BLENDED movie review

Remembering over a decade ago, we had lots of fun with the Drew-Adam tandem with The Wedding Singer which eventually became a Broadway hit of the same title. Now, they return as parents lost in relationship with BLENDED -- a love found in Africa with the consent of their kids.

a movie that presents a person in so many levels. Jim (Sandler) and Lauren's (Barrymore) search for love gives a person hope and chance to move on from a failed relationship. their children, going through puberty, opens the doors for love and enjoyment. people around them push the magical experience and makes it worthwhile and memorable.

what's more fun about the movie is the unexpected appearances by Terry Crews and singing from nowhere accompanied by his doo-wap backups.

like any of Happy Madison movies, Blended also has some serious messages to tell. for one is that we shouldn't judge the person any time especially at the first time of  meeting. for parents, allowing the kids to be on their own with the proper guidance also teaches them to grow.

GODZILLA movie review

it's been a long time since i get to see monster creatures in the movies. in this latest production of Godzilla, i was refreshed to see gigantic creatures fighting and smashing little cities and killing thousands. by far improved and somehow this interest me about the monster.

a part of me takes a little pride in watching Godzilla. we raised the monster, i mean it was raised here in the Philippines. look out for many mentions of the country within the movie and surprisingly didn't damage much of our natural resources, haha! Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role somehow moved forward to the scene with his new looks.

as the movie refreshed my thoughts on Godzilla's enemies, i remember watching Japanese flicks such as Ultraman with giant creatures fighting against each other, while one is saving the humans. that's what i didn't know about Godzilla, and that it has a superpower of emitting blue flames to kill the enemy.

overall it is a good movie and leaves you thinking if there's part 2. i don't know. let's hope that Aaron's character and Godzilla would be friends? hehe

TV5 airs canonization rites of Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II

on Sunday, April 27, we will witness another historic religious event for the whole Catholic community. Pope Francis leads the canonization rites of two blessed people, Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II. the live feed on TV5 will be airing at 4PM.

canonization, the last step into sainthood of a religious Catholic, declares a deceased person to become saint and should have performed at least two miracles that have to be proved. for the cases of these two Blessed individuals, Pope Francis makes it easier with only 1 miracle each. from the time they are canonized, we can send our venerations and prayers for their blessings.

it would be very amazing that saintly individuals still exist in our time. these two popes have lived in the highs and lows of the world and wished for the world to be a better place like we also wanted. let's live like them and make it so, even if we don't get to sainthood.

PETA announces 47th season offerings

the Philippine Educational Theater Association or PETA proudly announces their 47th season offerings composed of both local and international productions and it's a big comeback for the previous season's Rak of Aegis. everybody has been very excited and requesting for this box office musical featuring the songs of Aegis in a story very relatable to the Filipino audience.

Rak of Aegis opens June 20 - August 31 at PETA Theater Center

starting in August is also another PETA original, remastered from the famous Balagtas composition, Florante at Laura, which is a fusion of the masterpiece and today's world. its objective is for the students nowadays to appreciate the sentiments of great poets in the times of our heroes and martyrs. presented in the contemporary genre, hiphop with the movements of today's dancing, Florante at Laura Remastered will be embraced by people who forgot and students who took it for granted.

Florante at Laura (Remastered) opens August 8 at Springs Production Studios

from the local literary pieces, PETA also presents Anton Chekov's Cherry Orchard. an adaptation set in the 1960s of Manila aristocracy, Palanca Awardee Rody Vera takes the story to us in collaboration with independent film director and Obie-awardee production designer, Loy Arcenas.

PETA also brings in talents from other places like UK, Japan and Finland to present cultural and art diversity. this July, two non-verbal performances about adversity hope and triumph will be showcased by Strong Boy, Deaf Boy and a Girl in an Abaya and Ayanasu (Woven). these presentations were in partnership with Japan Foundation Manila and the latter was with Dora Theater Company.
