PIXELS movie review

Thank you Resorts World Manila for the exclusive screening of PIXELS. PIXELS is another Happy Madison movie that you could almost relate to every detail in it. From teenage years until you realize that it is a throwback extravaganza with a twist.
Well it started from 1986 when I was still 2 years old, and then got familiarized with video games in 1989. When I got acquainted with arcade, that is when I can already relate with Brenner, played by Adam Sandler, who almost did not have any time for other things. Like many individuals, we also have this one bully that haunts us for life; in Brenner' case Eddie (Peter Dinklage) that successfully gets what he wants and tormented Brenner until his adulthood. More ironic stuff in the movie were Brenner's dumb friend turns out to be the president of the country and the sore loser gets to win a hot girlfriend.
The movie is a feast in the eyes of a video gamer. Gallaga, Centipede, Pacman, Donkey Kong, and more were present and they're set to destroy the earth. But then there are the good guys, QBERT is one of them and helped Brenner and the gang to save the planet. Millennials would be very pleased to see all 80s and 90s stuff in the pile and would be talking about the games they played during those days.

PIXELS is a good movie in 3D as it gives great visual impact with the colors and attacks on the effects. You'll love to see the characters go out of the screen and enjoy the humor that goes with it.
PIXELS is directed by Chris Columbus and distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures (Philippines).

video games attack Earth in new comedy PIXELS

A new war on Earthlings vs aliens is featured in new comedy PIXELS which stars Adam Sandler and Kevin James. the movie is set to invade theaters in May 2015 and is directed by Chris Columbus. Posters reveal very familiar games, Donkey Kong, Gallaga, Space Invaders, Pacman and Centipede attacking world landmarks.
See full posters HERE
These games would appear to be alien assaults against the humans as video games seem to be a declaration of war against them. President Will Cooper (James) has to call on his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Dinklage and Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Monaghan plays the team's unique weapons specialist.

The action-comedy is directed by Chris Columbus from a story by Tim Herlihy and a screenplay by Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling, based on the original short film of the same name by Patrick Jean. Produced by Adam Sandler, Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe, and Allen Covert.

Mel Brooks joins Hotel Transylvania 2

Filmmaker and comedienne Mel Brooks fits perfectly in the casting of Hotel Transylvania 2. Sony Pictures Animations has announced this wonderful comedic addition to the sea of monsters interacting with a human. Showing September 2015 in theaters worldwide, distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing International.
Mel Brooks takes on the character of Vlad, Dracula's (Adam Sandler) father. The grumpy old-old-old-old-fashioned vampire who gets into the hotel for an impromptu family reunion. The movie is now promising an insanely funny experience. "I’m having a wonderful time with the character Vlad. He’s been around for eons and he’s a pretty crabby guy. Basically, he reminds me of me," Brooks says. He celebrates 40 years after doing the horror-comedy classic "Young Frankenstein."
Mel Brooks is noted for his award-winning works like the satire "The Producers" and more. Sony Pictures Releasing International is securing the talents of additional high-profile stars around the world to voice the ancient one for the non-English versions of the film. So far, these regional Vlads include: France’s Michel Galabru, the esteemed 92-year-old actor who has appeared in more than 200 films; Japan’s Junji Inagawa, whose voice is instantly recognizable as the “go to” narrator of horror films, radio programs and DVDs; Holland’s Bram Van Der Vlugt, who, for decades, was the most requested Dutch TV/film “Sinterklaas” (Saint Nicholas); and Belgium’s Jacques Vermeire, the well-known Flemish performer with decades of memorable comic television and feature film performances.

BLENDED movie review

Remembering over a decade ago, we had lots of fun with the Drew-Adam tandem with The Wedding Singer which eventually became a Broadway hit of the same title. Now, they return as parents lost in relationship with BLENDED -- a love found in Africa with the consent of their kids.
a movie that presents a person in so many levels. Jim (Sandler) and Lauren's (Barrymore) search for love gives a person hope and chance to move on from a failed relationship. their children, going through puberty, opens the doors for love and enjoyment. people around them push the magical experience and makes it worthwhile and memorable.
what's more fun about the movie is the unexpected appearances by Terry Crews and singing from nowhere accompanied by his doo-wap backups.

like any of Happy Madison movies, Blended also has some serious messages to tell. for one is that we shouldn't judge the person any time especially at the first time of  meeting. for parents, allowing the kids to be on their own with the proper guidance also teaches them to grow.

Watch Blended opening today in theaters near you. Distributed by Warner Bros. Philippines.

ADAM SANDLER's new funny kicks

In Columbia Pictures’ new hit comedy Grown Ups, America’s favorite funnyman Adam Sandler plays Lenny Feder, who was once the ringleader-of-sorts among his childhood buddies, the one who could convince the others to do the silly things kids do. He’s since grown up to be a wheeling, dealing Hollywood agent.

