LG’S Newest Innovations Receive Record Number of Awards at CES 2023

Making a triumphant return at this year’s CES®, LG Electronics (LG) took home its most awards ever compared to previous years – with more than 220 recognitions honoring top innovations across its home appliance and home entertainment categories.

Among the top honors received by LG at CES 2023 was the coveted Engadget Best of CES Award in the Best Home Theater Tech category for its groundbreaking LG SIGNATURE OLED M (model M3) – the world’s first wireless OLED TV with Zero Connect technology.

With 2023 marking the 10th anniversary of LG’s revolutionary OLED TV, the global leader in OLED technology continued its dominance at CES, taking home the industry's top awards and honors for its latest OLED TV lineup including the aforementioned LG OLED M3 and LG OLED evo G3 and C3. The LG OLED evo G3 features up to a 70 percent increase in brightness versus last year’s models. The 97-inch LG SIGNATURE OLED M3 (the M3 model also available in 83- and 77-inch screen sizes) is considered the next step in the evolution of OLED TV technology and was honored by major tech publications including CNET, Digital Trends, TechRadar, Tom’s Guide, WIRED, The Verge, USA Today, PCMag and Mashable. LG Showcases Seamless Smart Home Experience With Home Connectivity Alliance at CES 2023

Implementing HCA 1.0 Guidelines, Company’s Smart Lifestyle Solutions Deliver
More Convenience and a Better Life at Home


LG Electronics (LG), a board member of the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA), will showcase a seamless smart home experience at CES 2023. Along with other HCA member companies, LG will demonstrate the interoperability enabled under the new HCA Specification 1.0, whereby smart home solutions from different brands work together seamlessly to deliver true connected convenience in the home.

Inside HCA’s booth at CES, LG will be exhibiting its latest smart home appliances – including the refrigerator with MoodUP, WashTower laundry solution, ARTCOOL Gallery air conditioner and PuriCare AeroTower – together with those from other alliance members. Visitors will be able to see the realization of HCA’s “Any app to any device” vision, which presents users with the ability to manage each brand’s products via each brand’s smart control app, such as LG’s intuitive ThinQ app. This new level of interoperability is currently supported by HCA member companies including LG.

Utilizing existing industry standards to define Cloud-to-Cloud (C2C) interoperability guidelines, the new HCA Specification 1.0 has been established to ensure that home appliances, TVs and HVAC systems can interoperate seamlessly with one another, irrespective of brand. In addition to newly-launched models, consumers can continue using the smart home appliances and HVAC solutions that they already own and are covered by HCA Specification 1.0, without having to install any major firmware updates.


Furthermore, HCA Specification 1.0 will help member companies to make the smart home more sustainable in the future, leveraging data collected from across alliance members’ appliances to gain usage insight and improve energy management.

LG to Introduce Versatile Cleaning Solution, CordZero A9 Kompressor with Steam Power Mop

On Show at CES, LG’s First Stick Vacuum with Steam Power Mop Nozzle Provides Wet and Steam Mopping, Comes with Convenient ‘All-in-One Tower’ Docking Station

LG Electronics (LG) is introducing its new CordZero A9 Kompressor™ with Steam Power Mop at CES 2023. Winner of a CES 2023 Innovation Award, the new model is the company’s first cordless stick vacuum cleaner to offer steam mopping functionality. The CordZero A9 Kompressor also comes with the innovative All-in-One Tower docking station, designed to store, recharge and automatically empty the vacuum.
Equipped with the detachable Steam Power Mop nozzle, LG’s latest CordZero provides wet and steam mopping functionality; delivering a convenient, effective mopping performance that gets surfaces clean without using any detergent. In steam mopping, the mop pads are kept at a temperature of approximately 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit), enabling the CordZero A9 Kompressor to remove stains from flooring more easily than a conventional wet mopping solution. According to Intertek, the global testing and certification organization, LG’s steam-heated mop pads are more effective than a typical wet mop at separating substances, such as hardened chocolate, from the floor.1

The Steam Power Mop nozzle also comes with dual sensors, which help prevent the attachment’s steam generator from overheating, as well as an advanced, automatic water supply system that keeps the mop pads wet during mopping. For user safety, if the nozzle is lifted off the floor or is held stationary for a period of approximately 20 seconds, the steam supply shuts off, while mop pad rotation is halted after around one minute of inactivity.2 LG’s new cordless stick vacuum also incorporates the company’s Axial Turbo Cyclone™ technology, which helps remove dust and debris from floors and other household surfaces by generating powerful suction.


