GABAY GURO: educators' well deserved perks!

My mom is retiring next year and i think that she really contributed well in the development of students. She teaches in the elementary department of St. Scholastica's Academy in Marikina and pupils look up to her as a fun teacher and most of the alumni even refer to her as a very understanding and lovable teacher. I think the way that she raised us is how she developed her students. She makes everything easy to understand. Mothers are often thankful with her teaching because their children receive high grades and performs well in school.

A good person deserves good things in life. And for a good teacher like my mom, she deserves a GABAY GURO membership from PLDT and SMART Foundation. Gabay-Guro is a social responsibility program for the teachers who are good examples of heroism and dedication to work. And so to pay tribute with the industriousness of our teachers, a membership to Gabay Guro will provide them good perks allowing them to enjoy privileges like pampering, wellness and shopping. They can also enjoy the internet because the foundation is putting up broadband connection in public schools which makes teaching and learning easier and faster. It comes with a Tribute Card which provides access to the teachers in the perks that they are given.

Other perks with Gabay Guro is that they can also have scholarships, educational trainings for improving the learning quality, livelihood programs and there's a big event for teachers during Teacher's Day!

My mom is already a member and a great thing is the membership is lifetime! She can enjoy these perks and even share it to us. If you know someone that deserves a good treat, have them join the Gabay Guro program. Visit www.gabayguro.com for details.

SENIOR YEAR movie review

most of us have went through the toughest times in high school. but we all also admit that even though we have the most difficult endeavors with the teachers and even classmates, we can say that we enjoyed that period in our lives.

that's what we can see in SENIOR YEAR - a movie by Jerrold Tarog. it features students in co-ed institution that undergo certain circumstances as an individual. in life, we experience pressure, encounter gossips, bullied, rotting relationships, love and sometimes, confusion. but as we are struggling, we find people who are there to support us, that know how to get out of it, resolve it and move on.

in every aspect, there is a certain attack and will make you realize that you've been in that part. you can certainly relate to what these children portray. actually, the acting is seamless and effortless. sometimes i see myself in the shoes of these kids. and then i realize that i survived high school and i laugh at the instances that i can relate to.

and 10 years after our graduation in high school, i am excited of how people come about with their lives. reunion might be not to far and there are a lot of things happened after that time.

the cast is composed of the students of a school in Alabang with the participation of professional actors like RJ Ledesma, Dimples Romana, LJ Reyes, Arnold Reyes, Che Ramos and Ina Feleo.

SENIOR YEAR starts screening in SM Cinemas nationwide on March 9. and teachers and students who will watch the movie can get a discount. just present your SCHOOL ID and pay only Php 100 in entrance.

sneak peek on GNOMEO AND JULIET

a new cute twist on the Shakespeare classic tragedy will come to theaters this summer. Touchstone Pictures presents GNOMEO AND JULIET. instead of real people who enact the timeless feud, gnomes prepare the war -- in the garden!

when humans are away, garden gnomes are brought to life and they have grown to create love which humans do. here, two gnomes from rival families, Montague and Capulet share love which their families do not approve.

featuring the voices of two-time Academy Award®-winner Michael Caine (“Cars 2,” “Inception”) as Juliet’s father Lord Redbrick, Jason Statham (“Transporter” series) as Gnomeo’s nemesis Tybalt, Maggie Smith (“Harry Potter” movies) as Lady Bluebury, Patrick Stewart (“Star Trek”) as Bill Shakespeare, Ashley Jensen (“How to Train Your Dragon”) as Juliet’s friend and confidante Nanette, Stephen Merchant (TV’s “The Office”) as Juliet’s expected suitor Paris, Matt Lucas (“Alice in Wonderland”) as Gnomeo’s best mate Benny, and Jim Cummings (“Winnie the Pooh,” “Shrek”) as the plastic pink flamingo Featherstone.

Julie Walters (“Harry Potter” movies) and Richard Wilson (TV’s “Merlin”) give voice to the human feuding neighbors, Miss Montague and Mr. Capulet; Ozzy Osbourne portrays Tybalt’s sidekick, Fawn; Dolly Parton plays the country gnome Dolly who starts the mower race; and Hulk Hogan lends his voice to the unapologetic beast of a lawn mower, the Terrafirminator.

here's the official trailer:

opening soon across the Philippines in Digital 3D and regular format, “Gnomeo & Juliet” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

choose the best sunglasses

I am not a fan for fashion but I am not a total fashion disaster. Instead I go for the benefits when I buy stuff even on the web. When summer is fast approaching, I have a list of what things to bring and one of it is a pair of sunglasses.

There's a lot of killer sunglasses in the market but what do we really have to buy? As I've said that we should be more of the quality and functionality rather than indulging on luxury and expensive stuff. When I saw Shopwiki that talks about buying sunglasses, I read through all the points that should be considered in getting one.

Before I was just rushing and trying on cheap sunglasses but I never knew of the complications that would take effect. Thanks to Shopwiki, I should be more careful in buying stuff for my own.

WIFI sharing with PLDT MyDSL

Internet connections at home has been tough through the wired era. As a mobile internet user, I find it hard sometimes to search for Wi-Fi enabled places to connect to the internet. I am using broadband connection at home with a stick and sometimes signal is very poor. So I have to go out and look for an internet shop to be able to connect to the internet. And that's for just a limited time and cost.

But now, we can have access through any site using PLDT MyDSL's new MODEM and WIFI in one. Everyone in the family can enjoy the internet using wireless connections and with a good reputation of PLDT MyDSL, you can maximize your internet usage anywhere inside your home.

The PLDT MyDSL Wi-Fi modem is available in plans 990 and 1299. And you can install it easily because of its portability and sleekness. You cannot be tied up in any cable.

And random things happen and we might want to share it in an instant. Like me, I always want to keep on track with my emails, statuses and news. I also read stuff using my mobile phone.

PLDT myDSL is the new convenient way on keeping on track. Availing plans like 999, 1995, and 3000, you and your family can surf unlimited internet. And one modem can accommodate multiple connections. So getting a PLDT myDSL wi-fi modem is a good investment.

I AM NUMBER FOUR movie review

I AM NUMBER FOUR is sci-fi action suited for teens who like Heroes. also very much like Superman where a boy is raised in an alien atmosphere by his mentor (Timothy Oliphant) and tries to cope up living in our environment. then a pile of another aliens are set to kill him and sooner destroy our planet. of course, any teen movie is not complete with a bit of romance (Dianna Agron) and a kick-ass babe (Teresa Palmer as Number 6). to add to the very cartoon-ey casting is a geeky boy (Callan McAuliffe).

like Heroes, Number 4 learns his powers under hard circumstances and sometimes like Superman, torn between saving the planet or his loved one. he appeared very weak and vulnerable. i even admired Number 6's character than him even though she appeared towards the end.

this movie had a lot of cute elements, not really necessary to the point of the film. actually, it was a weave of different movies and miniseries, Heroes, Superman, even Cloverfield. watch it and spot each scene.

but if you want to check it out, it will hit theaters this February 23 20111.
