I just saw the special screening of Brooklyn - featuring the Oscar nominated actress Saoirse Ronan with Emory Cohen and Domnhall Gleeson, which will be shown exclusively in Ayala Malls Cinemas starting January 27, 2016.
First impression was it's like a life of a country girl, pursuing her dreams in a busy urban jungle, finding love and returning to her hometown just to get things more complicated. At least it did not disappoint to give you a good feel and there's some girl power going on throughout it. With influences around that may support or distract her, she must do the right decision that will have give her happiness. I thought that I'm gonna cry at some point but Brooklyn gives us a play on emotions with our decisions in life.
Saoirse Ronan as Eilis
The plot is simple but it was executed brilliantly. A transport to the 1950s Ireland and United States where people don't differ with the people in the current time in dealing with mature and straightforward choices. As I've said above, it was like a story of a country girl going to places and having the time of her life and later on having things complicated.
Her love story is the classic love triangle but unlike other movies, Eilis (Ronan) confronts her own fault and at least getting back to her original decision where she captured the hearts of the audience. You'll love it, it got me hooked and would like to see some more.

Brooklyn scenery was a little bit short. You'll like the architecture, the streets, but you'd like to see some more. I hope that there could be more of the urban living where Eilis would be in awe of the whole package. The costumes and hair and make-up styles made up for the lacking elements.
Did I mention that Saoirse looks like a mix of Marian Rivera and Ara Mina? Brooklyn is distributed by 20th Century Fox Philippines. See the trailer below:
