Pascual Laboratories shares the #PascualLove with the children of World Vision

Three years since their partnership with WorldVision started, PascualLab sponsors led by Vice President for Corporate HROD and Design Services & Corporate Affairs Mia Pascual Cenzon, finally met their sponsored children face to face, at a bonding activity during PascualLab's anniversary month at the WorldVision grounds in Quezon City.

To spread the #PascualLove as part of its CSR program Sowing to Empower, Educate, and Develop (SEED), Pascual Laboratories, Inc. (PascualLab) sponsor-employees spent a weekend of bonding over an art activity, talent showcase, group games, and basic health checks with children from World-Vision assisted communities in Malabon last May 6, 2023 at the World Vision grounds in Quezon City.

PascualLab, a partner of international charitable institution World Vision since 2020, has been sponsoring children in less-fortunate communities in Malabon via the CHOSEN program. Through the program, these children were given the chance to pick their sponsors, essentially choosing people who can help them realize their wishes for education towards better lives amidst challenges including the current health crisis.
Three years into the pandemic and during PascualLab’s anniversary month, the sponsors were finally able to be with the children who have CHOSEN them. Malabon plays a significant place in PascualLab’s history as the Pascual family traces its roots to this Northern part of Manila.

PascualLab VP and CHOSEN sponsor Mia Pascual Cenzon shared: “PascualLab has always had a passion for CSR and a heart for family so we take every chance to help others through our health products and in more ways such as the CHOSEN program”.

We are also excited to work with everyone here in the province, from the academe, families to government agencies, in giving children the conducive environment to learn and fulfil their dreams someday,” Rommel Fuerte, World Vision National Director, says.
"Nagdilaab Foundation is happy to have partnered with World Vision in assisting children in Basilan to have better access to education and ensuring that their wellbeing is advocated. Nagdilaab believes that every Filipino child should be given equal opportunities in society to make their dreams come true and their lives better. We believe that no child must be left behind.

We hope that this partnership will ,” Miriam Suacito, Nagdilaab Foundation Executive Director, says.

Fuerte and Suacito signed the MOU witnessed by World Vision, Amores Interfaith and Jabu-Jabu the Calling staff.

The agreement, under World Vision’s project Reaching Children in BaSulTa Island Provinces for Child Well-Being, will guarantee that children and youth have improved access to education, and their families and communities learned how to be prepared in times of disaster or emergencies. BaSulTa stands for Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi which are all located in the southernmost part of the Philippines.

According to Mark Sefuentes, the project coordinator, many of the children in Basilan are in need of assistance. “I’ve noticed how some children would go to school by boat on their own, which is quite risky. Some of the children are without slippers.”

Aside from the MOU signing activity, World Vision and Nagdilaab Foundation also provided around 100 children with new school bags that contains supplies such as crayons, a drawing book, hygiene items, a raincoat, a flashlight, and solar-powered radio. World Vision assists more than 300K children in 2021

Christian relief, development, and advocacy agency World Vision in the Philippines recently released its Year 2021 impact report highlighting milestones of directly assisting thousands of children and reaching millions of children through its various child-focused and community-based programs and advocacies implemented in over 30 provinces across the country.

World Vision National Director Rommel V. Fuerte shared, “In seeking and bearing witness to God’s kingdom, the ministry that we have built with all of our partners directly served more than 300,000 children by end of our fiscal year 2021. This is while the five national policies on child well-being World Vision has influenced to benefit more than 32 million children in the Philippines.”

“God has been faithful to each and every one of us for enabling us to do so much, despite the limitations and challenges in year 2021,” said Eduardo C. Jimenez , last year’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees for World Vision Development Foundation, Inc. “We praise Him for giving us the opportunity to work alongside thousands of partners and volunteers across the country to make this happen.”

Jimenez added that in alignment with the Philippine Development Plan and with the gracious support of donors, World Vision’s Health and Nutrition Program helped nourish 209,182 children aged below 17 years old, while its Education Program helped over 116,926 children, aged 5 to 17 years old, improve their learning outcomes.

