life as a woman. Gerda unexpectedly finds that she has a new muse, and renewed creative ferment. But the couple soon brush up against society's disapproval.
They leave their homeland for the more open-minded world of Paris. There, it is Gerda's career that continues to flourish. The couple's marriage evolves - and not without strain. But again and again Gerda supports Lili during her journey as a transgender woman. Through the other, each of them finds the courage to be who they are at heart.

“The Danish Girl” is vying for four Academy Awards, namely Best Actor (Redmayne), Best Supporting Actress (Vikander), Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. At the recently-concluded Golden Globe Awards, the film was nominated for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Original Score. Watch the trailer here:

THE BIG SHORT movie review

So I don't want to pretend that I really like THE BIG SHORT because it has a very intelligent context about the big financial recession of the United States during the late 2000's. I am not very well versed with the stocks, bonds, funds, etc. so it is better for you to have full knowledge of the financial terms to be able to relate much in this movie. But if you really got a hold of your money, this movie is for you.
One reason to watch it maybe is you got Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Brad Pitt showing one by one in the big screen. If you have a fanatic sense with these four, you'll be served well. Their roles are something you've never seen before. They're well, fine, and sometimes giving the feeling that they may be trying to play on you and your money. Admire them for that and the writers as well.

At least they've managed to give the balance among these A-listers and even helped you with a few items if your discombobulating with the terms. You will be surprised as what gives what and in a bit, I liked them all too.
THE BIG SHORT opens January 20. Distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.
