preview on SEUSSICAL by Repertory Children's Theater

coming August 13 to December 18 of 2011 is a well-loved children's musical good even for the young at heart. Repertory Philippines presents Seussical (Theater for Young Audiences) based on Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! the musical is inline with Repertory Philippines' anniversary of the Children's Theater that brought us the tales of Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Sleeping Beauty.

Seussical reintroduces to us Dr. Seuss' most-loved characters into the stage. Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty brought to life Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz the Kangaroo and her joey, Mayzie La Bird and a boy named Jojo meeting the world of the Whos. of course, the famous Cat in the Hat joins us in this fantastic show. kids will surely love the presentation as they may have participation in the show.

an extravagant show of music, dance and stage design with morals about a lovable elephant named Horton who finds himself taking care of an invisible world of Whos. discovering their world in a speck of dust. since other creatures don't see what Horton believes, they think he's crazy, knowing elephants have very good thinking abilities and seldom make a mistake. but this one is major! so these creatures teamed up against him for they will be in danger of Horton's misleading information.

Horton's tale teaches us to be kind, to love and to believe in the possibilities of our imagination. Repertory Philippines incorporates bright costumes, stage design, music and grandiose choreography that will let us imagine the world that connected Horton and the Whos.

Repertory Philippines also came up with the contest for the schools. each school is asked to draw what a perfect world would be. any medium may be used. and chosen drawings will be included in the set as the cast sings Solla Sellew. Solla Sellew is Horton's perfect world. and the best drawing will win a special prize from Repertory Philippines.

THOR movie review

Paramount Pictures bring us the god of thunder from Norse mythology. Marvel's THOR starring Chris Hemsworth in the title character with Natalie Portman. THOR had recently opened in the Philippines, April 29.

here we find the story of the god of thunder who was banished from their world, Asgard, after inducing war against legend enemies, the ice giants. he lands on earth in Oklahoma as the mortal Donald Blake. he thought he can live as an Asgardian but he learned mortal values and doings and gained mortal characteristics like compassion to other races. here he meets the scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) whom he very well connected with and protected from the dangers in the war of the gods.

in Asgard, his stepbrother Loki has been scheming to elevate his position to the throne. he was ultimately jealous of his brother Thor and have done everything to rule Asgard. he even connected to the ice giants but betrayed them for the ambition of ruling the universe.

i think it is pretty well done focusing on Thor's beginning and how he became a hero for earth. the depiction of Asgard is very royal and futuristic. it's golden buildings glare in the light of day. and Thor's hammer the Mjolnir approve of the powerful strength of Thor's physique.

since Thor is part of the Avengers, you will have a glimpse of what's coming next. wait for the scene after credits and you'll figure out what.

WATER FOR ELEPHANTS movie review

let us all look back on the most spectacular on earth that united two hearts in Water for Elephants. the newest historical movie by 20th Century Fox based on the book written by Sara Gruen starring Robert Pattinson (Jacob Jankowski), Reese Witherspoon (Marlena) and Christoph Waltz (August) coming May 4 in Philippine cinemas.

Jacob Jankowski remembers 1931 in joining the tour of the Benzini Bros. Circus after he had learned the tragedy committed by his parents. he was a student then in Cornell taking up veterinary medicine. and upon knowing the accident, Jacob almost didn't know where to start and left everything he had. when the train of the Benzini Bros. passes by him, he jumped over not knowing what he will be into. he was turned to be a worker of a circus doing manual labor. he discovers the show and star of it, Marlena, who is in close contact with the animals. their paths cross while checking on the horse that is suffering from abscess. Jacob had developed a special look on Marlena which will not very good for him and might put him in danger.

taking care of the animal, August knew about his veterinary skills, so he was promoted to tend the needs of the animals that brought him closer to Marlena. he has confessed her love and they had a special affair that outraged August. when August's true colors start to show up, Jacob planned to take Marlena out of the tyranny and cruelty to start a new peaceful life.

but August's power followed them. Marlena was forced to go back to August and Jacob was beaten almost killing him. but the power of love is no match for any cruelty. the other circus members have their support for the two and they also don't want to stay in August's cruel doings and awful treatment to the animals. the escape lead to the fall of the business and happy life of Jacob and Marlena.

love really has its way. there's no stopping loving hearts to be with each other despite any dangers around them. August deserved the way he was treated back by his workers because of his cruelty. my heart breaks when he jabs the stick into the elephant's body until it bleeds. he really doesn't care for the situation of everything around him just to push through with a good show and earn some money. money really isn't everything, what's important is that you have people to back you up just as Jacob had.

i remember two movies that may have the same themes as this. Titanic and Moulin Rouge. not to mention you have Reese Witherspoon, an Academy Award winner to get in the cast. as Marlena, she was very graceful to be the star of the show and she did well in putting up her character. also her acrobatic and circus training that did well. nice cinematography as well.

PET PHOTO CONTEST
1. Photo entry must depict the owner and his/ her pet bonding at SM Center Muntinlupa. There are no restrictions as to the composition of the photo – be it taken in the common area of the mall or in stores. Anything may be the subject of the photo.

2. Photos must not contain inappropriate content, including, but not limited to:

• Obscene, pornographic or sexually-explicit / suggestive content or information
• Content that is considered offensive to the users, such as those which encourage the commission of an illegal, immoral or threatening activity
• Materials which are defamatory or libelous in character or those which violate the privacy of any group or individual.

3. Entries should be original shots of the contestant, must not be owned by other entity or subject of any copyright issue. Digitally enhancements are allowed.

4. Registration to the Facebook I ♥ My Pet Contest is from April 14 to May 7, 2011. Photo must be sent to smmuntinlupa.pets@yahoo.com. It must be in jpeg format with the subject “I My Pet” The following details must be included in the e-mail:
