EDWIN MCCAIN & TAYLOR DAYNE in BACK2BACK Ultimate Concert at the SM Arena

it was such a rare privilege to see and interview Edwin McCain and Taylor Dayne face to face to promote their concert tour in the Philippines which kicked off last night at Waterfront Hotel in Cebu and on June 1 at the new SM Arena. i was really starstruck because i've been singing their songs I'll Be and Love Will Lead You Back.

we will hear their greatest hits at the Back2Back concert. and i got to ask some personal questions to them. it was Edwin McCain's first time here in the Philippines and really thankful of the warm welcome and hospitality of the people. haven't tried any dishes yet but hesitant to try our own "balot" (duck embryo). he is enjoying his fatherhood with 2 kids whom unfortunately cannot come with him here because of sickness. but they will try to come here on vacation and experience the islands. his "I'll Be" is such a special gift. he just tried to air it on video and the rest is history. but who was Edwin McCain before the stardom? when he was about 8, he was singing in the church choir as a soprano. then, building a band in highschool started his singing career. he transferred singing in cruise ships where he met other Filipino travelers telling and insisting him to come in the Philippines. and now, here he is. watch him sing I'll Be in this excerpt:


Taylor Dayne remembers her first visit here in Manila where she had struggled about 2 hours of traffic. but now, she was amazed how she got quicker to her hotel after arriving at the airport. her single Love Will Lead You Back is a staple in our videoke line ups and one of her Billboard hits. she will bring us on our feet again with her dance singles and fall in love with her ballads. her 25 years in the industry featured the songs which young parents grew up on. they were regarded as the songs of their lives.

the collaboration of Edwin and Taylor is not new to their followers. they have been singing together 5 or 6 shows in the United States and entertaining fans all over. Taylor is even more excited performing in the brand new Mall of Asia Arena and serenade more than it's capacity. a front act by our RnB prince, JayR starts the concert.

Mechanics
1. All Filipinos, wherever in the world they are, are free to submit entries.
2. To join, participants must capture themselves in a video or photo, solo or in a group, inviting foreigners in a fun way to visit the Philippines.
Examples:
· Group of dancers inviting Koreans while dancing Tinikling
· A girl climbing a Palo Sebo while inviting Americans
3. Unique pictures and videos will be accepted as long as it shows how fun it is in the Philippines.
4. All submissions must have the DOT tagline "It's more fun in the Philippines" using the Harabara font. It can be placed at any point in the material. It can be shown visually or mentioned verbally.
5. A website portal/application in the Globe Facebook page will be provided by Globe where the videos can be uploaded. Uploader must provide his name, location, and contact details upon submission of entry.
6. Submissions can be made from April 01 to May 31, 2012.
7. The best and most fun submissions will be chosen by Globe and DOT representatives and will be put together in one video invitation for all countries in the world.
8. The commercial will then be released and shown worldwide in various international channels (i.e. TV channels, LED sites abroad, etc.) as the Philippines' invitation to the world.
9. Final products will also be downloadable and share-able from the Globe Facebook page.

Prizes
1. One Nokia Lumia 610 will be given to the best video submitted for the week.

American Idol 10: THIA MEGIA is out!

16-year old from Mountain House, Thia Megia was booted off season 10 of American Idol. the 2-time elimination was necessary after the judges saved Casey Abrams from last weeks elimination.

Thia, along with Adedapo and MacDonald were the bottom 3 at the latest episode. watch the video below:

Enchanted Kingdom opens EKstreme Tower Ride!

to mark the Crystal Anniversary of the world-class Philippine theme park, Enchanted Kingdom has finally opened the EK EKstreme Tower Ride! a 150-feet tall attraction located in Midway Boardwalk.

Enchanted Kingdom Executives Mario and Cynthia Mamon is joined by Laguna bureaucrats Governor George Ejercito and Maita Ejercito, Mayor of Pagsanjan, to formally open the EKstreme Tower Ride.

get the excitement rising as you elevate 150-feet off the ground, seeing a lot of the Sta.Rosa land in Laguna. then as you reach Eldar the Wizard's hat that sits on top of the tower, hold your breath to a sudden fall. watch the video here:


the ride is visible from the South Luzon Expressway as you pass by Sta. Rosa. almost like the Space Needle but Eldar's Wizard hat sits on top of it. 12 people can sit roundabout the tower and are secured with shoulder shields that lock in when pulled down. additional belt strap in front of you so that the shoulder shields are really secured. reach for Eldar's hat high above as the tower glows at night.

i have tried it and it is hair-raising! the speed of the drop down the tower is about 75km/h which is relatively fast. it feels like you are suspended in mid-air with nothing to protect you. you will surely come back for more! the entrance to EKstreme Tower Ride is sold separately at Php 100 from the admission.

also in line with the 15th Anniversary of EK is the display of fireworks for the Asia Sky Wizardry competition. Asian countries compete for the best pyro display in the skies of Enchanted Kingdom. this has started on October 2 2010 and will have the finals next week already on October 23. see this rare attraction at Space Port area. last night, 2 competitors enthralled everyone with the lights and colors of the fireworks synch-ed in the Enchanted Kingdom theme song:

my first video editing project

though this is just a slide show, it really took me so long to finish it. figuring out simple techniques like fading in and out music, selecting the time for each slide to appear, selecting transitions and even adding titles. i used Windows Movie Maker which only had limited features for editing but that's all good to finish the project.

this project is for my niece's 7th birthday tomorrow. i'm glad that i've finished it. please tell me what you think about it. i'm open about suggestions. :)
