ELVIS movie review
45 years after his death, another tribute to the King of Rock n' Roll is made to be a movie by no other than Baz Luhrmann. But here's another side of the story that we need to know: done into a very artistic form by the Moulin Rouge director, through the eyes of his former manager, Tom Parker played by Tom Hanks.
We can all agree that Elvis (Austin Butler) could be the greatest magician that ever lived. How he discovered his gift and power with humble roots were no different from others that succeeded him. In this movie, our generation would make us think who will is the antagonist. Avid Elvis fans would disagree in some aspects but Luhrmann somehow showed us something that's entertaining. He has given us the liberty to dive deeper into the historical accuracies of the piece.
Austin Butler did well as Elvis and had just engraved his name permanently. His moves and delivery of Elvis' songs were almost flawless, immortalizing the King. Tom Hanks, in his antagonist portrayal of Parker may be something you'll love to hate. The tandem is great! The drama is drawing us closer to their characters.
Our favorite part of course is integrating the songs that I think all of the greatest hits were included. I was tapping my hands and feet to the rhythm of Hound Dog, shaking to A Little Less Conversation and crying over Unchained Melody and I Can't Help Falling In Love With You.
Elvis is from Warner Bros. Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. Philippines.
