MANILA, Philippines - Beauty queen Janina San Miguel has resigned as the country’s official representative to the 2008 Miss World beauty pageant.

A statement from the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) said San Miguel cited as reason for her decision the recent death of his grandfather.

“The untimely demise of her grandfather, among other personal reasons, has caused her undue stress, thus hindering her from fulfilling her duties for the said title," the BPCI statement read.

“BPCI wishes to express its gratitude to Ms. San Miguel for this act of graciousness and concern for the country. They also wish her well in her future endeavors," it added.

In accordance with BCPI’s rules and regulations, 1st Runner-Up Danielle Castaño will replace San Miguel as the official Philippine representative who will vie for the Ms. World 2008 plum in Johannesburg. - GMANews.TV

Photoshop Tutorial: Grungy Beer

another Photoshopping technique i've just learned. i used this technique to create a background for my Blogspot header.

1. create a new file. i am using a flat black background with a 600 x 600 px resolution for the image. and i'm using a cropped image from my Oktoberfest pics.
   
   
2. load your grunge brushes. if you only have the default brushes on your Photoshop, there's a lot of vector brushes found at deviantart.com. keyword is Grunge. in a new layer, play with the different brushes with black or white overlapping each print from the brushes.
   
   
3. place your image on a new layer.
   
   
   
4. with your image, now in place, duplicate it as many as you can and flatten them out. be sure to hide your original image after duplicating it.
   
   
   
5. filter that layer using Filter >> Motion Blur >> (any setting). repeat the filter if you like.
   
   
   
6. change the layer setting of the filtered layer from Normal to Overlay to blend it with the grunge background. unhide your image.

Ohmski's Blogline: Oktoberfest '08 at TasteAsia MOA

another happy night for me, lex, adie and a set of new friends at the Oktoberfest for Bloggers at TasteAsia at SM Mall of Asia last Sept 26, 2008. i was a bit late kasi nag-enroll pa ako sa Fitness First which costed me another fortune. i have my goals, wag na makialam. lol

by the way, mang-i-inggit muna ako ha. i've been attending to these kind of events kasi, first of all, LIBRE FOOD. thanks to TasteAsia for that wonderful treat always. lagi na lang kayo may plugging after every eveny. but everytime i go to TasteAsia, i really enjoy every experience. i think it's always a different set of buffet. nahihiya lang ako bumalik.

next, ANOTHER EB ito with other bloggers. first time to meet gneth from multiply and she had with her, jhuly. we had a bunch of topics to talk about and that includes other multiply users. malamang, dun kame nagkakila-kilala e. we even dreamt of holding an event for us multiply users pero cguro dpa masyadong bigtime. maybe an invitation to users within the MegaManila area muna. kung may sasama, go lang ha. wanna help with organizing? even saw my sisters officemates at the event. nice meeting you guys. i have also met, vera (aka trinalabandera and halavera) with a couple of Greenpinoy'ers. ang saya nilang tignan.

third, MAY FREEBIES PA! mantakin mo, nagpa-register ka lang, pumunta ka sa MOA on a typical gimik-night, free concert with Moonstar 88, libre kain at nag-uwi pa kame ng gift pack from SMB! aba magkano kaya ang ginastos ng SanMig at TasteAsia para malibre kame lahat? even lex won stuff from the raffle. nakakainis lang nung sunud-sunod na number e number ko ang nasa gitna. ako lang ata hindi natawag. grrr...

sayang sa mga hindi naka-attend. we hope that there's a halloween party. i wanna see guys again IN COSTUME! hahaha.. basta ako prepared na, just waiting for the announcement kung meron mang halloween party.

as always, you see photobloggers lurking in these kind of events showing off their DSLRs to others. (lol joke lang. e camera phone lang kasi meron kame nun kaya low-quality ang mga photos namin.) and then there's this Chinese blogger na biglang lumapit sakin, "Pwede magpa-picture?" i thought na magpapapicture sya kasama ng friends nya at ako ang hahawak ng camera. yun pala ako ang gusto nya kasama sa picture! wahahaha.. blog celebrity? ako? no way! alam kong sumikat at blockbuster ang blog ko minsan pero i never imagined na may magpapapicture kasama ako. hahaha... si Tanggera yun. nice meeting you. kasi ako daw yung nanalo sa Trinoma Blogger Food Tour photo contest. e gusto nya i-document na i was there also. so aminin ko na, na-flatter ako sa ganung approach sakin. next time nga makagawa na ng scandal. hahaha.. (not to mention my jaywalking incident.)

Survivor Philippines: Emerson heads home and Patani's moment

ngayon lang ulit ako nakapag-post for Survivor kasi hindi ko rin naman napanood nung Friday dahil sa isang event. if you want to read the whole of the story, go to the Survivor Philippines blogs.

so si Emerson of Naak pala ang natanggal sa 2nd Tribal Council after losing the most fierce immunity challenge yet on Survivor. nagka-wrestlingan, nagka-utakan and at some point, some bonds are shattered and emotions started to burst out when JC got disappointed at the established friendship between him and John.

immunity challenge yun, kailangan ng bawat isa sa inyo kaya sa susunod, galingan nyo pa, Naak.

at the Jarakay tribe, Patani, the Visayan yaya, is the star. she repeats her Starstruck speal and held some programs for everyone's delight.

i would like to share one her moments at the Jarakay tribe, quotable quotes ito:

Survivor Philippines: Naak starts fire

Naak finally started a fire, credit goes to Mama Zita. the others are so excited to taste warm food and then appreciated the blessings they have in contrast of what they taste on the urban life. they had these cooked weeds, something like the alugbati and some rice. they came satisfied.

meanwhile, Jarakay guys are teaming up against the ladies and Jace comes up to Vern on who to take out first on the Tribal Council once they lose the next immunity challenge. hmmm... intentionally losing an immunity challenge just to take one out? they were wishing to take out Niña after confronting with Jace and John on a very shallow argument.

tonight's challenge is to wrestle each castaway out of the borders. tambling at sikohan na'to!
