now, Valentines Day has gotten more commercialized. with a lot of services around, you can't find everything in just one place. it takes time and energy rushing to different stores and looking for the best gift to give your love one in this special occasion. and sometimes, what you wish for isn't that affordable and sometimes not available to the best gift shop you know. thanks to the power of the internet, we can look at one site with all great products perfect for Valentines Day.

Island Rose is one site i found that probably has most gift suggestions perfect for Valentines Day. and now they are offering a 10% discount using this coupon: VDAY022010. i suggest that you better start browsing www.islandrose.net to avail the discount for it only lasts until February 20 of this year! you can send flowers to the Philippines using a lot of variety of bouquet style and a big array of flower choice to give the lady you adore. and if you want your flowers to bloom for a longer period, they also have links on how to take care of the bouquet for a lasting quality. and because they are tied up with LBC, you are assured that flower delivery to the Philippines is fast and on-time when you wish your flowers to be delivered on Valentines Day. that's great value for the money!

aside from flowers, you can also send gifts to the Philippines such as stuffed toys, chocolates, fruits, and vanity products lined up to the shelves of Island Rose.

Welcome to BusinessWorld, Pres. Gloria Arroyo

yesterday, i have been hearing hearsays that the president of the Philippines is coming to our office here in BusinessWorld. and so this day confirms her arrival.

i don't know her agenda roaming around the different media publications here in the Philippines. maybe this is because it is the last of her term as president of the Philippines. lucky that i had the chance to meet her and even shake hands with her, i also had a lot of questions related to the controversies she had during her term.

a lot of people may not like her but i am proud to admit that i voted for her during the 2004 elections. and her will to how she stayed in power for serving the country for 9 years. of course media had it on record but i want to know it first hand coming from the president herself. i wish i could do that.

if you had the chance to ask things to her, what is it? maybe if i get the chance, i could ask her things that you said. hehe

RENT: THE MUSICAL Manila review

Roger, Mimi, Mark, Maureen, Joanne, Angel, Tom and Benny refreshes our senses with the Manila run of RENT: The Musical, music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson. i have discussed this on my other blog entries so now i have to tell you what i think about the show.

i have seen the play and the movie before but this interpretation made me understand it more. maybe because i listened more on the lyrics now and at the same time the rock music that composed the story. they did changes from the original RENT but it didn't damage the whole concept of the story. i loved how they arranged it.

the set was though simple but used very effectively.

actors: Gian Magdangal did his best playing Roger. one thing funny though is that Mimi, played by Nicole Asensio, looked like Sheree, Gian's partner. and by the way, Nicole's got that sexy voice -- really appropriate for Mimi role. Mark Cohen, Maureen and Joanne added more life to the musical especially Maureen! Carla Guevara-Laforteza playing Maureen justifies why two people ran after her. i mean, to have a talent like Carla, you can't miss a thing. how about the couple, Tom and Angel? they did great! now you have to see OJ Mariano can actually jerk a tear for his character. he displayed great emotions to the role of having a relationship with Angel played by Job Bautista. he also had a great time on stage.

in summary, the whole show is really great. no dull moments from beginning to the end. and if you had your RENT OSTs, get them in your head so you can sing with the cast especially Seasons of Love.

catch RENT: The Musical in Manila on the following dates:
February 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28.

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG movie review

Walt Disney is back to drawn animation. The Princess and the Frog is a twisted tale loosely based on E.D. Baker's famous fairy tale, The Frog Princess and the Grimm Brother's The Frog Prince. this is set in the Jazz Era of New Orleans where music and dance fills the surroundings of people with great dreams. adding to the Princess Collection of Cinderella, Snow White, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and Anastacia, is a humble Tiana working as a waitress until see crossed path with an unlikely new friend, Prince Naveen who was cursed by a voodoo practice. Prince Naveen was supposed to be married to Tiana's friend who was the daughter of the richest man in New Orleans.

assuming that they knew how to break the spell, Tiana, who wore a princess costume, kissed Naveen and unexpectedly she became a frog too. now their adventure started until they fell inlove and then eventually broke the spell. *no spoilers there. tee-hee*

Walt Disney never fails to give us heart-warming animations like The Princess and the Frog. and this one gives a broader view of society and dreaming and wishing. you'll love the music and powerful lines from the characters that you'll believe in fairy tales again. it also displays strong friendship and sacrifice. but in spite of great despair, it teaches you how to dream and that you'll get it big.

The Princess and the Frog will leap on Philippine Cinemas on February 3, 2010.
