M. Night Shyamalan's OLD

Are we all excited to go back to the beach after locking in our homes for more than a year because of the pandemic? But what if the beach brings more danger than staying indoors? M. Night Shyamalan's imagination again came to play in his latest thriller, OLD, which will be playing in theaters soon.

This new movie is about a family who unwittingly goes to a mysterious secret beach that causes them to age rapidly. When we all are looking for the fountain of youth, you definitely won't want to go there.

In the trailer, we could already see what are the scary things that may happen if you visit this beach. It was very unfortunate to what happened to this family. Watch the clip below.

OLD opens in theaters July 23, starring Gael Garcia Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Aaron Pierre, Thomasin McKenzie, Rufus Sewell, Embeth Davidtz, Abbey Lee, Eliza Scanlen, Ken Leung, Alex Wolff and more. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan and based on the graphic novel Sandcastle written by Pierre-Oscar Levy and Frederick Peters.

MOVIE REVIEW - Cruella

Fashion, depression, competition and revenge are very distinguished in the 101 Dalmatians rip off movie Cruella, starring Emma StoneEmma Thompson, Mark Strong and more.

Cruella's backstory begins in her childhood and established why she became brilliant, bad and a little bit mad. An orphaned girl who started a dream finds herself living it and then becoming her idol's worst enemy and competition. Avant-garde designs are a feast to the eyes, the soundtrack that transports you to the 70s and unexpected twists that makes it more interesting every time. The necessary elements in self-branding and PR stitched into a drawing story gets you sewn into the story making it dark but fabulous.

Emma Stone as Cruella

If you've seen the original 101 Dalmatians story, Cruella pays tribute to it by providing Easter eggs that are very familiar to it. It also provides prologues on what happened in the said animation story like how she met the Darlings, her sidekicks Jasper and Horace and how she came into fascination with dogs. Note that she doesn't kill.

Overall, it is quite an enjoyable movie. Stay until the mid-credits too. Cruella is now streaming on Disney+.

Tanghalan Ateneo ends season with Shakespeare's Macbeth

On its 42nd Theater Season, Adaptation | Pagbabanyuhay: Bagong Anyo ng Buhay, Tanghalang Ateneo, the longest-running theater company of the Loyola Schools, is proud to present M.45, the forty-five minute climax of “Makbetamaximus: Theatre of Destruction”, a 30-day deconstruction of William Shakespeare’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth” as translated by National Artist Rolando S. Tinio.

M.45 boils, bubbles, & burns a bitches’ brew that pushes the boundaries of theatre both live & online. The ingredients are the “29 Days of Sodomo Robotbot” performances featuring more than 200 artists from April 12 to May 10, served with the main course, "Pakbet Da Muzikal", a new rap musical written by Layeta Bucoy, conceptualized & directed by Khavn.

M.45 opens in a post-pandemic carinderia somewhere between Mondomanila & Ilocandia, where the streets of purgatory run red with pig’s blood & chicken feet. The animal mascots that once lusted for power have now been roasted & desecrated. The fountainhead of the performance is Ferdz Pakbet who mistakes fake news for a prophecy & starts rolling heads down the chopping board while getting high on the latest pesticide. Vengeance abounds as threats of drug lords and the dead infiltrate the feast.

Pakbet becomes a headless horse running around the stage, copulating with ghosts as the DJ crashes cymbals to signal cannibal time. Castration is the suicidal wife of back-stabbing, front-stabbing, &side-stabbing. Abandon ambition. Time for graves to spit out spears. Be our VIP & fine dine with us at M.45: All You Need To Make A Play Is Macbeth & A Gun!

M.45 features a cast composed of the Tanghalang Ateneo ensemble—namely Deivid Encarcion, Jam Binay, Nicole Chua, Francesca Dela Cruz, Robert Bradly Hao, Carlos Hombrebueno, Mikaela Regis, Austin Gonzales, Coco Pineda, and Kyle Tan—and alumni, alongside guest actors Bryan Bacalso, Soc Delos Reyes, Lester Abuel, Juan Julian Barrion, Bea Racoma.
