looking back in THE LAST 5 YEARS

what do you see in the last 5 years? i have so many things to look back around that time. i am thappy to say that i had so much fun. i earned friends, solved problems, changed careers and now i am looking forward to a new chapter in the next five years.

one special thing about the last five years is there's a new theater company in town. i am also very glad to say that i've been a part of their 5 years. 9 Works Theatrical has given the Philippine audience with quality musicals that i loved and kept in my heart. these are Songs For A New World, three runs of RENT, You're a Good Man, Charlie BrownThey're Playing Our Song, The Wedding Singer, Gawad-Buhay award-winner Grease and more.

as their newest offering, they bring another Jason Robert Brown hit, The Last 5 Years which tells the story of two lovers, Jamie Wellerstein and Cathy Hyatt. their story of falling in love, getting married and the sad divorce in a tear-jerking musical.
played by artists Joaquin Valdes as Jamie and Nikki Gil as Cathy, they will deliver a story that many people would relate to. the musical also gave Jason Robert Brown nominations and awards and also dubbed as Time Magazine's "one of the best musicals of 2001." it was funny that director Robbie Guevarra was just joking to do this musical in celebration of 9WT's 5-year existence but Santi Santamaria and company took it seriously and it was made possible. something fresh for the company and for us all.
on August 9-31, i am coming back to Carlos P. Romulo auditorium to witness their incredible love journey. but for now, i have to listen and sob at the music on my Spotify playlist. directed by 9WT artistic director, Robbie Guevarra.

JERSEY BOYS movie review

call me old-fashioned but the movie Jersey Boys is definitely going on my list as one of the best movies of 2014. this movie about 60s band, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, directed by Clint Eastwood, will capture the eyes and ears of oldies fans and even the new ones (i hope).
the movie centered on Frankie Valli's life and how the group The Four Seasons was formed. as a young man, he experienced unruliness but fun life along with Tommy and his pals in the band. gifted with a beautiful voice, Frankie (John Lloyd Young) became the crowd favorite and the group has earned great number of fans and made many hits over the radio. Young's voice can carry the original Valli and i never knew that they sang hits like December, 1963, My Eyes Adored You, and the catchy Sherry.

their performances are quite memorable. it's like you're watching another high school musical. their dance steps looked very snappy and fun to watch.

his life was like any ordinary man, with ups and downs that can also bring the audience to tears. it tells us that fame can sacrifice great things that we didn't realize have great importance. this can teach a lot life lessons.
opening July 16, Jersey Boys will touch hearts and bring the people in their era back to memory lane. exclusively shown in Ayala Malls cinemas.

Gout relief with GOUTRITIS

this is my first time to write about a supplement. i am not much of a consumer of specialized products but there is one thing that i can testify because of its effect to the person i care for. my father. he was almost operated this year and braving out some ailment and pains on his joints. he experienced gout.

gout is a painful swelling in the joints, knees for example, due to the formation of uric acid deposits in the body caused by too much uric acid. this pain often occurs to males 40-50 or even younger with an unhealthy lifestyle. we don't want this to happen to ourselves and that's why i am so thankful that a friend introduced me to GOUTRITIS.
GOUTRITIS is a natural supplement that gives pain relief from gout. an active ingredient tart cherry has antioxidants which reduces the inflammation. tart cherry also has properties that lowers down uric acid that targets not only the symptoms of gout but also to the root cause of it. this product is FDA-approved and 100% organic. in other words, it's safe! my father takes it every morning and from then on, he doesn't feel gout pains and swelling. the product actually works for him.

gout has become manageable because of GOUTRITIS. GOUTRITIS is available in bottles of 90 capsules for Php900 and available in blister packs of 10 capsules for Php100. available in Mercury Drug stores nationwide. for more info about this product, you may contact them through their consumer hotlines at 524-6549, 3542208 to 09 and 0947-4890262. you can also email them at info@goutritis.com. more info available at www.goutritis.com and www.facebook.com/GoutritisSupplement

BLENDED movie review

Remembering over a decade ago, we had lots of fun with the Drew-Adam tandem with The Wedding Singer which eventually became a Broadway hit of the same title. Now, they return as parents lost in relationship with BLENDED -- a love found in Africa with the consent of their kids.
a movie that presents a person in so many levels. Jim (Sandler) and Lauren's (Barrymore) search for love gives a person hope and chance to move on from a failed relationship. their children, going through puberty, opens the doors for love and enjoyment. people around them push the magical experience and makes it worthwhile and memorable.
what's more fun about the movie is the unexpected appearances by Terry Crews and singing from nowhere accompanied by his doo-wap backups.

like any of Happy Madison movies, Blended also has some serious messages to tell. for one is that we shouldn't judge the person any time especially at the first time of  meeting. for parents, allowing the kids to be on their own with the proper guidance also teaches them to grow.

Watch Blended opening today in theaters near you. Distributed by Warner Bros. Philippines.

GODZILLA movie review

it's been a long time since i get to see monster creatures in the movies. in this latest production of Godzilla, i was refreshed to see gigantic creatures fighting and smashing little cities and killing thousands. by far improved and somehow this interest me about the monster.
a part of me takes a little pride in watching Godzilla. we raised the monster, i mean it was raised here in the Philippines. look out for many mentions of the country within the movie and surprisingly didn't damage much of our natural resources, haha! Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role somehow moved forward to the scene with his new looks.
as the movie refreshed my thoughts on Godzilla's enemies, i remember watching Japanese flicks such as Ultraman with giant creatures fighting against each other, while one is saving the humans. that's what i didn't know about Godzilla, and that it has a superpower of emitting blue flames to kill the enemy.

overall it is a good movie and leaves you thinking if there's part 2. i don't know. let's hope that Aaron's character and Godzilla would be friends? hehe

Godzilla is showing today in cinemas. distributed by Warner Bros. Philippines, also seen on IMAX.
