TITANIC 3D: wear your glasses

i admit! i saw the 2d version of Titanic around 5 times in the movie house and i don't even have a job then. and i stay in front of HBO watching the same movie over and over again and i am very proud of it. who wouldn't forget these lines:

"So this is the ship they say is unsinkable."
"Not even God can sink this ship."
"I want you to paint me wearing this. Wearing ONLY this."
"Promise me, you'll never give up, no matter how hopeless."
if you knew the people who said these lines, you're a certified Titanic fan. and i bet when you hear Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On, you will be able to fill in the dialogues at every gap. that's how i grew myself in the days when Titanic plays in the movie screen. you won't believe that it played around 3 months here in the Philippines back in 1997.
and so when James Cameron made this 3D version, it was very timely in the 100th anniversary of the tragedy but touched our hearts with the love story of Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose Dewitt-Bukater (Kate Winslet). but my favorite character there is the old Rose, played by Gloria Stuart.

so you're going to meet them again on digital 3D in cinemas on April 7 for a limited time. if tickets are available online, go reserve them now.

3 IDIOTS movie review

i always wondered why this movie was never seen in the Philippines and it was a great blessing that my friends had a copy of the hit Indian movie: 3 IDIOTS. a great mixture of comedy, drama and science in the likes of Big Bang Theory, Bollywood in the test of true friendship and life.
the story focuses on Rancho (Aamir Kahn), Raju (Sharman Joshi) and Farhan (Madhavan Ranganathan) who are taking degree in engineering at the Imperial College of Engineering. here they discover the attitudes of one and become each other's support group. here they also face the pressure of being in college under the harsh policies of the school director Virus, who treats Rancho and the others as number 1 enemies and bad influence to other students. but this didn't stop the three to pursue college. especially Rancho who, inspite of his naughty and notorious attitude, still manage to get the top spot in the examinations. Raju and Farhan falls on the last of the list because they worry on the expectations of their families. Rancho puts them to see the other side understanding that they should go to what they really want.
the movie gives us a lighter view about life. it goes by the saying "All is Well" telling us not to worry about it. instead, we can solve any problem without worries. and that we should keep moving forward. i like the dialogues thrown by the cast and scenes are breathtaking. i never saw India in a different view. culture is being fed to you with a smile.
though most scenes have a funny approach, the movie also makes you cry. you'll begin to think that there are more better things around you rather than the negative ones. so go on, "All is Well," as Rancho says.

the movie lasts around 170 minutes. it would be that long because of some production numbers taking full songs. but at least you'll have a feed of the reasons why things turn as they are in the movie. below is a song and dance sequence from the movie. of course, Bollywood requires to have this.

THE HUNGER GAMES movie review

Lionsgate Films made an amazing adaptation of the famous novel by Suzanne Collins. it's about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who became a tribute for her district in the Hunger Games. the Hunger Games is opening in theaters worldwide on March 23 2012.
it was set in the distant future, in a place called Panem which was known as United States. and it was divided in 12 districts. every year, the Hunger Games is held choosing tributes from ages 12 - 18 in order to bring honor back to their district. the Hunger Games also serves as a reminder for the 12 districts about the Capitol's authority and a punishment for the rebellion 70 years ago when a 13th district was destroyed.
in the Hunger Games, the chosen tributes puts out a show where one should stay alive. thus, they have to use their skills, wit and even charm in order to get sponsors to help them out while they are inside the games arena. like the Olympics, the Hunger Games is the most watched show during its entirety.
for those who are not fully aware of what the Hunger Games is, it was really brutal watching it on film. more to expect when you read the book. violent hunting skills and blood drench dying tribute which is a very tragic thing to see. i thought it was a little hi-tech but you can only see it in the Capitol area where the advancements are. the people from the Capitol dress in their multi-colored and eccentric designs like Lady Gaga.
what's sad in the story is how the Capitol made the brutal Hunger Games into a public entertainment and minors are playing the game. an eye opener why people in power be able to dictate and manipulate people under them. this will be noticed to scenes not close to the end where an uprising is done.

since this is a trilogy, the Hunger Games can live independently as it is. the balance of sci-fi, action, drama and love story is well executed to this production. but i can see it as a combined Big Brother and Survivor type of games -- where you will see the drama and alliances formed inside a controlled environment. nonetheless, i enjoyed it.
