Turn Ideas into Action: Submit Your Entries for the 2025 LG Ambassador Challenge

Building on its strong commitment to driving positive change in communities since 2022, LG is excited to announce that entries for the 2025 LG Ambassador Challenge have officially opened on March 13, 2025. Led by LG Philippines in partnership with Korean Food for the Hungry International (KFHI), and Community Chest of Korea (CCK), this global program reflects LG’s dedication to empowering local communities and supporting sustainable growth.

The LG Ambassador Challenge is all about working together to make a real difference. It encourages individuals, groups, and organizations to come up with innovative ideas that can solve important social issues and improve lives. Since its launch, the program has empowered local changemakers by providing financial support and resources to help bring their projects to life, making a lasting impact on communities.

Originally launched in Bangladesh in 2017, the LG Ambassador Challenge has grown across Asia, encouraging individuals and organizations to propose solutions for key societal issues. The program provides financial grants to selected projects, empowering changemakers to drive meaningful and sustainable change in their communities.

The LG Ambassador Challenge has also delivered outstanding results since its local launch in the Philippines. In 2024, the Life's Good Library On the Go visited seven barangays in Nagcarlan, Laguna, offering learning opportunities to children in underserved communities with limited access to education and structured learning. The children and teachers also received free eye checkups from a local optometrist. Previous winning programs include the 2023 winners—Life is Good, When Life Has Light in Calauan, Laguna which installed solar-powered light posts that contributed to the community’s safety and security. Paliparan Community Livelihood in Dasmariñas, Cavite enabled housewives and out-of-school youth with a means of support for their families. Flowing Water for Growing Future in Lawaguin, Laguna—provided potable water which continues to make a positive impact by improving lives and empowering communities. The 2022 winners include Ride for Hope by Bahay Aruga in Quezon City, which provided ambulance transport for children cancer patients, and Roof for Siargao by Red Charity Gala, which supported home reconstruction after thousands were left homeless during the Typhoon Odette in December 2021.

This year, LG, KFHI, and CCK are focusing on key areas that can create meaningful change:
  • “No Poverty” - End poverty in all its forms everywhere
  • “Quality Education” - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
  • “Climate Action” - Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
By making use of LG's products and technology, participants have the opportunity to develop practical solutions that can make a lasting, positive impact on their communities.

LG Celebrates the Successful Implementation of the LG Ambassador Challenge Projects

LG Philippines proudly announces the triumphant realization of its LG Ambassador Challenge projects, which have made significant positive impacts on local communities in the Philippines. The LG Ambassador Challenge, a testament to LG's commitment to sustainable development in the nation, partnered with Korea Friends of Hope International (KFHI) to bring about meaningful change. After the initial announcement of the winners, we are excited to provide updates on the progress and accomplishments of these inspiring initiatives.

The LG Ambassador Challenge, now in its second year, received numerous project proposals from across the Philippines. The winning projects—‘Life is Good, When Life Has Light,’ ‘Flowing Water for Growing Future,’ and ‘Paliparan Community Livelihood’—have demonstrated the profound impact that community-driven initiatives can have in fostering positive change.

'Life is Good, When Life Has Light' - Bringing Light to Darkness
The first winning project, 'Life is Good, When Life Has Light,' is a program initiated by the Our Daily Bread Community-Dayap Church. This community, situated in Calauan, Laguna, has struggled with a lack of street lighting, leading to safety concerns for residents and commuters. To address this issue, solar-powered street lights were installed throughout the relocation area, providing a safer environment during nighttime. A total of 35 solar street lights now illuminate the community, enhancing safety, reducing crime, conserving energy, and facilitating smoother vehicular movement at night.

'Flowing Water for Growing Future' - Ensuring Access to Clean Water
The second winning project, 'Flowing Water for Growing Future,' led by Myla Cabaluna, focused on solving the water access challenges in the Lawaguin community. Due to the absence of a reliable water supply, residents resorted to washing clothes and bathing by the roadside. The initiative installed a solar-powered water pump, ensuring a consistent and clean water supply for the community. This has significantly improved living conditions and hygiene for the local residents.

'Paliparan Community Livelihood Project' - Empowering Communities through Sewing
The third winning project, the 'Paliparan Community Livelihood Project' by Bong Rho Yoon, aimed to enhance the livelihood of the urban poor community in Paliparan, a densely populated barangay with over 100,000 residents. Over 50% of households relied on construction work as their primary source of income. To diversify job opportunities, vocational training in sewing was introduced. Thanks to LG's support, additional sewing machines were provided, resulting in an increase in employment opportunities and a stable source of income for households. The project now boasts a total of 41 sewing machines, providing clients with high-quality products both locally and overseas. The workspace has been transformed into a brighter, more comfortable environment with sufficient lighting and electric fans.

Sustainable Projects Take Center Stage With the New Winners of the LG Ambassador Challenge

LG Philippines Managing Director Mr. Sungjae Kim, with Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI) Country Manager Mr. Taeho Lee and Mr. Soonchang Hong, Minister and Consul General of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea awards the winners of the 2023 LG Ambassador Challenge

LG captures lightning in a bottle once again as it recently concluded its LG Ambassador Challenge, which saw dozens of project proposals from across the nation. The contest was first introduced in partnership with Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI) and serves as a testament to LG's dedication towards fostering sustainable development within the Philippines' local communities. For its second year, the winning proposals are ‘Life is Good, When Life Has Light’, ‘Flowing Water for Growing Future’, and ‘Paliparan Community Livelihood’.

‘Life is Good, When Life Has Light’ is a program spearheaded by the Our Daily Bread Community-Dayap Church. The community, based in Calauan, Laguna, is a relocation site provided by the government after typhoon Ondoy. In the barangay, streetlights are practically absent, which makes it a dangerous place come night time, both for pedestrians and drivers alike. To address the problem, solar-powered street lights will be established throughout the dark places inside the relocation area. This goal will help people feel safe, reduce crime, conserve energy, make streets clearly visible in order to promote safety and convenience, and to have safer, comfortable, more convenient, and more efficient movement of vehicles during nighttime.
Another winning proposal is ‘Flowing Water for Growing Future’ by Myla Cabaluna. The project tackles water access in the community of Lawaguin. Because of the lack of an efficient water supply, locals have to resort to washing clothes and dishes, and even bathing by the road. To address the situation, the initiative plans on installing a solar-powered water pump that will deliver a clean and consistent water supply to the community.
The third winner for this year’s LG Ambassador Challenge is the Paliparan Community Livelihood Project by Bong Rho Yoon. The proposal aims to alleviate the livelihood of the community living in Paliparan, a dense barangay of over 100,000 people, most of which are urban poor. There are approximately 1,000 families living in the area with over 50% of the households’ main income coming from construction work. To help alleviate their situation, the livelihood project aims to introduce sewing to add job diversification. The vocational training education hopes to increase employment and add a stable source of income for households.
LG Philippines Managing Director Mr. Sungjae Kim was impressed with the proposed programs of this year’s crop of winners. “We at LG are proud to be a part of these helpful and inventive initiatives. Our brand is always committed to sustainability and leaving a positive impact in the community. These programs, spearheaded by our LG Ambassador Challenge winners, offer great strides to deliver sustainable growth to local communities. We stand hand in hand with them to help realize their vision.” Also present during the awarding ceremonies were Mr. Soonchang Hong, Minister and Consul General of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Mr. Taeho Lee, Country Manager of the Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI). KFHI is the international cooperation organization working to build international solidarity between Koreans and people around the world.
