History Unknown Rediscovered

we have been told that our history is very violent especially when we see those documentaries and photos from the history books. museums and literature expose the darkness that our ancestors experience under the hands of the colonizers. they suffered a lot in pursuit of liberty and our poor ancestors only had bolos and itak to fight against them. while the colonizers had guns and canons to destroy our barracks.

but then, we can not say that we know everything. some stories that are written maybe very different from what our grandpas and grandmas say. let us also take account from firsthand sources like them. others might only just say the wins but not the losses. if we could only see and feel their experiences, we might think that much have been hidden from us. these accounts can be seen at some exhibits and museums around Manila.

Miss Janette Toral has visited these exhibits and shares what she had discovered that are indeed what we really don't know.

visiting the Zero In museums gave her an eye-opener towards the events that would greatly influence those who are able to see it.

other galleries that would educate us are the Ateneo Art Gallery, the Lopez Memorial Museum and the Museo Pambata. these exhibits are ongoing right now featuring the accounts that might enhance and gain more knowledge so we can better understand the history that had been hidden from us.

GMA and Sexbomb girls educate people for 2010 automated elections

GMA Network has launched yesterday the video of a campaign that will educate Filipino voters in preparation for the May 2010 national elections. the song is entitled Bilog Na Hugis Itlog which signifies the circles on the ballot that should be shaded to vote for your bets. the video features the Sexbomb girls, known for their novelty songs, Ispageti, Halukay Ube and stars of their own show which have been running for several seasons already, Daisy Siete, also in the same network.

below is the video which i got from Youtube, and lyrics shared by andiandandy:

May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
Mare, mare, may ikukuwento ako sa 'yo, puwede?
Oo naman mare! Puwede!

Sayaaaang!

Balota mo'y alagaan, boto'y makapangyarihan
Huwag gusutin o dungisan upang tiyak na mabilang
Ang boto mo, boto mo, makapangyarihan
Pumili tayo ng tuwid, ng may paninindigan

Tunay na lider na magsisilbi sa bayan
Yan ang kailangan, kailangan ng bayan
Isang Presidente, Bise Presidente
Mga Senador, puwede hanggang dose
Isang Congressman at isang Party List lang
Huwag na, huwag nang dagdagan
Isang Mayor, may Vice Mayor
At kung ilang Konsehal kailangan
Isang Gobernador, at kanyang Bise

Aw!

TWO LOVERS movie review

have you ever felt choosing between two persons: someone you love and someone who loves you? and when you decided to go for the person you love, it turns out that the person is not going for you. you made all efforts to be with that person and even lied to the other just for the sake that you don't want to hurt her feelings.

that's the plot of this story Two Lovers starring Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow. Joaquin Phoenix plays an aspiring photographer who just came from a heartbreak thus being set up by his parents to a family friend, Sandra (Vinessa Shaw). not really getting interested with her, he finds Michelle (Paltrow), a neighbor who happens to be also involved with another man. but Michelle struggles in the relationship because the man she's with is not yet divorced with his wife. Phoenix, on the other hand, gives his concern and professes his love to Paltrow to a crazy extent of asking her to marry him. but unexpectedly, Paltrow's wishes to be with the other man is granted thus leaving Phoenix depressed -- resulting to coming back to Shaw.

a very timely story about love and its consequences. you might be interested with the cheesy scenes from the movie and the crazy stuff that guys might do in fighting for love but ends in an unsuccessful attempt.

I love Makati

i've spent my 4 years working in Makati. and within those years, i think i have rolled across every street. i have survived the busy setting and Makati has helped me through it. parties going around the vicinity of Makati Business district and not to mention great places for shopping with lots of good bargains.

what are the things to see in Makati? you can find almost everything there --

if you're looking for a job, the main offices of the top corporations are located in the Makati Business district. you won't get lost because the friendly security guards and policemen are ready to point to you the right direction to where you are heading.

if you search for great food, everything from street foods to fancy are in the list. you can have Filipino, American, Chinese, Italian... i mean, the list is endless. for people in the rush, convenience shops can be found in many corners.

Makati is already near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport so tourists can check in at the various hotels within the area. condo units are also available to those who want to live near their workplaces.

i'm sure you have more reasons than i have posted above. why don't you share it through video and share it by joining the I Love Makati Video Contest. a contest open for everyone who live or visiting Makati. by joining this contest, you are also promoting tourism in Makati and also the Philippines.

this contest is made possible by Jupiter Suites and Budget Travels Philippines.

--UPDATE--
the contest has been extended to December 30! and for those who want to join the contest, a video shoot will be held on December 19 2009 (Saturday). interested participants will assemble at Jupiter Suites in Makati City and will proceed to the various spots where shooting permit is allowed. be there with your friends by 830AM and capture yourself or your subject on why you love Makati.

you can also check the I Love Makati website to get raw video footages if you want to join the contest. you can use these videos as to compose your entry to the I Love Makati contest.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL resounds in the big screen

Walt Disney is bringing us an animated adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel A Christmas Carol. Jim Carrey stars as the grumpy, old and with no Christmas-spirit, Ebenezer Scrooge -- haunted by three Christmas spirits: Past, Present and Yet to Come.

as the story goes, Ebenezer never celebrated Christmas for he only knows what he wants -- to gain fortune. he worked hard to achieve it and forgotten the time of the year when everyone is merry, regardless of their status in life. he lived this life along with his partner, Marley, who died by the opening of the story. seven Christmas Eves later, the three spirits visited him and showed him his past Christmas experiences, what was happening on the day he lives, and what would happen after.

of course Scrooge was scared the time the ghost of Christmas Yet to Come showed him the series of events happening in the future. this he realized that no one truly cared about him and the bad effects which he should have helped during the time he lived. he changed his behavior when he woke up and lived a happy, festive Christmas time.

Robert Zemeckis did an excellent job doing the movie. but you watch the movie as it is, it might not be appreciated by children in general. the deep sense of the story might leave children asking how and why. the story is a little bit on a very serious tone.

the movie can also be seen in 3D IMAX theaters. if you want to catch it, it will be showing on December 2.
