i was just informed this morning that a terrible thing happened in my school. students are in outrage behavior starting to walk out from classes and threw out chairs and tables out from the classrooms. this is a barbaric attitude and should not be tolerated.
they are opposing the increase in tuition fee, originally Php 12 per unit. for a full load of 24 units, you can enroll yourself for about Php 500 per semester. a very cheap price for college education. lately, the PUP administration has decided to increase it to Php 200 per unit making the tuition fee soar up to more or 2000% per semester.
PUP is a state-university with students paying little for university education. i really don't know if it's really true that students came from poor families. as for my stay at PUP, i can see students with gadgets even more updated than the professors and PUP employees. they are more trendy when it comes to fashion, accessories and technology but i am so disappointed that they are resolving such cases to violence.
so who's to blame? all three sectors involved actually. and i've got words to tell them:
government. i believe it's in your programs to provide good quality education. IT SHOULD BE THERE! we don't have to beg for it. supply a good subsidy on education in order to improve the education in the country. not that PUP students are less fortunate, believe me, they all want to have a better life ahead of them. if you don't want scenarios like this, know what you have to provide. it wouldn't happen in places where huge cases of graft and corruption is taking place. please be OF SERVICE to the people as what you've promised while you were campaigning. make our country a better place to live so that great minds wouldn't leave the country. we have gotten so behind! let's make actions so that we can stand on our own.
the state universities admins. please represent the students. not that you are there to work but to take care of them. once you accepted an applicant in the university, hone them as your child, a part of your family. you also don't want this kind of scenario. it's like putting them into a good school. also one thing, if in case the increase is irrevocable, don't astound us with such an increase. make it gradual so that everybody can adjust.
the students. you are the victims. but you also have to know that you have to prepare yourself. you can't pay the tuition if you are an academic scholar. study hard, work hard. you'll get what you deserve. what you've done to our school is a very barbaric activity to be frank. you caused a lot of damages that lessened the facilities that we are enduring for a long time. it's not fair to the students who wants to study peacefully. you've made a negative mark to the public. and talk to the admin in a diplomatic way. you are not in school to be trained to do such things but to be civilized people. you know the consequences.
also live within your means. your parents are also working hard for your future. you know that.
i hope i had lessons shared here. i may not give in detail the technical and lawful things here, i hope in layman's terms you understood what i've just said.
working in the media industry has a lot of perks. i get advanced news on upcoming events, and by the time i get to know that Timbaland is coming again here in Manila -- not to mention that he will be with Justin Timberland and Jojo, two of my most favorite foreign artists -- i really got excited! HONESTLY!
i asked my colleague that if we have tickets to the concert, yeah but they will be for sale. i also asked her that if i could reserve some tickets, and i thought I REALLY SHOULD. but then, they were sold out. i regret that i will miss another great concert. :(
but one friend of mine, Azrael, is so generous to give away tickets to the said concert. from his post, he will be giving away BRONZE ticket and one from the VIP section. i would worship him if he will give the VIP ticket to me! hahaha
so az, better give me that VIP or else! lolz
in case of acquiring that golden ticket, i should ready my playlist soon to get along with that partyin'. i should thank azrael for bringing the contest up and blogbank for sponsoring the tickets.
lot's of insights are given in my first BusinessWorld Student Forum entitled, Philippine Agenda 2010: The Millennium Development Goals held at De La Salle University. thank you for the participation of UN MDG campaign supported by NEDA and YouthVote Philippines. this is so much in-line with the election fever going on here in the country.
Ms. Dulce Saret from the UN Millenium Development Campaign gave everyone an overview on the Millennium Development Goals namely, 1. Eradicate Extreme Hunger and Poverty, 2. Universal Education, 3. Gender Equality, 4. Child Health, 5. Improve Maternal Health, 6. Combact HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other sicknesses, 7. Environmental Sustainability and 8. Global Partnership; how it was formulated, the concerns, the programs and the reasons behind of developing it.
Mr. Ramon Falcon of NEDA provided data on Philippine Development as regards to the MDG campaign. it's sad to see that by our MDG deadline on 2010, we still have a long way to do such projects that will help eradicate poverty.
Mr. Jaime Garchitorena of YouthVote Philippines inspired us to VOTE for OURSELVES. though candidates are laying in their programs against poverty, he instilled in our minds that we should have keen eyes to see if these candidates will surely do their parts after being elected.
the end of the campaign will be on 2015. there are ongoing programs in order to achieve the 8 Millennium Development Goals. but on May 10 2010, Filipinos should do their part in order to choose the right person.

the young multi-awarded actor John Lloyd Cruz not just make us laugh or squeeze empathy from the audience from each movie that he does, he also makes sure that we are in good health. trusting Biogesic, the country's leading headache and fever reliever, he shares to us his moments with the known brand.
with his hectic and tiring schedule as an actor, he still manages to be healthy. and he is taking Biogesic to relieve out of the stressful activities. and it is not just John Lloyd Cruz who is privileged to know the power of Biogesic, he wants us fans to know its benefits. the phrase "Ingat!" definitely coined with the actor and Biogesic.
Biogesic also supports the actor in his activities. with his latest box-office movie, Miss You Like Crazy, John Lloyd plays a serious man falling in love with a playful girl played by Bea Alonzo. getting a girl is really a tough thing to do and it gives you headaches. and worse, torn between two ladies added the problems he is taking in. so taking a dose of Biogesic really takes the pain away.
if you haven't seen Miss You Like Crazy yet, you better should. it is now playing for two weeks and hitting the cinemas.
there are lots in store for you every time you visit a museum. i have been in different museums all over Manila and each one gives a different perspective and addition to the knowledge that i read on books. i think everyone grew up with acceptable facts, but less we know of the other things from the perspective on the other side of the story.
the Lopez Museum and Library offers that. unfolding half a century of the Lopez Museum and Library, it doesn't only display a wide appreciation in arts and crafts but a story within that piece of article can be told. the fine pieces of art collected by Eugenio Lopez Sr. reflects the history and experiences of the Filipino people starting from the Spaniards era. both positive and negative perspectives of history includes suggestions from the artists' point of view. this collection is entitled AFTER THE FACT.
on display right now are different works by Juan Luna, Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo, and Fernando Amorsolo. and there are pieces in "other perspective" and take from contemporary artists. details are further explained and will be understood by visiting guests.
like the famous EspaƱa y Filipinas by Juan Luna, we can see that two mother lands (as Spain and Philippines), look forward to a brighter future. a promise of Spain to Philippines of a greener pasture with beautiful roses in it. Juan Luna implied that the Philippines will be stepping on roses thorns as it continues to be under the power of colonizing Spain. Juan Luna was known as a propagandist, side by Jose Rizal and others.
speaking of Rizal, there are other documents that are displayed in the Lopez Museum. books and pictures that have been part of history will provide us a glimpse of another history.
history, heritage and art are combined inside Lopez Museum. a reasonable price of Php 100 upon entrance gives access to the galleries and the library. this can be another addition to destinations during field trips and even if you just want to visit it with a small group.
