INTERSTELLAR movie review

From acclaimed director Christopher Nolan, we are about to have an intergalactic journey to search for something that will help us survive when the world is coming to an end. The quest for survival is in the hands of a group of NASA explorers lead by Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a devout father whose dream is to have a good life for his family.
INTERSTELLAR gives us appeals of what we are to protect during our existence. For Cooper, he is torn between his ambition and saving the whole human race. It also tells us in context about preservation of anything. Sometimes we really push ourselves to go away with our loved ones for a reason. And Nolan has reminded us that how hard it is to be away, we promise ourselves that we have to go back, or at least try. Interstellar was deeply emotional. It looked like Con-Air in a few scenes in the views of StarTrek.
It is really good. Is it worthy of an award? Maybe. Though sci-fi movies take filming to another level, Christopher Nolan managed to work in a 70mm film (IMAX format). No 3D formats available but its definitely worth the watch. The feels of getting outer space and the emotions of human relationships are absolutely felt. You will have a great three hours watching this film. I cannot take a lift from my seat to see what's next from scene to scene. Images are well crafted and the script is well-written. Not to mention that you have great casts like Award-winners, Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway.
Opening tomorrow in theaters nationwide, Interstellar is distributed by Warner Bros. Philippines. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, with supporting cast, Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain and more.

Now You See Me 2 is a magic crime fiction featuring Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine, Jesse Eisenberg. IMDB did not say that Isla Fisher will be there. Coming to theaters, 2016.

Cars are not just for the road, they come from the sky.
And all I can say is #@*t when Paul Walker jumped off a falling truck to a cliff and caught by Michelle Rodriguez with a car. Breathtaking. Adding Jason Statham in the cast is also way too cool! It's like a whole new Expendables with cars. And finally, Michelle Rodriguez in glamorous look. What do you think?

Meet Baymax
Baymax, the comforting inflatable robot that turns into a superhero in Disney's Big Hero 6, is not just a cuddly big marshmallow but instead a marvelous work by Disney's animators and thinkers. The character makes everyone search for something like it and we are now blessed to have him in theaters, November 6.
Baymax, he is just about to care. A vinyl robot designed for healthcare and absolutely a breakthrough in the industry. He can detect what you're feeling, level of pain, sickness, etc. He is essentially programmed to attend to the medical needs. But when his creator Tadashi disappears, he makes a different thing for Hiro, Tadashi's brother, to have a soul and become the best friend anyone could have.
It was quite a challenge for the animators to bring in Baymax's emotions. The big bump of white and black robot is very cuddly and unimaginable that he can do what he'll do after Hiro's experiment on him to save the world. Curiosity has just been illustrated with his tilt of the head and it will be a trick when he'll blink.
Scott Adsit voicing Baymax fits the character. “The fact that the character is a robot limits how you can emote,” says producer Roy Conli. “But Scott was hilarious. He took those boundaries and was able to shape the language in a way that makes you feel Baymax’s emotion and sense of humor. Scott was able to relay just how much Baymax cares.”
“Everything Baymax says is essentially programmed because he’s a robot,” says Adsit. “But over time, as he builds a relationship with Hiro, he adapts and deep inside his inflatable self is a soul, I think. He starts out almost like a child—with a waddle and an innocent look—and grows, embodying different aspects of the relationships in our lives: he’s a son, a brother, and eventually a father. So Baymax is family.”
Opening across the Philippines on Nov. 06, “Big Hero 6” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

PETA's HARING LEAR rakes lauds from international critics
Filipino-produced play Haring Lear by PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association) garners incredible reviews from international audience during its run at the Kuandu Arts Festival held at the Taipei National University of the Arts on October 10-12. An exposition of performing arts and installations from around the world.
“Lear is a play for the ages. It is a play for a thousand years, or any greater number that you can imagine.” these are words from the artistic director of Mabou Mines, New York, Terry O’Reilly. “Theater is ephemeral but so is life and these performances become emotionally indelible; by turns terrifying and hot welded to our humanity.” He continues. He highlights the performances of Juliene Mendoza (as Kent), Myke Salomon (as Egar), and Jay Gonzaga (as Edmund), likening their portrayals to ‘a knife cutting through the thick fabric of society’.
Randy Finch, Hollywood producer and associate professor of TNUA, shares the same sentiments as O’Reilly’s saying that, “[Haring Lear] An exhilarating production. Sentiment and compromise have been scoured away in this unforgettable and deeply relevant production. As in our world, a storm rages in Haring Lear threatening all that is human and good (in favor of vanity and greed). Welcome to the blasted life to come. The characters that (momentarily) prosper are shrewd and cold-blooded, but they’re doomed too. Fearless actors and inspired design choices coalesce into a landmark production of Shakespeare’s relentless tragedy: Haring Lear resonates long after the curtain falls.”
The success of Haring Lear and other Filipino productions will definitely open doors for bigger opportunities and a colorful future for the Philippine theater industry.

6 Things you didn't know about RAK OF AEGIS

If you're a super fan like I am, there are details that really caught your attention and be ready to catch these bits during the rerun of Rak of Aegis this December 5-14 at PETA Theater Center.
- The Footwear - Since Villa Venizia supposedly gets their income in the shoe industry before the flood happened, you'll see Jewel's well-adorned designer boots. From the play to the curtain call, you'll have a fiesta of colors and style made by Maco Custodio who is a trained shoe engineer with a degree in Industrial Design from University of Sto. Tomas.
- What is Baha Jos? Remember some impromptu moments when the cast gets random people from the audience? (I wish I was one of them) A sip from the bottle of Baha Jos adds more excitement when people assumed that it came from the flood water. It is absolutely clean and even QC Mayor Herbert Bautista gets to drink from it.
- The cast is frequently seen at the lobby waiting for their cue. Take a short break in between acts and you'll see the cast roaming around. Sometimes, even Kenny grabs a bite at the food stalls.
- Musical Director and Kenny, Myke Salomon voices these lines before the play and during break time.
This is to remind you that EATING, SMOKING, and DRINKING are three RHYMING WORDS.
The musical is not a sing-along dahil baka mas alam mo pa ang lyrics kesa sa cast. Edi sana, NAG-AUDITION ka nalang.
Ang sino mang mahuhuli na lalabag ay ipupullout sa upuan at papakantahin ng HALIK o LUHA ng 3 OCTAVES HIGHER mula sa original key.
- The flood water is clean. No worries about dengue outbreak after the show because the water is treated with chlorine to avoid mosquito breeding. PETA also set up a citronella garden adding a refreshing smell and protects us audience too.
- No two shows are the same. Director Maribel Legarda gives the cast the liberty to give their own adlibs without compromising the story, to punch a funny line. This can be noticed by people who watched the show more than once.
Catch Rak of Aegis at the PETA Phinma Theater as your Christmas treat this December 5-14, 2014. For ticket reservations go to www.ticketworld.com.ph, or call TicketWorld at 891-9999. You may also contact PETA at 725-6244 or 0917-5765400 or email petatheater@gmail.com.