Accompanying the CordZero A9 Kompressor with Steam Power Mop is an All-in-One Tower. LG’s space-efficient and fast-charging docking station features a replaceable dust bag, an automated dustbin-emptying system and an intuitive display that provides real-time status updates. LG’s All-in-One Tower also offers three different alert/notification melodies to choose from and hassle-free storage for CordZero vacuum accessories.

LG Announces Global Launch of Revolutionary LG 'ThinQ Up' Appliances

LG Electronics (LG) has announced the global launch of its LG ThinQ™ UP upgradeable home appliances including refrigerators, washers, dryers, oven ranges, and dishwashers. Launched in South Korea in January, 2022, LG ThinQ UP will begin rolling out internationally starting from March, 2023, in the U.S., with availability in other key markets to follow.

To ensure the seamless transfer of data from the box to the TV, the company developed an algorithm that instantly identifies the optimal transmission path. Additionally, for maximum signal strength, the box’s antenna can be easily rotated and/or tilted to align with the TV’s location. Located inside LG’s booth at CES, the Creator’s Room perfectly illustrates how the company’s premium home appliances can blend in with and enhance any lifestyle. Customer-Centered Innovations for a Better Life
CEO Cho highlighted LG’s commitment to providing new value to its customers through the introduction of groundbreaking innovations, such as LG OLED, which has changed customers’ viewing experience completely. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, LG OLED continues to set the industry standard for picture quality and unprecedented customer experiences. Future Businesses to Expand the Customer Experience

To expand the customer experience in more various fields, the company is also operating various in-house programs to foster innovators, encouraging LG employees to bravely adapt to new challenges.

At CES, LG unveiled some products developed under the LG Labs, the company’s new project that encompasses products, services and marketing activities based on experimental ideas and creative concepts from both inside and outside the company; ‘Hover Gym’, a fitness solution utilizing motor control technology that allows users to exercise without separate dumbbells; ‘excicle’, a home workout solution delivering an exceptional indoor cycling experience; ‘brid.zzz’, an optimal sleep care solution that senses brain waves to create beats that help users relax; and ‘pluspot’, a service platform that provides rewards when personal transportation devices such as electric bicycles and electric kickboards are mounted on its wireless charging stations.

LG is broadening its business portfolio to encompass new areas such as electric vehicle (EV) charging, digital health and content services for the webOS platform. At the conference, Cho introduced one of LG’s key partners in content services – Tom Ryan, President and CEO of Paramount Streaming. Mr. Ryan made an appearance to highlight the combined efforts by the two companies to offer an incredible experience to tens of millions of customers worldwide. “Pluto TV, the leading free streaming television service, is expanding our channel integration for LG Channels, adding over 100 channels this quarter globally,” said CEO Tom Ryan. Mr. Ryan concluded by stating that the two companies will continue to expand their partnership and broaden their capabilities together in 2023.

A Pledge to Create a Better Future
Concluding his presentation, Cho reiterated LG’s steadfast commitment as a responsible corporate citizen to realize a sustainable future, emphasizing the company’s focus to create a better future for all. Efforts include the Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities (GITC) which, since 2011, has empowered more than 4,000 youth to build skills in technology with the goal to eliminate the digital divide for persons with disabilities.

The CEO also mentioned the company’s promise to increase the accessibility of LG’s products and services to ensure easy use by the disabled and elderly. Guided by feedback from LG’s ‘Disabled Advisory Group’ – in operation since 2021 and comprised of members with varying abilities and accessibility experts – the company is continuously introducing barrier-free products that can be conveniently used by all. In South Korea, the company has various measures in place to strengthen accessibility, such as developing product manuals that incorporate audio and sign language guides, distributing braille stickers for appliances and operating sign language counseling centers.

Aligned with this, the CEO announced the four finalists of the inaugural LIFE’S GOOD AWARD, an innovation challenge set up by the company to promote its Life’s Good vision and empower innovators eager to make a positive impact on people’s lives and the planet. The finalists – Day1Lab, Dot Inc., NONA Desalination and SOLUTUM – will receive LG’s support to help fine tune and launch their inventive solutions to create a better life for all. After the four teams pitch their ideas for a final time on January 16 at LG Sciencepark in Seoul, Korea, a total prize money of USD 1.05 million will be differentially divided amongst the four winners, according to award ranking.

LG CEO William Cho Shares Focus for the Future

In Year-End Address to Employees, CEO Stresses Shift to Future-Ready
Business Structure to Create New Value Recognized by Customers
LG Electronics’ (LG) CEO William Cho outlined the company’s areas of focus for the future, building on the “successful changes” and “winning growth” of the past year, at his year-end address. The livestreamed discussion gave Cho the opportunity to connect with LG employees and communicate four strategic areas the company will focus on in 2023 to reshape into a future-oriented business structure.

To begin, Cho highlighted the importance of advancing LG’s business portfolio. “To increase corporate value, we need to accelerate qualitative growth and secure growth engines in areas with high potential,” Cho noted. “We will focus on maximizing the capabilities of existing businesses to strengthen the competitiveness of our core business while also rapidly fostering strategic businesses for the future.”

The CEO then continued by emphasizing the need to establish a customer-centered business operating system. “We need to produce tangible results through innovation that combines the customer experience and digital transformation,” Cho continued. “To strengthen our customer-centered mindset and improve the way we work, we aim to achieve innovative customer experiences that exceed expectations by setting clear mid- to long-term goals and roadmaps.”

Next, Cho cited the strengthening of the company’s future preparation capabilities. “We need to secure future technologies and strengthen software competitiveness through R&D, increase brand value as well as improve brand reputation, especially among the younger generation,” said Cho. “We also need to foster online businesses and intensify digital marketing to expand into the e-commerce business.”

He also noted uncertainties surrounding the business environment. To fundamentally reshape LG’s competitive edge and improve operational efficiency with the ability to preemptively respond to changes in business environment, the company recently organized a special taskforce. “We expect these measures will allow us to build a healthier corporate structure, enabling the company to constantly produce positive results and create new customer value by securing long-term competitiveness in terms of business advancement,” said Cho.

Cho asked everyone tuning in to consider what – and who – defines LG Electronics as a company. “Each and every one of us at LG is a ‘Value Creator’ for our customers. My hope is that everyone truly appreciates our customers and contemplates how we can provide them with more and better values by meeting, listening to and becoming them,” he continued. “It is because we know that the answer always lies with our customers that we keep looking deeper into their lives and gathering insights to deliver first, unique and new customer experiences.”

Cho ended his talk by reminding everyone at LG that the future will be determined by the way we think and act now, which is, ultimately, to prepare for the future. “We need to courageously go through the trials and difficulties that we inevitably encounter in our individual challenges with an optimistic attitude and positive mindset that we can definitely succeed, as we have done so far,” Cho concluded.

Although its expansive interior provides 25 percent more room for storing food and drinks than LG’s previous counter-depth models,2 the new French-Door can still help to save space in the kitchen thanks to its smaller footprint.

The new model also brings a simple yet sophisticated aesthetic to the kitchen courtesy of LG’s unique mirror-InstaView panel and flat door design. Bordered in sleek stainless steel, the mirror-coated glass of the seamless InstaView panel covers almost the entire right-hand door of the refrigerator. Just by knocking twice on the panel, users can check inside without having to open the door – a time-saving convenience that prevents cold air from escaping and energy from being wasted. The subtle, minimalist beauty and clean, modern lines of LG’s latest InstaView are further enhanced by the discrete pocket handles applied to the fridge’s ‘flat’ doors.

Additionally, the new French-Door refrigerator can create four different types of ice: cubed ice, crushed ice, LG’s exclusive, slow-melting round Craft Ice, and the new mini cubed ice. Helping to keep drinks refreshingly cool, LG’s mini cubed ice makes a great addition to juices, sodas or cocktails. With four frozen choices at their disposal, users can select whichever style of ice best suits their need, their drink, or the occasion.

Featuring LG’s cutting-edge technologies, the new fridge seals in the freshness of ingredients for longer and helps maintain the hygiene of the built-in water dispenser.
