Fish & Bloggers World Tour

NO MEAT should be served on the table during the Lenten Season. it only applies for us Catholics. and fish is a good meat substitute. the Philippines already has more than 101 ways of cooking fish due to it's archipelago structure. but how would you like to taste a new type of serving of a common recipe? try something from overseas, let's say. a simple fish-fillet dish from Malaysia, India, Philadelphia, and Japan. a simple dish is different from other countries. and Fish & Co with Yehey had let us to deliver their Fish and Chips in a variety from the four countries i've mentioned

Fish & Co. is the home of the world-famous Fish and Chips. and as global as the brand name is, their Fish and Chips menu also went around the world! you can differentiate the average Fish and Chips from the Fish and Chips Around the World Platter because it contains the taste that will take the four countries to your mouth.

and as to give that experience, bloggers have been invited to "Prep Up" the platter according to the countries they have been assigned to. and as Yehey have been fond of challenges, once again, a race challenge to shop, chop and decorate the platter of
their assigned country. from the start, bloggers wore sash representing the country they belong and running towards the grocery like pageant contestants in a challenge.

for India, the inspiration came from the Hindu god, Vishnu, which is the god of sustenance, life existence and balance. a yellow flower made from lemon rind is placed on top of the fish fillets as an offering to Vishnu and to maintain balance for everything. Indian dishes are known for having a lot of dips and sidings.

when the contest is over, great presentations are made by bloggers and Philadelphia team won. the plating is filled with cheese and as mouth-watering as it looks.

Malaysian and Japanese Fish and Chips

afterwards, a feast of Fish & Co. dishes filled blogger stomachs again with a variety from course meal to desserts.

if you want to try out Fish & Co. dishes, you can visit them at Trinoma, SM Mall of Asia, Shangri-La Mall and Greenbelt 3.

it's been one week

lucky are we who are born in your generation,
lucky are we who enjoyed your presence.
lucky are they who had a father like you,
lucky is she to have you as her spouse.
you are a treasure, a talent, a piece of gold,
but your glitter shines endless like a diamond.
we mourn for your loss, and more hope has just began.
after the darkness, morning comes brightly like three stars and a sun.

-isang pinilit na poetry. FM (1964-2009), we'll miss you. your legacy lives on.

Manila is all in one book

the city of Manila itself is a very huge piece of land. even i still haven't got around to the busiest streets of it without asking for directions or following road signs. but Periplus Publishing and Fully Booked brought us the new Manila Street Atlas where all, i mean "all" roads you can tell is listed and drawn into detail. now getting lost is not an excuse for anyone who are able to purchase one.

the Manila Street Atlas of course features maps and directions. it includes a Street Index where if you're only familiar of a given street, let's say, JP Rizal; there's a lot of JP Rizal on the metro but getting it more particular to the Makati, JP Rizal street, the Street Index entry will take you to the map page where it can easily be found.

there's also a Building Index listing all building names and skyscrapers around the region. it's so updated that even buildings, roads and other establishments and structures that are on development, they are already entered in the Manila Street Atlas.

leirs, sire and me (official photog namin si aeirin e)

last Tuesday, i have been invited as part of the Fully Booked Bloggers Club to take a first look on the Manila Street Atlas. hosted by Gelli of RX 93.1, we have been introduced to the Manila Street Atlas and mentioning all benefits i said above. there are 2 contests held on the event and bloggers take the prizes! first, we are to find 5 GET LOST tickets with Fully Booked stickers on them to win Moleskine notebooks. thank God, Sire, Aeirin and Leira also came to the event. Aeirin and Leira also got same tickets but due thanks to Leira for finding one for each of us.

next is using the Manila Street Atlas and locating bars and establishments that sell SMB products to the specific map location. fortunately, i was already looking at the Indexes and put my finger on the map with the same entry. am i lucky or what? for that, i won my new favorite green jacket from San Miguel. that Manila Street Atlas has been very useful to me!

speaking of San Miguel, a tasting of 4 ice-cold SMB products was conducted by their SMB girls. thanks SMB!

another freebie is a pink bag from Tuttle with Periplus Publishing Catalog and info about the new Manila Street Atlas. DOWNLOADABLE CATALOG here.

Fun in my vocabulary

well, that's what i believed before this:

Yehey has done it again. now it's a team-up with Island Cove Resort and Leisure Park in Cavite for it's first DETOUR: The Bloggers Island Cove Adventure last March 5. 30 bloggers are assembled to outwit, outplay and outlast other teams with challenges lined up within the 12-hectare facility of Island Cove. Blogventurer profiles are seen at the microsite and their winning factors.

meet the blogventurers

before any fun started, the bloggers were seen lurking very early in the morning at Gonuts Donuts, The Fort Global City having Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee. a little chitchat ignoring which ones to beat at the games. Island Cove is just a 30-minute ride from Makati so as you pass by the toll gate and driving from SM Bacoor to Kawit, the resort is easy locate.

upon arrival at the game arena, a little breakfast was served to liven up sleeping nerves and prepare the participants for the tour of the whole facility. Island Cove management gave their welcoming remarks and the bloggers were divided to 6 teams with their assigned team leaders.

White Team led by Marcelle Fabie

a tour around Island Cove was accompanied by Ms. Weng. first, we went to the Sangley Point with 3 function rooms Aguinaldo, Magdiwang and Magdalo. then to the floating pavilions of Kawit, Alapan and Binakayan with is air-conditioned; a big gymnasium of Cavite, where nearby you can see a giant chess board not so much like what you saw from Harry Potter but the same way it can challenge your mind. behind the Cavite Hall is the Oceania Water Park with a big pool upto 6-feet deep with 4 slides dropping you to 4 different points of the pool.

night life is no question at Island Cove because you can take a night party at Fisherman's Deck while enjoying the view of the Manila skyline. if you got hungry and you want fish for a meal, just floating beside the Fisherman's Deck is the Fishing Village where you can lure your own fish for food. there are 10 species of fish propagated at Island Cove that you can enjoy fresh and hot on the plate.

if you enjoy the wild and extremes an eco-friendly, electricity-powered tram will take you to the other island of Island Cove which displays wild life such as crocodiles, monkeys and different kinds of birds. an adventure zone where you can play paint ball is also a good option for extreme gamers.

another ride at the tram and you can be dropped at the Island Songs KTV for videoke peeps. and nearby are the hotels and cottages for overnighters and those who want to sleep soundly. the Island Cove is graded AAA similar to that 5-star rating so luxury with comfort is really taken seriously here.

The Games
games started at 1PM after the big lunch. everyone is adrenalin-charged as laszlo gave the go signal and the clue cards. the search operation happened at the hotel and i was so lucky to find our adventure kit to claim our next card for the next task. the next clue took us to the Kawit Hall for a sack race, a little violation was made for we had put the flag first before doing the task which is a no-no. then az played the giant chess. we headed to the floating pavilions to search for the other half of the mask they gave us. after i found the mask just lying on the floor, we went to Sangley Point to test our Survivor instincts. i ate frog legs and drank ampalaya juice. here's the video:

My Survivor Edge

i will update this later. this is like the Amazing Race/Survivor, you always expect one team to win. we finished 5th but we all had fun. Mr. Gilbert Remulla, owner of the facility had a talk before closing the event.
