the Quezon City Symphonic Band

August 21 is a very significant day for Filipinos because this was the death anniversary of a very significant figure in the Philippine History: Ninoy Aquino, whom with his wife, the late former president Cory Aquino, has brought democracy back to all of us and ousted the dictatorship of a former leader. August 21 has also been chosen by Araneta Center to be the date of looking back to the Filipino roots by bringing us the artistry and grandeur of our talents, one of which is the Quezon City Symphonic Band.

the Quezon City Symphonic Band was formed more than 2 decades ago and they have been composed of woodwinds, brass and percussion instruments and passed generations of musicians of Quezon City. at the August 21 event, we are very fortunate to witness their talent as they play numerous songs and medleys composed by other musicians and themselves.

Julian Felipe's rendition of the Philippine National Anthem Lupang Hinirang was indeed played as it should be:

and for a special number, they have a rendition of a number of 80's songs with Thriller, Wind Beneath My Wings, and others:

other performances were a selection of songs from the 70s, love songs and even liturgical shows. sorry if i haven't recorded them, my battery went empty and memory wasn't enough. LOL

Showbiz 101 with Chiz Escudero

i've got to meet Senator Chiz Escudero and he is so cool. he is easy to get along with with his koboy personality. there might be less things we know about the senator and i was shocked that he also has this showbiz side as most of us possess. indeed a very filipino characteristic.

upon our arrival, we were so shocked for the arrival of Chiz himself because we didn't expect that he was the one who will step down from his vehicle and even the first one to approach us and give us a nice gesture. i almost backed out from where i stand but my interests to meet and know the politician more and his other side has overpowered my shyness.

we asked his regular routine after taking the hectic and brain-draining senate sessions. he usually goes straight to his room, change his clothes to his home attire, click the button to news or sometimes, movies. he usually tunes it to Cinema One. we never knew this showbiz side of Chiz Escudero.

when asked about his favorite movie genre, he told us that we wants to become a leading man in a love story. like a matinee idol. he even wants to become Kristine Hermosa's leading man -- maybe stealing away Jericho Rosales' role, eh. lolz. his wife even named Christine.

without mentioning any idol, he wants to portray his own style in acting. but he admits to himself that he doesn't have any talent in entertainment so that all falls into his dreams.

he never declared that he's a kapuso or a kapamilya. but he likes today's Darna. and speaking of superheroes, he prefers to be Superman with his X-ray vision; we never asked further.

regarding to Bamboo, who was often played to be his look-alike, he didn't mind being called by that. in fact, he never knew him then, but it would be a win-win situation for both of them if they would hang out together.

he personally updates his Twitter account so we are guaranteed that he is the one who exchanges thoughts with those following him. our time is not enough to ask more questions about Chiz, but if he let's it full blast, he wants to have a one-on-one interview with Kris Aquino herself. besides, Noynoy and him are close friends.

Mars Ravelo's Pinay super heroine returns to Philippine television with another adaptation of Darna. now featuring premiere talent, Marian Rivera, playing as Narda and Darna.

The Hangover movie review

how do you like to enjoy the biggest vice in life? all can be found in one place: it's Vegas baby! and 4 friends, Doug, Stu, Allan and Phil had the best ride of their life. but one thing went wrong, they lost Doug and they can't remember anything. and worst of all, it's Doug's wedding very soon.

they went out with Doug to Vegas for an all boys night out as a bachelor gift. they sure had the time of their life until they knew they've been on a very big mess. so they tried to trace everything they've been and managed to find clues that will track them to Doug who was all the time just at the top of the Caesar's Palace.

The Hangover is really a feel good and really hilarious movie. not just a big trip in Vegas but also give you an overview of what to do and what REALLY not to do there. i mean, you can have the time of your life but be responsible of yourself.

if you want to laugh your heart out, you better watch this movie. you can forget all your worries. catch it on cinemas on August 12 2009.
