Prepare for the upcoming disaster: SAN ANDREAS

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson faces new danger in a magnitude 9 earthquake in new film "San Andreas" by New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow Pictures.
The San Andreas Fault is a continental transform fault that extends roughly 810 miles (1,300 km) through California in the United States (Wiki). And a pilot (Johnson) and his estranged wife are on their way to save their only daughter from the place where the earthquake hits. They would think that the danger may be over but it just had started. Watch the trailer here:
The film reunites Dwayne Johnson and director Brad Peyton and producer Beau Flynn, following their collaboration on the global hit “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.” The film also stars Carla Gugino (“Night at the Museum”), Alexandra Daddario (“Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Ioan Gruffudd (“Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”), Archie Panjabi (TV’s “The Good Wife”), Hugo Johnstone-Burt (Australian TV’s “Home and Away”), Art Parkinson (TV’s “Game of Thrones”) and Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti (“Cinderella Man”).

Opening across the Philippines in both 3D and 2D format in May 2015, “San Andreas” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

ENGLISH ONLY, PLEASE movie review

Thanks to the power of Facebook, English Only, Please has effectively marketed itself and gained applause for both moviegoers and critics alike. I also congratulate the MMFF entry for bagging 7 major awards, a great achievement to the actors, director and production team that some people wouldn't think that a romcom may get. Call me biased but EOP is just one of the movies that I really look forward to at the festival along with Kubot which I have yet to see.
Playing Tere Madlansacay is Jennylyn Mercado, a self-supporting woman through her earnings in tutoring foreigners to learn the English language. Who also gets her money raked in by her sex fling (played by Kean Cipriano) who also gets me irritated by the nerves. She gets hired by a Fil-Am businessman Julian Parker (Derek Ramsay) to translate his anger letter for effective delivery to her ex (Isabel Oli) which left him years ago. Comforting Tere is her bestie Cai Cortez, a single mother taking her chances on love through Tinder and Facebook but usually fails. The story revolves in the reality of our time where people check each other out then gone.

Whether romantic or not, the movie affects many kinds of people. The phrase "Traffic sa EDSA" has become a trend to poke people of becoming late. Teaching us to be professional and respect other people's times which you wouldn't know might be our future. Tere also raises the points of the bread winners and the working class, that sometimes they get tired of giving but they do it because of love. Derek's character also mirror those people who keep their secrets, thus "Don't ask" also became a powerful line in the movie.
We all know that the jeepney bay scene is one of the memorable scenes and that giving a resbak to the barker served all recently-attached people out there. Jennylyn's viral scene will surely plant in our heads and would stay forever. I also liked the inserts of vocabulary giving a funny twists to the meanings of each word or phrase.
English Only, Please I would say really deserves the MMFF awards it has received. If you haven't seen it yet, let's hope that the cinemas continue to screen it.

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: Secret of the Tomb movie review

For one last time, Larry the night guard takes us to an adventure discovering an ancient secret of the tablet of Ahkmenrah. As something weird happens to our wax friends, the tablet corrodes and soon the magic will be gone forever. Larry and our friends of the museum have to go across the globe to solve it and keep the magic that makes us enjoy every Night at the Museum.
In this final installment, Larry reconnects with the three old men from the first movie. It appears that they build the connection on how to solve the secret of the tablet. And there, Larry continues his adventure to London and opening new life at the London Museum with the tablet. We'll meet new characters like Ahkmenrah's parents and Sir Lancelot. A tour at myths and other legends. With the first two movies teaching us about historical characters, this gives more fun like adding Rebel Wilson to the cast. Even I was surprised when Hugh Jackman makes his appearance as himself and played with his Wolverine character.

It's just sad to say that this will be Robin Williams' last movie. And still we're getting a very quotable quote from the inspirational 26th President of the United States of America which sir Lancelot has no idea about.
Opening January 8 in theaters nationwide, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is distributed by 20th Century Fox.
