before CCTV cameras, when crimes and accidents were very rampant, investigations take very long. and in some instances, people involved were absolved from the crimes they committed. but in today's technology, people can point out the person or groups who attack their victims from their mobile phones to CCTV cameras. and this has been a big opportunity for TV Patrol, the flagship news program of ABS-CBN, to deliver news which are caught by these cameras with their segment CCTV Patrol.
for the first time, Kabayan Noli De Castro had the chance to discuss with bloggers about CCTV Patrol. according to him, CCTV cameras were indeed a great help for the police and investigators to track out the criminals. CCTV Patrol is another BMPM (Bayan Mo, Patrol Mo) project which gives regular citizens to give substantive material to be aired on TV for a call to action among authorities.

for instance, the robbery incident in 7-eleven convenience store in Manila helped the police about the fugitives after Zyann Ambrosio's caught videos. when it was aired on TV Patrol, police received text messages from people and follow-up reports has been released.

also another CCTV footage of several men kicking and pointing a man in his own home that went viral in the internet after it was aired in TV Patrol. netizens had heavily discussed the video about authorities have done to stop the incident. after its airing and several follow-ups, the police had identified the suspects of what they call "akyat-bahay" gang.

Kabayan Noli De Castro has stressed the importance of CCTV cameras and what it can do to solve crimes. he adds, let's make use of our own gadgets, cellphones, etc to help the victims of these suspects. he himself, even without CCTV cameras at home had installed human-sensors at home which can also be monitored remotely through an iPad. this protects him from intruders, not to mention that he is a prominent individual taking high-risks.

ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs Head, Jing Reyes discussed how to people contribute to the investigation of these crimes. with a bulk number of photos and videos sent to ireport@abs-cbn.com everyday, the pool of their own researchers examine and verify these videos before it was aired on TV. they also provide the anonimity of the contibutor to protect his own rights especially with those of political figures.

INCEPTION tops Manila movie sales in just 2 weeks!

Excellent word-of-mouth and multiple viewings have driven Warner Bros.’ sci-fi thriller Inception to a remarkable P60.88-million gross nationwide after two weeks of release (July 15 to 28). This was announced today by Francis Soliven, general manager of Warner Bros. Philippines.

“Inception” posted a respectable P22-M gross in its first weekend, and in a rare development, earned bigger receipts in its second weekend with P23.32-million. Most titles strike with their biggest hauls during the first weekend, and go steadily down as the weeks pass.

“The film’s exceptional business is being powered by recommendations from those who’ve seen it and curiosity from those who haven’t,” noted Soliven. “Everyone’s talking about it, and in some cases, arguing over certain points about the story! It has clearly transcended the big screen.”

The cinemas that registered the biggest receipts are SM Mall of Asia (P4.25-M), Trinoma (P4.15-M), SM North EDSA (P3.70-M), Power Plant (P3.25-M), Greenbelt 3 (P2.90-M), Glorietta 4 (P2.76-M), SM Megamall (P2.40-M) and Gateway (P2.37-M).

Also earning huge grosses are Theatremall (P1.96-M), Alabang Town Center (P1.83-M), Shang Cineplex (P1.82-M), Robinsons Ermita (P1.68-M), SM Cebu (P1.40-M), Robinsons Galleria (P1.18-M), Festival (P1.06-M), Market! Market! (P889,788), SM San Lazaro (P883,250), SM Marikina (P825,854).

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan, “Inception” is an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams.

In the film, Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the best in the dangerous art of extraction: stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible—inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse; their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime.

Still playing across the Philippines in IMAX, Digital 2D and regular format, Inception is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

MANILA, June 21 – Families and toy lovers propelled Disney/Pixar’s TOY STORY 3 to a No. 1 opening in the Philippines -- garnering a buzz-worthy P55.9-million, four-day debut weekend gross nationwide for the June 17 to 20 period. This was announced today by Victor R. Cabrera, managing director of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Philippines which distributed the film.

Powered by overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth, TOY STORY 3 broke the national, all-time biggest Saturday and Sunday box office records for an animated feature, scoring P20.2-million on Saturday, June 19 and P22-million on Sunday, June 20. (Previous record holder was “Shrek Forever After” with P17.5M Saturday and P19M Sunday.)

Studio-wise, the film posted the highest Saturday and Sunday grosses for a Disney feature (live action or animation), overtaking last month’s “Prince of Persia’s” P17.1-million Saturday and P18.8-million Sunday milestones.

The Tom Hanks-Tim Allen-starrer also shattered Disney/Pixar’s opening weekend record in the Philippines, beating the P46-M five-day bow of 2009’s “Up” by 21 percent and in only four days.

Post-screening feedback for TOY STORY 3 has been upbeat across-the-board, with audiences responding emotionally to the film’s heart-tugging conclusion. Reviews from local critics and movie bloggers have all been raves and clearly encouraging repeat viewership.

Hauling in the biggest receipts are SM Mall of Asia (P5.12-M), SM North EDSA (P3.96-M), Trinoma (P3.67-M), Power Plant (P2.61-M), SM Megamall (P1.90-M), Greenbelt 3 (P1.86-M), Glorietta 4 (P1.80-M), Shangri-la (P1.69-M), Eastwood (P1.48-M), and Alabang Town Center (P1.26-M).

It was the second biggest opening ever for a 3D film after “Alice in Wonderland's” $116.1-million last March and the second highest for an animated film trailing “Shrek the Third's” $121.6 from 2007. Woody and Buzz also tied the $109M opening of last summer's “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” for number ten on the list of all-time biggest debuts.

Now playing across the Philippines in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular format, TOY STORY 3 is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.
