THE INTERN movie review

There's so much to love about The Intern starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Aside from being starstruck of the two, this flick will make you turn back to old school and appreciate it more with all the  factors happening in the environment. Reminding us the simplicity of life and striving for greatness and love for something intangible in spite of having the things that we want.
In The Intern, Robert De Niro's character, Ben, teaches us how to take things seriously and work hard for something. Taking the risk of applying for the internship, it gets us all excited of whether he would be able to take the job. He also gives life lessons, I wish we could get all of his quotes in the movie and apply it to our own lives. He also reminds us of the respect for the elderly, since they've known more and better than any of us. Of how director Nancy Meyers present his character from start to finish, you'll love and respect to Ben and even to elders because of his good character.

Anne Hathaway (Jules Ostin) on the other hand, reflects the people of today. We want things fast and given to us on the plate, resulting to neglect of the more important things in life. Clashing the characters of the two can leave us with either wtf* or aww moments that should be imbibed and carried on generation after generation. But she is an inspiring boss. Not bossy and develops great rapport with his colleagues and subordinates which I think can be good secrets of raising a company.

As The Intern is done in corporate setting, we can reflect on proper demeanor in the office as to how to present ourselves and to approach the other people. It's funny that it also gets to tap office romance and politics, opening the doors to how we should respond and resolve corporate issues. Good thing that Ben gained friends in the company.
Adam DeVine, Zack Pearlman, Jason Orley and Robert De Niro
The Intern is now showing in cinemas nationwide, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures (Philippines). Watch and fall in love with the trailer again below.

INTERSTELLAR movie review

From acclaimed director Christopher Nolan, we are about to have an intergalactic journey to search for something that will help us survive when the world is coming to an end. The quest for survival is in the hands of a group of NASA explorers lead by Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a devout father whose dream is to have a good life for his family.
INTERSTELLAR gives us appeals of what we are to protect during our existence. For Cooper, he is torn between his ambition and saving the whole human race. It also tells us in context about preservation of anything. Sometimes we really push ourselves to go away with our loved ones for a reason. And Nolan has reminded us that how hard it is to be away, we promise ourselves that we have to go back, or at least try. Interstellar was deeply emotional. It looked like Con-Air in a few scenes in the views of StarTrek.

It is really good. Is it worthy of an award? Maybe. Though sci-fi movies take filming to another level, Christopher Nolan managed to work in a 70mm film (IMAX format). No 3D formats available but its definitely worth the watch. The feels of getting outer space and the emotions of human relationships are absolutely felt. You will have a great three hours watching this film. I cannot take a lift from my seat to see what's next from scene to scene. Images are well crafted and the script is well-written. Not to mention that you have great casts like Award-winners, Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway.

Opening tomorrow in theaters nationwide, Interstellar is distributed by Warner Bros. Philippines. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, with supporting cast, Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain and more.

Les Misérables movie review

one word is not enough to discuss the grandeur of the movie Les Misérables which makes a buzz in the Philippines today. after a very unfortunate incident from last week's screening, every body still looked forward to seeing it finally.
so this one word is just: WOW! i've really anticipated for the performances by Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Samantha Barks as Eponine, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen as the Thénardiers. all the cast had their own spectacular scenes and musical numbers. vocals are amazing and worked pretty well except for Russell Crowe who didn't have that vocal power among the rest. but he still stood out for that. haha!
among all the cast, Amanda Seyfried had the sweetest voice. but it was just used for their scene with Marius. and the most powerful was from Fantine. Anne Hathaway and Samantha Barks delivered the most emotional songs which i felt very well for the first time.
as for the make up and prosthetics, they were really executed very well especially for Hugh. adding to it when he dedicatedly lose some pounds for the Valjean role. Russell Crowe as Javert was different from Geoffrey Rush's delivery which was more obsessed in finding Valjean. but his death was more solid that Rush's.

well i hope you would also enjoy Les Miserables in the way i loved it. i'd like to see it again soon. :)