In 2021, World Vision also relaunched its brand new child sponsorship campaign Chosen™, which aims to empower children to decide on their own and choose their child sponsors. One of the early takers for this campaign is supportive celebrity ambassador Nikki Gil. “The fact that I got to where I am today is a series of moments of being chosen first and foremost by God,” shares Gil on her experience with Chosen initiative. “There are times in our lives where we have limited choices. For children to be given the chance to choose who will journey with them to a brighter future --- that’s such a big deal. Through Chosen™, you’re giving children the power to choose. How empowering is that!”

However rough and challenging it has been due to the pandemic two years on, thousands of children in the Visayas including Sogod, Tabogon, Compostela, Liloan, and northern Cebu received learning and activity packs which include a small radio, COVID-19 reading materials, a storybook, and a set of play cards and school supplies to complement the government’s efforts to promote education despite the massive lockdowns implemented last year.

“It is our prayer that like Jeremiah who started young as a prophet, we too continue to heed God’s calling for us to be bearers of good news and doers of good deeds in this world,” added Fuerte.

WorldVision and PascualLab join hands in empowering children

Six months after international non-profit organization World Vision joined hands with
Pascual Laboratories, Inc. (PascualLalb), the organization has been able to help 77 more children to enable themselves to choose their future via the program Chosen™

Chosen™ the campaign which was launched last year in various World Vision offices, has been changing lives around the world by empowering children to contribute to the course of their future by giving them the power to choose their sponsors.

PascualLab, one of the top-of-mind pharma companies for health and wellness products and manufacturing services, known for its unwavering passion for health and life, shares in World Vision’s belief that every child deserves access to healthcare, nutrition, and quality education.

Roy Gerona from PascualLab’s manufacturing plant shares. “It is emotionally rewarding. We feel so blessed that we are given a chance to sponsor a child. We were created by God for a mission,” Wife Almerlyn who also works for PascualLab affirms that one of these missions is charity work: “It is a great feeling to be able to help others”. As parents, they are also happy to show their kids the value of education through Child Sponsorship.

Almerlyn and Roy Gerona

Corporate social responsibility has always been a part of PascualLab’s values and the partnership with World Vision allows employees to live out this value.

“It is an honor for me to be a part of a company that is able to hold on to its commitment for social responsibility despite the pandemic,” testifies Juan dela Cruz (not his real name), one of the employees of PascualLab’s subsidiary Leonie Agri Corp.

Although the pandemic has affected Chosen’s™ launch in early 2020, World Vision was still able to help 255 children find sponsors. The Chosen™ Campaign created a venue for PascualLab staff to help change the lives of children, even at the height of the spread and challenges of COVID-19.

“When the pandemic broke out, it unveiled the great divide between rich and poor in our country. Many have struggled and many are still struggling. Being able to assist someone in our own little way could impact their lives more than we could ever know,” Brithanie Urquico from PascualLab’s corporate office agrees. “I am content and happy to be able to make a difference, especially now that even the smallest of efforts truly counts,” she adds.

Brithanie Urquico

The partnership is also part of PascualLab’s 75th-anniversary celebration, wherein the Pascual family and employees were inspired to share some #PascualLove by giving back and doing something meaningful for their hometown, Malabon. Through the partnership with World Vision, PascualLab’s employees experienced being chosen by children from the child-focused, assisted community in Malabon.

The partnership was sealed in a Memorandum of Agreement signed last April, where 125 PascualLab employees committed to sponsoring children. This new and effective way in child sponsorship through Chosen™ is not only transforming the lives of the sponsored children but also of the sponsors.
“Giving a child the power to choose is like allowing them to create the future that they want. It’s a critical part of our self-development, and each one of the choices that we make shapes our experiences and brings us to where we want to be in our life,” says Angelie Paje of Pascual Consumer HealthCare, Corp.

Angelie Paje

Currently, both World Vision and PascualLab are also endeavoring to make the holiday season more meaningful for the children through letter-writing and other initiatives in the pipeline.

“We at World Vision are grateful to PascualLab for becoming a part of the Chosen™ child sponsorship campaign. This collaboration is a blessing as we achieve hope, joy and justice for all children,” says World Vision National Director Rommel V. Fuerte.
