STAR TREK Into Darkness movie review

i haven't got the chance to see Star Trek 1 in the movie houses but Star Trek: Into Darkness didn't fail me to enjoy it. seeing it last Friday in a premiere screening was a good experience to know the friendship and adventures of Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) from the TV series of my childhood.
Star Trek: Into Darkness mainly narrates a manhunt for a one-man terror machine that threatens the destruction of the world. and this mission of the Enterprise crew to capture this man and save the world. just another heroic deed with a lot of drama to the bromance of Spock and Kirk as the rest of the crew are making their move not to crash the spacecraft and smash the world.

it's a good hype for Trekkies to anticipate for this movie but it didn't surprise me at all nor even increased excitement towards the end. merely seeing an episode of Star Trek on TV with just a lengthened exposure with the casts. bringing in more functions about the crew with that little romance and emotions from Spock and Uhura (Zoe Saldana), and a sparking attraction with Carol (Alice Eve) and Kirk. 3D watching is not worth it.

you may catch it starting May 15 at theaters nationwide (Philippines).

EVIL DEAD movie review

5 young adults occupy a remote cabin where they plan to rehabilitate their friend, Mia (Jane Levy). until one accidentally summons an evil power by reading a passage from the damned Book of Dead, Mia gets possessed and all of them gets manipulated and killed one by one until one is left to fight for survival.
Ayala Cinemas exclusively brings you this gore-funfare EVIL DEAD starring Jane Levy and Shiloh Fernandez. the scare awaits on May 8 and you'll be screaming your lungs out with the high-resolution graphics and blood-jerking scenes. you might say a combo of different horror flicks from The Exorcist upto Texas Chainsaw Massacre that will make you hide from your seat.
however, as a horror flick scaredy cat myself, the scares are pretty much predictable but done very artistically. not to mention the photography of the scenes that is very well composed. i was practically cupping my hands on my face whenever a new scare stuff is coming.
story is developing gradually but a sudden downfall towards the end that makes it awkward and weird. but again as i said, the mix of different elements from different horror movies is just done very well.
catch it with no cuts on Ayala Cinemas rated R-18 by MTRCB. EVIL DEAD opens May 8 nationwide.

IRON MAN 3 movie review

Tony Stark is back. and he's got the whole gang with him in the latest IRON MAN installment. IRON MAN 3 would be the most entertaining movie of the franchise but there are some points that i want to discuss.
i was actually excited about it seeing a lot of action from the trailer and promotions. with Tony Stark's exceptional intelligence that geeks may only understand, mixing with the given Robert Downey Jr. humor is already a reason to watch it. not bad for more than 2 hours, i was actually wide awake seeing the whole movie to the end, catching the scene after the credits.

plot was revolving around the revenge of Killian (Guy Pearce) after his rejection on the partnership with Tony Stark. 13 years later, appearing neat and with a secret weapon for mass destruction. i think that the plot was executed well with an acceptable time frame so the developments are not that boring. there had also been some extra scenes which never compromised the whole concept.
favorite scene is how he managed all the work when his Malibu Mansion was attacked. Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) makes the Man-move with the suit which made it even cooler.

there's this feeling that you're left hanging after the whole movie. it's like you're anticipating for more events, hopefully another sequel?

if you enjoy IRON MAN 3, i hope you'll also enjoy this:

TRANCE movie review

an Ayala Mall Cinemas exclusive, 20th Century Fox brings a Danny Boyle film that had twisted my brain in many intelligence levels. James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson stars in TRANCE, opening May 1.
it was an amazing ride to keep your mind working in the process on different perspectives. it is about an art auctioneer gets mixed up with a group of criminals partnering with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting.   moments were both exciting and unpredictable and you'll never really know who leads the cast until you reach the end of the story. a psychologically challenging that literally hooked me from start to finish.
a film inspired by art, Danny Boyle also executed his direction with every frame as good as art. from architecture, realism and more, from happy to tragic that you have to discover yourself. your senses will give full attention to the whole movie and that why i love it most these days.