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES movie review

the epic conclusion of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is a really must-watch for all of us who look out for something big established in the trilogy. Christopher Nolan didn't fail us to be more excited and i wanted something more -- a new sequel probably.
this last film focused on "what would Batman do?" after his retirement with the last movie where he fought Joker. tension and civil war arises after Bane (Tom Hardy) escaped his arrest and came up with a plan to put down the bureaucracy in Gotham City. on the other hand, Bruce Wayne gets a new problem with Selena Kyle (Anne Hathaway) where his fingerprints were copied to gain access to Gotham's big resources.
what i like about this series is the way it was presented in a more realistic way rather than very cartoony. though the bat gear is not shown as how it works, but it was used in a high-class but aided with primary human reaction to defend himself like as how Batman used it.
Blake (Joseph Gordon Levitt), is in store for a big revelation in the movie.

it's great to watch it if all people pay attention to the movie. opening today in cinemas, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is presented by Warner Bros. Pictures, in regular and IMAX format.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES character posters

now i have to refresh myself with the first two movies before i meet them in the concluding movie. Anne Hathaway, as mentioned before, will be playing Catwoman and Tom Hardy is Bane. i just got to have to read the profiles of these villains right now.

Bane, Batman and Catwoman

i was not a fan that much of the latest Batman series when Christopher Nolan teamed up with Christian Bale. until i saw the features especially with The Dark Knight. i was late to realize that it was the best Batman series ever with the realistic action sequences and not too childish like the previous franchises.

LES MISERABLES 2012 trailer released

the dream lives on this Christmas as Universal Pictures revives the well-loved musical Les Miserables in the movie screens. from the novel of the same title telling a story during the French Revolution in 1832.
involving a powerhouse cast with Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine and Amanda Seyfried as Cosette. directed by Tom Hooper, this will probably spark the theater fans to rush to the ticket houses and reserve their slots until it is sold out. i've never seen this on stage but the one with Liam Neeson is quite good.

Hugh Jackman (Valjean) and Russell Crowe (Javert)

the musical on stage lasts about 3 hours so maybe does this movie. but i suggest that you have to stick on the message of it and see yourself in the situation of the cast. you'll hunger for justice and liberty for you and your children. the story will very much reflect of what the society experiences today.

in the teaser trailer that was released recently, we will hear Anne Hathaway performing I Dreamed A Dream. we'll see different scenes from the movie too. i remember Uma Thurman and Geoffrey Rush doing the same thing as with Liam Neeson.

RIO movie review

from the makers of ICE AGE, get festive with Carnaval in 2011's new animation, RIO! featuring the voices of Jesse Eisenberg as Blu and Anne Hathaway as Jewel.

a lot of issues were subliminally portrayed in 20th Century Fox's RIO. a survival of an endangered specie, illegal trade of animals and child labor. all issues go back to one single source, poverty. every aspect has been weaved to put on a story that will have a good fun impact on the audience but i hope it can also send the messages that i've seen. most of all, the action that should be done by the Brazilian government to address these problems.

Blu is the only blue macau left on the planet. he has come to Brazil to find his mate. and being an endangered bird with great value, they have been captured and supposed to be sold at trade. trying to escape, Blu's mate Jewel discovers that he cannot fly since he was domesticated for a long time. Blu has to overcome this dilemma to get back into sanctuary and propagate his specie. he comes to know different birds, and even befriending a bulldog. on the other side, whole of Rio de Janeiro is preparing for some fun in carnaval. everything gets twisted as his owner searches for him.

there's also candid appearance by current famous iPad game, Angry Birds. this time, they are in 3D. it is also great to see it on 3D.

i love the soundtrack with all that samba and festive music. this is one great musical with birds and colors. Jamie Foxx and Will.I.Am also did great for the voices of their characters that gave fun to the movie. not to mention the greatness of setting it in Brazil.

RIO will be showing on April 7 by 20th Century Fox.
