THE BATMAN movie review

The Batman movie will be out on March 2 so you have to get your tickets in advance. While we have a new caped crusader in Robert Pattinson, right now we have to applaud him in his performance as Bruce Wayne and the Dark Knight.
Slowly parting from the "animated" presentation in the comics, The Batman gets the villains into darker and less kid-friendly costumes but still they are distinguished as Batman's enemies. The villains were established not just as Batman's enemies but of society that were corrupted of their freedom and resources. The movie strongly talks about each character's struggles which gave them their reasons to disturb Gotham.
The Batman also revealed a different Robert Pattinson. This opened up a new element and something that I've never seen before. So deep and serious but really sends the feels. Somehow you may be able to connect to his character than the previous ones. WB also made some deliberate tweaks on the character that worked well. No fanfares on his costume and Batmobile and you're really in for the story.
The Batman opens in theaters, March 2. Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures PH. Follow #TheBatman on social media for more updates.

A quiet dorm for girls were shaken upon the arrival of Corporal McBurney (Colin Farrell) after found in the forest wounded and dying. As they were trying to get rid of him fast, the ladies had been charmed and their true colors appeared in the excitement in the presence of a man.
In this remake of The Beguiled, Sofia Coppola defines the girls as they were also seductresses to the corporal instead of him taking advantage to play with their minds and hearts. This version talks about their life before he went in, how they are very reserved and how they are longing for escape from the walls of the dorm. At least that's what we heard from Edwina (Kirsten Dunst) telling the corporal. She must've been very lonely as she is overlooking on 4 different children and acts as a teacher. However, she is also inferior to Martha (Nicole Kidman) who serves as the man of the house.
Elle Fanning somewhat gave us how ladies in their puberty are. Her young features are some what on the verge of exploding in excitement seeing the corporal. She may be the meanest in their pack but the most vulnerable.
But you got to admire Miss Martha (Kidman) here. She still maintains her composure and was able to turn things around as if it wasn't intense. It gets more exciting when they planned on their next step on how to get rid of the corporal without him suspecting.
The Southern accent is very effective on the actors. Matching with the consistency in the period with their dresses and props, it is an amazing time travel.
The Beguiled opens today, September 6. Exclusively playing at Ayala Malls, Trinoma and Greenbelt 3.

Cannes Filmfest 2017 Best Director Sofia Coppola was the first female director to take the award in 56 years. Her thriller of women in sexual tension over a man of the enemy three years to the Civil War. The Beguiled is a reinterpretation of the 1971 film which now we are seeing it based on the women's perspective. The Beguiled will be shown in Trinoma and Greenbelt 1 cinemas starting September 6.
Adapted from the novel by Thomas Cullinan, The Beguiled is a sexually charged tale that unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier (Colin Farrell). As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.
Sofia Coppola is reunited with two of her favorite leading ladies, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning, and directs for the first time Golden Globe Award winner Colin Farrell and Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman. These screen veterans are backed up by an ensemble of teenage actresses who are making their marks in the industry.
Laced with elements of a taut psychological thriller, the tale unfolds in 1864 – three years into the Civil War – and is tightly concentrated in and around a Southern girls’ boarding school in Virginia where a wounded Union soldier takes refuge.
The Beguiled is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures. Watch the trailer below:

WINTER'S TALE movie review

I have this confusion with time-travelling movies but WINTER'S TALE is a not miss with loving individuals of all ages. As to learn not just to love but to be a miracle to others.
Being in the mythical New York in a different angels and demons battle, a person is caught in two time zones, one his present and his future and being able to fulfill his destiny. I just had to carefully draw myself in the settings and how clues were revealed one by one in the life of Peter Lake (Colin Farrell). I also had this icky feeling that sometime within that Pearly Holmes (Russell Crowe) will sing as Javert in Les Mis.
The story is something new to me and I really liked it too. It brings back youth to Colin Farrell and he has regained the matinee idol image in this movie. There is also balance in the roles of the supporting cast, and a pleasant script.
A love fantasy is very timely in this season and for those in love out there, Winter's Tale is written and directed by Akiva Goldsman and now showing in theaters. Distributed by Warner Bros Philippines.
