Resorts World presents The Sound of Music

For those who grew up with Julie Andrews' "Do-Re-Mi" and definitely sings their heart out in nature with "The hills are alive with the sound of music," Resorts World presents this classic on stage with definitely Filipino crafting. The Sound of Music is set to capture our hearts starting October 15 2011 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. Featuring our very own Joanna Ampil and Cris Villonco alternating Maria, Audie Gemora, Ed Feist and Jon Joven alternating Capt. Von Trapp. Joined by equally talented cast and directed by Roxanne Lapuz.

The Sound of Music is a story of Maria who was expelled from a convent and then worked as a nanny in a prominent country in Austria. She finds her purpose teaching and taking care of the Von Trapp children, valuing family and protecting it from the Nazi regime. Set in the 1930s-1940s, Maria is also portrayed by Julie Andrews in the 1965 movie.

Something different, the largest LED screen in Southeast Asia was utilized in enhancing the set through video. Thanks to the creativity of director Paul Soriano and Mio Infante -- geniuses of today's entertainment for the Filipino people. And even if this is a foreign piece, Resorts World has made it sure that this was developed by 100% Filipino artistry.

Remember the songs, the characters and the values addressed in this musical. Watch it in the Newport Performing Arts Theater starting October 15 2011. Also, you can find Resorts World staircases designed with The Sound of Music steps where you can take your photo op.

Tickets prices range from P1000 (Balcony), Php 1,300 (Deluxe Right, Left and Center), P1,700 (Premiere Right, Left and Center) and Php 2,000 for VIP. With Gala shows on Wednesday to Saturday and Matinee on Saturday and Sunday.

Kids and pirates in Peter Pan!

Few nights to go and we're off to Neverland. Seeing familiar faces like the Darling children, Wendy, John and Michael, together with Tiger Lily, Tinkerbell, the Lost Boys, and of course the evil pirates, drawn me back to my childhood and also wished that I never grew up.

Repertory Philippines will stage their last production this season as they bring the new version of Peter Pan with Sam Concepcion playing the title role. Seeing their rehearsals in Makati gave me chills of excitement to see it in Meralco Theater starting on September 29!

Directors Jaime de Mundo and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo also gave us a glimpse of how the stage will look like. It resembles the past of Peter when he left his home and returning finding another child in his mother's arms. This will open into his rebellious but fun childhood in Neverland. And every scene will draw you into Neverland and its amazing creatures.
Now take a look at what's happening during the rehearsals. See excerpts of two songs: The Lost Boys Gang and Good Old Captain Hook performed by the cast.

Indeed Peter Pan and his friends will fly on secure harnesses for better effect. Songs and great dances await the audiences into a magical experience.

Repertory Philippines' PETER PAN is staged by the Children's Theater starting from September 29 - December 2011 at the Meralco Theater.

FINAL DESTINATION 5 movie review

we all want to die peacefully. but if you're going to see a movie like Final Destination 5, make sure that you have a healthy heart because you're in for very violent scenes not good for a weak heart. Warner Bros. Pictures gives the 5th installment of the most morbid film series, opening in Philippine theaters on August 24 2011.

it was just a company retreat until Sam Lawton (Nicholas D'Agosto) sees a vision as they got all killed in a tragic downfall of the Golden Gate bridge. one by one, they meet death in his vision but he was very thankful enough that it was just a dream. but a strong gut feeling holds him that they could not really escape death in each of their time just right after that his vision came true.

cheating death is not really easy for them. unimaginable and very unfortunate events came to them one by one adding to the stress and depression they experience from the death of their coworkers. and they happen in the best areas that you might also dwell -- the spa, the gym, a medical appointment -- anything goes. and until they figure out how to escape it, but still somebody has to go next.

the scenes on this movie is more realistic than the previous 2 movies because the death machinery is more possible and believable than choreographed by an evil power. the 3D graphics are beautiful and the killing scenes are very believable. i almost think that were the producers of this movie are frustrated killers? i wonder why they have started this movie and made it into a series. also be prepared with paddings and ear plugs because you might be hit hard by those beside you and deafened by the screams and shouts at the theater.