Sandler stars with Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider who all play best friends when they were young kids and are now getting together with their families on the Fourth of July weekend for the first time in thirty years. Picking up where they left off, they discover that growing older doesn’t mean growing up.

Was Sandler worried before starting production that there would be any unhealthy one-upmanship amongst the stars? “No, no,” he says. “I think we might have been competitive in our 20s, but that’s the beauty of doing a movie together in our 40s.”

Grown Ups director Dennis Dugan and Sandler have worked together many times and enjoy their collaboration. Dugan admits, “It’s very fun and very challenging. I always thought I was the hardest worker on earth until I met Adam and then I realized that I was at best second. Like this one – Adam thought up the movie, co-wrote the movie, stars in the movie, and produces the movie, so he’s pretty involved. He’s very challenging – he always wants your work to be fresh, new, and creative.”

Adam has enjoyed phenomenal success as an actor, writer, producer and musician. His films have grossed almost $3 billion worldwide and include the recent box office smashes Bedtime Stories for Walt Disney Studios; Sony Pictures’ You Don’t Mess with the Zohan and Universal’s comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.

Sandler was most recently seen in Universal’s Funny People, written and directed by Judd Apatow and starring with Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Erica Bana, Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman. Next year, Sandler will star in Sony’s Just Go With It, opposite Jennifer Aniston, and will lend his voice for Sony’s comedy Zookeeper alongside Kevin James, Jon Favreau, Sylvester Stallone, Faizon Love, Leslie Bibb and Rosario Dawson.

Previously, Sandler has been seen in the starring role opposite Don Cheadle in Sony’s Reign Over Me for director Mike Binder and the box-office hits Click, starring with Kate Beckinsale, and The Longest Yard, starring with Chris Rock and Burt Reynolds. He also starred in James L. Brooks’ Spanglish, opposite Tea Leoni; the romantic comedy 50 First Dates, with Drew Barrymore; Anger Management, with Jack Nicholson; and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Punch-Drunk Love, for which he received a Best Actor Golden Globe nomination.

Opening soon across the Philippines, Grown Ups is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit www.Facebook.com/ColumbiaPicturesPH and like the fanpage to get the latest movie news, video clips and contests.

SALMA HAYEK lead the girls in GROWN UPS

In Columbia Pictures’ new comedy GROWN UPS, the filmmakers found a trio of extremely talented women to play the guys’ better halves. “Salma Hayek, Maria Bello and Maya Rudolph are all really excellent actresses and comediennes,” says director Dennis Dugan. “When the girls have their scenes together, it’s a very different kind of comedy than what’s going on with the guys. A movie needs that kind of change of pace, and these women, all incredible talents, gave us that.”

In the film, Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider play best friends when they were young kids and are now getting together with their families on the Fourth of July weekend for the first time in thirty years. Picking up where they left off, they discover that growing older doesn’t mean growing up.

Salma Hayek plays Roxanne, wife of Adam Sandler’s character, Lenny. Roxanne’s a glamorous fashion designer who’s in for a bit of a culture shock when Lenny brings his family to the lake house. “They’re supposed to be on their way to see her fashion show in Milan,” says Hayek. “It’s a culture shock. She’s definitely a fish out of water.”

What was it like to be surrounded by so many comedians? “It was intimidating at the beginning. I was thinking, ‘Oh, they’re all used to stand-up comedy, and they’re making up all these jokes,’” admits Hayek. “But everybody was so nice – no one had an attitude. I just relaxed, and soon, I came up with little things – not even jokes at the beginning, just little actions – and they were so supportive. I was so excited – they were laughing at my stuff!”

“The other thing I discovered is that Adam is incredibly generous,” she says. “Adam never says, ‘Oh, this is the best joke, I’m going to say it.’ He gives the joke to the best character to say it. He also figures out who hasn’t had a funny thing in the previous scene – he looks after everyone.”

Maria Bello, who plays Sally, Kevin James’ character’s wife, went so far as to invent an entire backstory for her character. “I think Sally was probably a cheerleader back then. Eric (James) was probably the captain of the football team. We have two kids and I’m the ultimate mother. They’re the two from town who stayed in town.”

“Kevin is the loveliest, yummiest, most beautiful man,” says Bello. “I just fell in love with him from the moment we met. He reminds me of my brother, Joey, from Philly – he’s the ultimate dad, a husband who’s really committed to his family, committed to his work, down to earth. He’s very funny, but he also has great depth to him – he has real moments that moved me so much. I even cried in one scene, he was so authentic.”

“Adam Sandler took a chance, seeing me in a light comedy,” says Bello of Sandler who also wrote and produced the film. “I’d never done that kind of a movie before, and it was a challenge. But Sally is a real character. She’s the kind of person who’s obsessed with celebrities – she reads all the tabloids – but she’s also so good-hearted and compassionate. She’s funny, simple, and sweet, and loves everybody.”

Maya Rudolph
plays Deanne, the wife of Chris Rock’s character. “She’s the breadwinner of the family, so it sort of leaves Chris’ character to take care of the household, which includes their two children as well as Deanne’s mother. That provides a little bit of a tension in the household.”

“It’s been a lot of fun watching Chris play this part – the dainty, sensitive, stay-at-home husband,” says Rudolph. “It’s really different from anything I’ve seen him do before. I think he really enjoyed it, allowing my character to run over him a bit. He really made me laugh and forget I was really pregnant.”

“Being in this movie reminds me of growing up,” says Rudolph. “I had an older brother that was funny – he was older enough that when his friends would come over, I was excited – ‘The cool kids are at our house! I was always trying to be funny with the cool kids. This was just like that!”

reunion in GROWN UPS

Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider head up an all-star comedy cast in Columbia Pictures’ GROWN UPS, the story of five childhood friends who reunite thirty years later to meet each others’ families for the first time. When their beloved former basketball coach dies, they return to their home town to spend the summer at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier.

Sandler came up with the idea of a guy who feels like he and his family have lost their perspective of what’s important in life. So, when he unexpectedly has to go back to his home town, he decides to use it as an opportunity to get back to his roots and get his family on the right track. To do this, he rents a lake house and invites his old friends and their families to come and stay with them for the Fourth of July weekend.

“The whole project was really appealing,” says director Dennis Dugan. “These real-life friends get together for a summer to make a movie about friends who get together for a summer at a lake house. It’s a bittersweet reunion, because their coach has died, but they’re also happy to see each other. They’re meeting each other’s families – it’s them and their wives and girlfriends and kids and dogs – at a moment when they’re all transitioning in their lives.”

The underlying sweetness to the story proved to be the key in bringing the all-star talent together. “It’s a really, really good script that Adam wrote with Fred Wolf,” says Rob Schneider. “It’s very funny and it has interesting characters. Dennis really encouraged us to make it real – get out there, play around with it, and make it a natural performance.”

As co-star Maya Rudolph puts it, “There are a lot of funny people in this movie, but it’s not just a lot of funny people in this movie. It’s a movie about old friends played by people who really are old friends. You can see that history come out in the relationships.”

“Adam created something special for all of us,” notes Salma Hayek who plays Sandler’s wife. “All of our children are about the same age, and mostly girls, and they all bonded immediately. It was really a family environment – it was perfect.”

In the movie, the five characters are supposed to have enough natural basketball talent that as children they could win a local championship. However, the guys agree: only Sandler and James have game, with Spade and Schneider a step back, and Rock bringing up the rear. “I’m OK – I have a few trick shots,” says Spade. “Sandler’s the best of us, and Kevin’s pretty good. I’m OK, Schneider’s OK… sorry, Rock.”

“I am not an athlete,” admits Rock. “Can I play? No. I couldn’t play when I was young, but at least then, I played a lot, so I found ways to contribute. Now that I’m older, I really suck. It’s just horrible.”

The job of balancing all of the talent and realizing the vision for the film falls to Dennis Dugan, a veteran Happy Madison Productions collaborator. “I’ve lost count of how many movies I’ve made with Adam,” he jokes. “I’ve done four movies with Rob Schneider, three with David Spade, three with Chris Rock, and this is my second with Kevin James.”

Opening soon across the Philippines , Grown Ups is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit www.Facebook.com/ColumbiaPicturesPH and like the fanpage to get the latest movie news, video clips and contests.

SNEAK PEEK: “GROWN UPS”

Some guys need a little extra time to mature. In Columbia Pictures’ new comedy GROWN UPS, Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider play best friends when they were young kids and are now getting together with their families on the Fourth of July weekend for the first time in thirty years. Picking up where they left off, they discover that growing older doesn’t mean growing up.

The real-life chemistry between the actors translated seamlessly to the characters they play on screen. In fact, many of the stars of GROWN UPS have known each other for years. Rock says, “Most of the guys met at ‘Saturday Night Live.’ I met Adam doing stand-up 20 years ago easily at Comic Strip in New York . We just hit it off when we were the younger funnier guys in the club. Spade I met at ‘SNL.’ Schneider I met at ‘SNL.’”

Adam Sandler also wrote the script, an irresistible idea for the cast and crew. “Adam’s whole idea was that everyone would bring their families and we’d all have a nice summer at the lake house,” remembers director Dennis Dugan. “It was one of the best summers of my life. Because everyone knew everyone else so well, it was like going to a really great party. Adam really wanted that kind of atmosphere to come across in the movie.”

GROWN UPS also stars Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, and Maya Rudolph. The film is directed by Dennis Dugan, produced by Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo and written by Sandler & Fred Wolf.

Opening soon across the Philippines , GROWN UPS is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit www.Facebook.com/ColumbiaPicturesPH and like the fanpage to get the latest movie news, video clips and contests.
