OROSMAN AT ZAFIRA REVIEW

Francisco Balagtas is reborn in Dulaang UP's adaptation of Orosman at Zafira which starts today, February 4 to 26, 2011 at the SM Mall of Asia Centerstage Theater. on its 3rd run from the Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater, Bit by Bit Productions sought to bring it to a greater stage for more public to see! and with a baby producer like Bit by Bit, this show is a must-see!

it opens with Zelima played by Tao Aves, introducing the story and the three kingdoms, Marruecos of the north, Tedenst of the south and Duquela which is between them. a festive dance of the three kingdoms enlighten the stage but the greed of the Tedenst Sultan will end it all. adding to it is the attraction of Aldervesin (Red Concepcion) and Gulnara (Jean Judith Javier) which enraged Marruecos king, Mahamud.

a war ignited between Tedenst and Marruecos almost didn't stop the love that is kindled in the hearts of Orosman at Zafira. with love that is in their hearts, no war comes between them.

finally, a play that can make it to the list of great musical as in Broadway. we can all be proud of Dulaang UP's Orosman at Zafira with the highly-commendable production and musicality. truly, Filipinos are very talented with the variety of dance and music integrated in a lovely comedia by Balagtas. Carol Bello (musical director) developed and seamed modern sounds into Filipino ethnicity that the modern Filipino youth can easily relate to.

i also loved the stunts and dances as if they are flying in the air. you can feel the rage and anger in the dance sequences.

there are more improvements in the show. as the actors portray the different kingdoms, their costumes look that they are in royalty. they are now glittering in jewels and they deliver the character very well. although it omits few elements like the character of death and other

congratulations to Bit by Bit Productions. you have made justice in this play and will definitely recommend this to all who want to watch it.

watch Orosman at Zafira happening now in SM Mall of Asia in all weekends of February. ticket prices range from Php 400, Php 800 and Php 1,000 and you are guaranteed a good show.

127 HOURS movie review

James Franco stars as the Aron Ralston in the reality 127 Hours. the brave traveler who spent his life and fought for survival after being stuck under a rock in a deserted place.

he had almost nothing to consume except for a bottle of water. maybe the hardest movie for James Franco to make but you will be impacted greatly. and with that little resources, you'll understand why he thought of a lot of things to escape his condition even for just small moments like documenting himself and day dreaming.

i was grossed out by this movie and at the same time i felt pity for Aron Ralston. no one was there to rescue him and i was thinking, did anybody look for him? where were the two ladies after he left them? he tried to figure out all the possibilities that he might do in order to survive. and as your body begins to dry out, you can't think well.

but i am really amazed of this movie. it shows us that convenience also comes with sacrifice. Aron Ralston serves a great inspiration. also like a very "saintly" deed of letting go of what burdens you and continuing to move on.

127 Hours is a film by Fox Searchlight opening on February 9.

watch TANGLED previews on January 24 and 25!

Walt Disney Pictures' “Tangled,” one of the most hilarious, hair-raising tales ever told, will have whole-day sneak previews on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 24 & 25, at regular admission prices, in selected theaters everywhere.

In the film, when the kingdom’s most wanted—and most charming—bandit, Flynn Rider (voice of Zachary Levi), hides out in a mysterious tower, he’s taken hostage by Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore), a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair. Flynn’s curious captor, who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief, and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse (named Maximus), an over-protective chameleon (named Pascal), and a gruff gang of pub thugs.

Says producer Roy Conli, “`Tangled' is a wonderful story of two people who don’t really know who they are yet, and in the course of the film, they both discover their destiny. We wanted to break some of the stereotypes that had been done before. Flynn is a guy who’s been there, done that, and seen it all. Rapunzel is a sheltered, naïve-but-smart girl who hasn’t been there, hasn’t done that, and hasn’t seen anything! He helps bring her to a place where she can see herself more clearly, and she helps bring him to a place where he can change some of the mistakes he’s made in life. Together, they fill in what’s missing in each other.”

“It looks like a classic Disney animated film, but it’s also in 3D CG animation,” adds John Lasseter, chief creative officer for Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, “so it’s really unlike anything we’ve ever done before.”

Opening across the Philippines on Feb. 2 in Digital 3D and regular format, “Tangled” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.
