DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: RODRICK RULES movie review

Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) is back with more antics in 20th Century Fox's sequel, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules! and now he has to overcome his new nemesis, his brother Rodrick (Devon Bostick). the evil older brother is on power to bully Greg. and he can do everything to put Greg into shame.

but after a major incident, their parents had left them and arrange things between them. there have been a huge "brothers deal" between the two and they had fun and got along well. after all the fun, all they have to do is to lie that "nothing happened." unfortunately, there is one bad fruit that came out. and this dissed out Rodrick and almost didn't speak to Greg again. but Greg couldn't help himself since he misses how fun they had with each other. so he made something extraordinary that for sure he will make Rodrick happy. good that things go well.

here we can clearly define the value of family put into the story. not just as how kids deal with middle school in the United States but the importance of someone who is there to back you up.

again, the pack of kids are still present. Rowley, Fregley, Patty and Chirag who will give you the colorful fun at middle school. all Greg's funny antics with Rowley will raise you from your seats laughing, grossed out or even blush on love. Greg will have a new love interest here. :)

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules opens April 15 2011 in the Philippines. distributed by 20th Century Fox.

ARTHUR movie review

if you have billions of dollars in hand, what would you do? for Arthur (Russel Brand), who is the sole-heir in a business empire, trashes his wealth out to the people around. and this includes party, alcohol and sex. bringing shame to his family, his mother arranged a marriage for him and another business heir, Susan (Jennifer Garner) and in return, Arthur has to brush off his childishness.

but along the way, he finds an average girl named Naomi (Greta Gerwid) who opened the doors to Arthur of living a simple life. Arthur then realizes what he has been missing and eventually fell in love with Naomi.

to save the business empire, Susan has a lot to work on Arthur to push through with the marriage. even to lie to herself that Arthur doesn't like her. desperate measures to have a share in Arthur's coming wealth when they get married.

but in all of this, Arthur's nanny, Hobson (Helen Mirren), is the only person that can understand him. she thinks that Arthur is a strong person and in how we see Arthur, he is worth loving for. too bad that she had to die before the story ends but this has made Arthur live on his own and grow up as a man. i love her character as i wish that there could be more like her -- who understands you in whatever you do and supports you.

it's so good to be like Arthur. but we have to remember the consequences and responsibilities as a person, whether we'll be rich or poor. mixed up with a lot of humor but it brings back the lesson to you at the end.

Arthur opens on April 23 in the Philippines, distributed by Warner Bros Pictures, a Warner Bros Entertainment Company.

HALL PASS movie review

isn't it nice when you are free outside of relationship, and you have to enjoy being single as much as you want? but what if you are attached in a relationship but you wish to enjoy the perks of singlehood? let Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis teach you how to do it in New Line Cinema's new love-comedy, Hall Pass, showing on April 6 in theaters nationwide.

Rick (Wilson) and Fred (Sudeikis) are both average husbands who are not surprisingly obsessed with hormonal activities and would love to live the life of bachelors once again. when their wives have filled up the cup, they are forced to give the hall pass -- driving their partners out of their marriages for one week!

and the boys' are free. having their wives' permissions to do whatever they want and don't feel bad about it. the two of them together with the other guys played along for the whole week and the possibilities had been endless and they are bachelors again. but there is one thing that they have stuck eyes on -- to have an affair with another woman until the hall pass expires.

almost there, there are unimaginable things that come their way and that's where all the funny part is. scenes are very close to the lives of people. how they tried to enjoy the time were almost not done.

even their wives had a time with their hall pass. in fact, they even had more of the great time than their husbands. it's good that they realize the purpose of the hall pass isn't just for their husbands but for themselves. it serves a lesson that there are great things with sticking to their own partner and be content and love them more.

Hall Pass is a New Line Cinema presentation to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. opening on April 6.

GNOMEO AND JULIET movie review

from Shakespeare's well-known tragedy comes a "cute" retelling entitled Gnomeo and Juliet which opens on April 13 in theaters nationwide.

instead of human beings, we find our lovers as garden gnomes. they take on responsibility of beautifying the garden of their humans. but when they are away, the long dispute between the families, Montague and Capulet are on. the catch is, don't get smashed or broken.

as the original story went, the feud of the two families banned our lovers to meet and even fall in love. but against all odds, they managed to express their love for each other. they have found common things with each other and the folks don't approve of what's going on between them. anger grew upon losing a family member, bit by bit.

but unlike Shakespeare's tragedy, this love story gives a happy and colorful ending. good for young audience to understand Shakespearean masterpiece before they get into the actual piece. delivery is very funny and the soundtrack is amusing. not to mention that Elton John has lent his songs for the movie. other characters show good support for the movie and has identified the differences between the disputing families. but still, they are characterized as cute and colorful gnomes which help you take it light on the story of Romeo and Juliet.

Gnomeo and Juliet also perfect for 3D viewing as the texture of the gnomes are clearly visible. relive the story of Romeo and Juliet with this cute animation.

opening on April 13 2011, in Digital 3D and regular format, “Gnomeo & Juliet” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.
