KALOKALIKE Face 2

with the success of It's Showtime's Kalokalike segment, the show presents a bigger and more diverse line up of finalists vying for the Ultimate Kalokalike title. 72 finalists from different parts of the globe impersonating the artists and celebrities that they look-alike presented their similar aura, features and talents to the press in the recently held press conference.
It's Showtime hosts Kalokalikes
most finalists have leveled-up their presence by answering press questions and intrigues that the actual celebrity experiences. some of them also had very similar features and presented their talents like how the real thing does.

among my favorites, that which resemble their counterparts well are Michael Jackson, Mr. Bean, Billy Crawford, Cacai Bautista, Maja Salvador, Sunshine of Sexbomb, Jake Cuenca 1, ER Ejercito, Jessica Sanchez, Tado, Matet De Leon, Noli De Castro, Tessa Prieto-Valdez, Apl De Ap, Jed Madela, Dulce, and Freddie Aguilar. Philippine President, Noynoy Aquino also comes in the finalists press conference complete with PSGs which makes it the extra mile.
one of the highlights of the conference was Alfie Lorenzo meeting his own kalokalike in the flesh and be able to talk with him with personal matters in a funny way. the kalokalike is very kind enough to answer the showbiz writer that lightened the mood of the audience more.

the finalists will be making their ways to be the Ultimate Kalokalike Face 2 starting August 26 to September 21. only at the Philippines' most preferred noontime variety show, It's Showtime.

MAXIE THE MUSICAL "Patikim ng Schlight"

at the success of the gay indie movie, Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, Bit by Bit Productions headed by Darwin Mariano and Carlo Francia, and in cooperation with PETA Theater, Maxie the Musical will soon take the waves of gay rights and equality in the production of Maxie the Musical. opening November 9 to December 8, at the PETA Theater Center in Quezon City.
last night's "Patikim ng Schlight" gig provided a fun glimpse of how the show will transpire. a total of 6 numbers and a few tableau of how Maxie spends his day with his family. the gay adolescent also takes his journey at his hometown. living with his father and two brothers who sells gambling tickets and other illegal jobs.
Maxie and Victor (unofficial cast)
while at this state, Maxie still manages to put the positive mood and serve his family like the only woman in the family. as a "girl" at his right, he gets attracted to a police officer named Victor who is in search of illegal doers at their town. it will be a struggle for Maxie to defend his blood or follow his heart.

i loved the words during the sample reading at the "Patikim." it is both intelligent and flirty as how i see Maxie should be. it would be a great anticipation on how iconic scenes will be executed by director, Dexter Santos and the crew. the beauty pageant, the first meet-up of Maxie and Victor and more. the songs too were very distinct of the characters portraying Maxie, his father and brothers, and Victor as well as establishing sceneries with only just words. the songs really expose how Maxie feels and how Victor reacts to him.

if you loved the movie, you'll also love this musical as another presentation that recognizes members of the third sex in the society. the presentation of how people from the third sex lives as like straight people do, and that also deserve right approach towards them.

tickets are now available on Ticketnet so you have to reserve now. also follow @MaxieTheMusical on Twitter and like the Facebook page.

EKSTRA movie review

we've known the Star for All Seasons, Vilma Santos, to play lead roles in different movies and being a bit player was the last thing that i could think about. i was really amazed on how she played like one in Ekstra, an independent film that gave her the Best Actress Award for the Cinemalaya Film Festival 2013, and raked in other awards from the critics.
we follow the story of the bit player preparing for bit roles in a soap opera. a one day journey that motivates her to sustain a lifestyle and the needs of her child. the underlying story of a mother that would do anything just to put her gift in a good school, a dreamer. at that day, is like most of us, starting positively, but the turn of events is how fate plays among us. no matter how we sweat ourselves to do our work as needed and to get us recognized by impressing other people, there will be a time that we are going to fall. starting with the feeling of "It should have been me" and ending there, me as an audience immerses into the story and felt the same way and tearing up in anger with myself. some story of regret that makes you think, "I should have done it that way."
That crying moment.
in the sentiment of the bit players, the movie upholds the little people that made up the story, that helps the star stand out, that add color to the background of the set. Ekstra indeed shows another face of life which we usually ignore or even laughed about. but these people have spirits like us, instead of waiting for luck to give what they want, they do a little extra that will give other people what they want. a huge example of sacrifice and dream that people should follow.

THE CONJURING movie review

the most anticipated horror movie of the season has tested my bravery and i admit that i wasn't able to control myself in watching THE CONJURING. opening the most-kept secret of the Warrens, Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga), about a haunting in Rhode Island, creeps audience from the trailer up to its full length movie.

i was hesitant about going to the cinema and watch this movie. but i already had decided to push it through and besides, i have other cowards with me watching it, hehe. when i saw videos on documentaries about related topics on the Warren Museum of Demonology and the Annabelle doll, at least it toned down the scares in me when i saw the movie. it was another case of haunting and possession, which family members are greatly affected in the increasing terror of the demon living inside the Perrons' house.
i somehow believed that such paranormal occurrences may happen anywhere. and it got ever scarier when finding out that this was a true story. i saw James Wan's Insidious and i was really scared at it. i was rolling down at my seat when horror intensifies. accept the dare to see The Conjuring and you'll be sleeping with your lights on and a companion beside you. it's just that i'm so sleepy and i just ignored the scares.

the special effects are well done as well as the prosthetics. but i guess Insidious was a lot scarier than this. The Conjuring gives horror but in a surprising way that your heart won't skip a beat. for the actors, i appreciated Lili Taylor's acting as Caroline Perron who was gradually attacked by the demon. i wonder how she feels doing that.

there were some scenes that made me annoyed though i cannot justify whether it's needed in the development of the story no matter what. like how a daughter gets attracted to the Warrens' assistant and how the guard was lured in by a ghost. i just didn't feel it was okay. it was more scarier if they had made a movie where the Annabelle doll was terrorizing. she was just a medium to take a fight against Lorraine Warren, i guess.

one thing more, the movie greatly promotes Catholicism which is very much present in any movie that fights evil.
well you have to check it out in the movies which opens August 21. directed by James Wan, The Conjuring is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema. distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures (Philippines)

YSTILO SALON celebrates 15 years of success

YSTILO SALON, owned by celebrity sisters, Vina Morales and Shaina Magdayao, celebrates 15 years of success in making its patrons beautiful and attractive. a chitchat at their SM Mall of Asia branch happened this afternoon.
Ystilo Salon SM Mall of Asia
its humble beginnings were at the vicinity of Fairview where their sisters have to monitor while they're doing their entertainment jobs. as it's their hobby and huge interest in pampering themselves, it's best to invest in the business it is today. since then, the business grew and caters to all people in different grooming and pampering needs like haircut and spa.
Vina Morales and Shaina Magdayao
Vina shared her stories behind Ystilo Salon. before this venture, she admittedly said that some of the businesses she had didn't go well. the secret with Ystilo is that owners should have focus on the business. continuing to innovate and invest on the training of the therapists and stylists while keeping the good values and services. she even nodded that they had saved much on endorsements because they can do it themselves since they are already celebrities.

it is also helpful for the branches when they visit. Vina attends on gatherings in provincial branches while Shaina makes her way to visit Metro Manila branches, especially the Greenhills branch which is nearest to her work locations. the anniversary party this afternoon also invited patrons and fans to meet and greet the celebrity sisters and take a photo opportunity.

being recognized by the Philippine Marketing Association, Go Negosyo and Entrepreneur Magazine in many years, Ystilo Salon still continues and looks forward to new trends in styling and pampering their valued customers. and as for Vina, they keep the services up to date and doesn't compromise the skills and value for their employees.

Ystilo Salon is open for franchising inquiries at an reasonable price. you may contact the Corporate Office by calling 927.7532 or 415.0222.
