J. EDGAR movie review

J. Edgar is a movie on the life of renowned FBI director John Edgar Hoover. held the position under 8 administrations in the United States, J. Edgar had made amazing reforms and organizations in the national security agency.
the dedication of J. Edgar Hoover in his work gave amazing results in solving crimes and even strengthening national security. but in this movie, you'll witness a balance in J. Edgar's rise and fall as the director of FBI and as an individual. almost full of the story discusses how he narrated his life and his interest in national issues on how to control the uprising of communist parties and the liberation of US citizens. on the other hand, however, controversies that came his way. especially to his rumored relationship with Clyde Tolson, whom he made his assistant and partner in the FBI. this somewhat exposed the dusty roads of the institution.
there are quite of lessons in J. Edgar especially in political respect aspects. J. Edgar never see seniority as an advantage to overpower incoming presidents. he regarded them with due respect and followed standard operations as mandated by law. his recommendations as an FBI director somehow helps us today even in other parts of the world.

on production notes, the make up work is very good but the voice didn't work it when J. Edgar aged. but director Clint Eastwood should be applauded for a balanced delivery of drama in this very interesting cut.
J. Edgar gives us a glimpse of some unsung history of the United States but will deliver good messages for us that will inspire us to be vigilant in our own country. presented by Warner Bros. Pictures, this movie will be in Philippine theaters, January 24, 2012.

No Other Good Man but Charlie Brown!

who wouldn't forget 5 kids and a dog who communicates like adults and talks about the way of life. from the famous comics Peanuts by Charles Schulz, 9 Works Theatrical brings to life Lucy, Schroeder, Linus, Sally, Snoopy and Charlie Brown in the musical loved by kids and kids at heart, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
an attempt into children's theater by the 9 Works team, executive producer Santi Santamaria talks about choosing the musical in the line up of plays set for 2012.

with 15 songs in the lives of the 5 kids, people who will watch it will look at life in a different way. thanks to the optimism of Charlie Brown -- who will be played by Robby Guevarra. as he knew that Charlie Brown will be staged by 9 Works, he never let anyone get the role but himself, as this is part of him growing up. getting back on stage are 2 known personalities, Tonipet Gaba playing Schroeder and Sweet Plantado as Sally. after taking the hibernation from the theater world, they are delighted to join the cast. here's a video of one song, also my favorite from the line up, "My New Philosophy."

joining them are veteran theater actors Carla Laforteza as Lucy, Franco Laurel as Linus (Toff Devenecia alternates) and Lorenz Martinez as Snoopy. this is directed by the "stellar" Michael Williams.
starting February 11 to March 3, 2012. enjoy the fun with the characters we grew up on. brought to us by 9 Works Theatrical, the show will be at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City.

ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED movie review

you got 6 chipmunk superstars on board a cruise ship. trust is a good issue for Dave Seville and he didn't feel the biggest danger that might happen to the mischievous creatures in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked!
Alvin has brought all the other singing chipmunks, Simon, Theodore, Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor into nowhere after accdidentally gliding in a kite to an unknown island. lucky they have Dave Seville who acts as their father who insistently searched for them. but as they are trapped in that lone island, their "urbanized" cultures where slightly transformed into their natural instincts. it's fight for survival for the six animals until they have discovered that they are not alone. more adventures are in store for them as they wander in the island.
with the very unfortunate incident, there have been a few but major changes in our characters. an epiphany to Alvin who was before the famous one become the responsible one. anyhow, Eleanor and Theodore are still the cutest of the chipmunks.

trailers have revealed some songs used but i didn't expect that they'll use Survivor by Destiny's Child. i was thinking about it and it was justified. also, more i think 2 of Lady Gaga songs were interpreted here in the movie. even a mash-up by 3 other songs by Katy Perry.
see the full trailer of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED! after the jump.

thank you to 20th Century Fox for bringing again our cutest creatures in the theaters, starting January 8, 2012 in the Philippines.

SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS movie review

the tandem of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law returns to the big screen in the new adaptation of the world-famous detective in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, opening on January 8, 2011 in Philippine theaters.
a new adventure await our tandem preventing a heinous crime plotted by a great professor, James Moriarty (James Harris). perfect timing for Watson's wedding, Holmes drags him to stop this incident and save quite a wide number of the human race.
Sherlock Holmes got new strategies and tactics, maintaining his humorous approaches -- and that's what Watson really like about him, intelligent, consistent and spontaneous, making him his best man for the wedding.

there are a lot of new interesting things in this movie. it's cleaner, a few new tricks used and cooler slow-motions scenes are projected in the second installment. crisp visuals like blasts and chipping wood give us a sense of great danger as you draw yourself into the movie. i also liked the computer generated graphics and it is exciting as the first one but with more unexpected twists. you will be guaranteed with a next sequel.
below is the trailer of SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS opening in theaters January 8 2012 in the Philippines. brought to us by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Entertainment Company.
