movies to expect in 2010

movie goers will be overwhelmed and excited for this year. though a lot of remakes and sequels will be in store for us, there are also new ones that are definitely eye-candies.

January opens with great movies for the whole family. Zombieland, not very much in time for the season but it was a sure-fun movie to enjoy. you'll have reasons to watch it aside from the gore content of munching zombies transforming everyone to corpses or body parts. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel - yes, a sequel but they prefer it to call it that way making the trend from 2008's cute movie. now they now have career rivals that will eventually be their love interests, the Chipettes. Sherlock Holmes - Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law stars in this adaptation of the famous detective. an action-packed and amazing stint of Sherlock Holmes will make you analyze and even solve cases during the movie. it will enhance your meticulous thinking skills. all three movies will be shown here in the Philippines on January 8 (Friday).

couples and romantic enthusiasts will enjoy good movies this year initially with Valentine's Day -- a movie with lots of money! an all star cast including Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift, Patrick Dempsey among others. you better make that date! the 2nd installment of Sex and the City will Carrie you on around the world. the girls are back with their fabulosity and girly antics when it comes to relationships.

book adaptations also get going this year. with the first installment of Harry Potter's last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will bring again wizards into theaters this November. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief also washes book aficionados into theaters the Greek Mythology. Alice in Wonderland, Louis Carroll's book will also be in theaters featuring Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway from the direction of Tim Burton. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, a yummy and food-filled movie will leave audiences looking up in the sky after watching it also opens this 2010. Clash of the Titans will also give you a glimpse of Greek mythology. a remake though but enhanced featuring Liam Neeson as Zeus and Hades and Sam Worthington. that's a lot for the kids. :)

that's my first installment of the movies to watch out for this 2010.

Tanging Yaman features premiere ABS-CBN teen actors

with the success of teenage love affair plot of "Katorse," comes another soap opera in celebration of 60 years in Philippine history. Tanging Yaman features the three leading characters of Erich Gonzales, Ejay Falcon and Enchong Dee now joined by Melissa Ricks and Matt Evans.

despite the big career rivalries of Enchong and Ejay, Matt has no problem working with the two. in fact, he is even excited to work with them and happy to do a project with two successful actors:

“Hindi naman ako kinakabahan na makipagsabayan sa kanila, naeexcite na nga ako na makatrabaho silang tatlo. Sa tingin ko, mag-eenjoy ako working with Erich and her two leading men,” Matt shared.

Tanging Yaman is a story of success and failure. Erich plays Fina who lived a poor life and actually is the daughter of the president of the republic (Rowell Santiago). as Fina tries to get along with her biological family, she struggles to fit in with the society which Isabel (Ricks) is well-versed of. Isabel will try to pull her down but Fina will find something good in enduring all of it. part of it will be her love life.

ZOMBIELAND movie review

when the movie's got rules, i got reasons why you should watch Zombieland. i thought that it was just another zombie-killing movie but it actually taught you how to survive them. you can feel just the excitement of how the characters survived them like it was just a very ordinary thing to live with. you can visualize how gruesome the zombies ate corpses and body parts and how inhumane survivors kill them. even though it was like any other zombie-escaping movie, you would really enjoy this movie.

so here are my reasons - warning on spoilers:
  1. it will take you to nostalgia with Bill Murray as himself carrying Ghostbusters in hand.
  2. watch out how they diss Miley Cyrus.
  3. do you need fitness workouts? try Rule#1: CARDIO
  4. chicks dig guns
  5. it will teach you how to observe traffic rules
  6. know how to kick dumbass zombies while enjoying in the park
  7. Twinkies is essential for survival especially with #3.
  8. hot chicks may dig dorks
  9. there are always nice toys for the big boys

AVATAR movie review

from Titanic director, James Cameron, comes another titanic movie that not only provides great CGI effects but also great story that is very timely to the global issues we're experiencing today.

AVATAR is a story of ex-marine Jake Sully who has been assigned to do a diplomatic agreement to another world in a form of an avatar, a genetic combination of human and Na'vi genes controlled by human will. the Na'vis are residents of a distant planet, Pandora, which humans are trying to adapt into and get a special mineral for the sustenance of the race. despite the tranquil life of the Na'vis, the humans take over what they want by violent actions and thus the destruction of the Na'vis' home and race.

Jake Sully as an avatar has learned to adapt to the customs and living of the other Na'vis and also had a heart to them. realizing the destruction of the humans to Pandora, he also has learned to defend the peacefulness of the Na'vis.

AVATAR subliminally tackles the issues of racism and global warming. racism in a sense that we should be respectful of the customs and traditions of any group whether we consider ourselves more learned. global warming has also been addressed as whether why humans are trying to find another home invading another planet. the thought that if we should have done our job to protect our planet, we might have not been tearing others apart just for our own consumption.

this is a great movie and better seen on 3D. opens December 17 in the Philippines.
