Experiencing “Milestone Anxiety”? tick, tick…BOOM! is your safe space

According to ExploringYourMind.com, milestone anxiety is defined as “the psychological pressure that people experience when they perceive that they haven’t yet met many of their expectations and life goals.” Some life milestones include buying a home, getting married, having kids and more. Just last year, UK-based organization Relate discovered that this milestone anxiety is rising among millennials and Gen Z members. The early 30s seem to be a real “crunch point”—by age 30, young adults are expected to have their lives together.

There’s a musical that says it all—one that was written decades ago, but is still relevant to our milestone anxiety-ridden generation.

tick, tick…BOOM! is a musical created by Jonathan Larson (Rent). It’s the story about a group of twenty-somethings trying to find their way in ‘90s New York.

Main character Jon is a struggling composer, who is days away from turning thirty. He can’t help but hear that internal ticking of the clock: he doesn’t want to turn a year older with nothing to show. His girlfriend, Susan, wants to leave New York to start a family and establish a stable career in the suburbs. Adding to the pressure is his best friend and ex-theater buddy, Michael, who convinces him to join the marketing industry instead and lead a more comfortable life.

This musical continues to be #relatable even (and especially) among younger audiences because of its truthfulness. Larson actually drew inspiration from his own personal struggles and relationships; he was a young adult trying to make a name for himself as a composer in the 80s. Larson would eventually enjoy critical acclaim and worldwide success for his later work, Rent, but only posthumously. He died days before his 35th birthday, one day before Rent’s first preview performance.

While this play resonates with young adults, it’s not for them alone. People of all ages—or anyone who’s ever heard that (dreadful) internal “tick…tick…tick…”—will find comfort in Larson’s award-winning musical. 9 Works Theatrical’s restaging of the three-person musical will showcase the talents of young adult stars: Jef Flores and Khalil Ramos (alternating as Jon), Tanya Manalang and Kayla Rivera (alternating as Susan), and Vien King and Reb Atadero (alternating as Michael). Owing to the beauty of theater and the life experiences that each of the artists will bring to the table, the incredible cast is ready to tell this poignant story about growing old, growing up, growing anxious–and ultimately, growing together.
tick, tick…BOOM! is directed by Robbie Guevara, with Daniel Bartolome as musical director, JM Cabling as choreographer, Mio Infante as scenographer, Shakira Villa-Symes as lighting designer, Bam Tiongson as Sound Designer, Myrene Santos as hair and makeup designer, Marlito Ambrocio as technical director, Ian Cartalaba as costume supervisor, and JV Rabano as photographer.

foodpanda, NBA team up for electrifying Ball Like a Panda activities

Leading online food and grocery platform foodpanda recently rounded up a series of activities as part of its ongoing partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA).
As NBA’s first Official Online Food Delivery Platform Partner in the Philippines, foodpanda co-hosted various NBA tentpole events and launched promotions providing foodpanda app users the chance to win bona fide NBA prizes and exclusive perks.

during the NBA Finals Game 4. The event was held last June 10 to 11, 2023, at Eastwood
Central Plaza, which offered a variety of fan activities and treats for viewers. While watching the
game, attendees enjoyed free meals, popcorn, pink cocktails, customizable NBA co-branded
shirts for pandapro subscribers, and assorted Pau-Pau merchandise.

The event was also attended by celebrities and influencers, including JV De Vera, Prince
Carlos, Gab Lagman, and Ayn Bernos taking part in showing what it means to “Live like a
panda.”

Ball Like a Panda 3x3 Basketball Tournament
Lastly, foodpanda launched its first ever 3-on-3 basketball tournament with special participation
from celebrities (Rayver Cruz, Gab Lagman, Eric “Eruption” Tai, Mikee Reyes, Wilbert Ross, Juancho Triviño, Prince Carlos, and Prince Clemente) and Ka-pandas (John Rene Alcanzo, Leonnel Clint Baldo, Jeffrey Diaz, Jason Carl Baldo) who put their game faces on and heightened everyone’s spirits.

In this most-awaited Pau-tastic match, four teams participated in a series of games, while registered guests visited exciting booths and enjoyed food and refreshments throughout the event. Aside from the main 3-on-3 event, the audience also joined fun side activities to receive exclusive NBA x foodpanda merchandise.
In an intense but friendly game, the 4 teams bested each other with their basketball skills and Delivery Dunkers led by Eric Eruption Tai, emerged as champions. Pointguard Prince Carlos was also named as the game's MVP.

Should any temperature imbalances occur, the system automatically selects which indoor units to operate cooperatively. As the cooling or heating load decreases, the cooperating units are automatically turned off, while the Multi V i continues to run optimally. This AI-based operation mode helps to bring thermal comfort to every corner of the building.

Optimizing Indoor Comfort with Intelligent Outdoor Adaptation
The temperature and humidity outside can have a significant impact on indoor thermal comfort. In a landmark speech today at the LG Sciencepark in Seoul, South Korea, CEO William Cho outlined the bold vision built on three growth engines: pursuing new platform based service businesses through advancement of business portfolio, accelerating business-to-business (B2B) and exploring new business areas such as electronics vehicle charging and digital health. The CEO identified electrification, servitization and digitalization as key inflection points LG will focus on to achieve rapid mid- to long-term growth.

“LG will continue to pursue its bold vision to transform and leap forward as a smart life solutions company that connects and expands customers’ various spaces and experiences, rather than resting on its current position as the best home appliance brand that provides quality products,” said CEO Cho. “We will establish a brand-new LG by reinventing the way we work and communicate toward this goal.”

The CEO also highlighted the company’s financial objectives. “We will achieve Triple 7, which encompasses an average growth rate and operating profit of 7 percent or more as well as enterprise value to EBITDA ratio of 7,” said the CEO. “With the goal of raising sales from KRW 65 trillion last year to KRW 100 trillion by 2030, we will establish ourselves as a company that is properly recognized by the market and customers.”
Cho said LG will focus on the transition to the platform based service business model, acceleration of B2B areas and procurement of new growth engines based on competitive edge as three pillars to focus on customer experience. By 2030, the proportion of these three pillars in sales and operating profit is expected to increase to more than 50 percent.

The company plans to invest more than KRW 50 trillion by 2030 for the qualitative growth of the business, including the advancing of the business portfolio led by the three new growth engines. This includes an R&D investment of more than KRW 25 trillion, facility investment of more than KRW 17 trillion and strategic investment of KRW 7 trillion.

The company is also accelerating the expansion of its B2B business, the CEO explained. LG’s rich understanding of customers as well as the know-how to communicate and empathize with customers that have been accumulated in the B2C business, which has seen continuous innovation over the past 65 years, will be fully expanded to commercial, mobility and virtual spaces.

Cho highlighted how LG is accelerating company-wide changes from corporate culture to brand communication at every customer contact point with the ultimate goal of becoming a brand that warms the hearts of customers and puts smiles on their faces while enabling customers to feel the value and philosophy of Life’s Good. The company is also driving ESG management activities to fulfill its responsibilities as a global corporate citizen.
