JUST MERCY movie review

I have never been so moved and interested in a court movie. This displays how social injustice has been rampant for a long time. Very relevant and a must watch.
This tackles about white supremacy in the United States and how black people fall victim to it. Based on the true story about how civil rights defense attorney Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan) struggled to bring justice for the wrongly accused members of the death row.
Even Bryan Stevenson almost wasn't able to escape the abuse of the racism that occurs during that time which has motivated him to pursue justice more and take action against the injustice. It has been tough but he knew that he cannot let his people down. A true marking of a hero for his clients and those who trust him, Bryan Stevenson was able to deliver the case of Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx), one of the most controversial death row cases in that time.

It feels bad for those who were innocent and received the electric chair punishment. Their hopes and dreams were lost. Especially for Herbert Richardson (Rob Morgan) who held on his faith until his last moments. A very nerve wracking experience to sit on his death caused by the poor justice system. It is also noted how people in authority had put many in control just to push on what is not true.

Just Mercy is now showing exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas.

CAPTAIN MARVEL movie review

I hope it's not too late to tell what I think about Captain Marvel but I think the movie deserves great lauds. Aside from thinking that Thanos will be so screwed on Avengers: Endgame, there are more awesome things why you should watch this superhero flick starring Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson.

You gotta love the soundtrack. It's so set in the 90's that you'll be pumped up with the songs from TLC and more, and the 90s references like the video shops. Even the cinematography has this texture like 90s movies. It brings back total nostalgia and you won't even notice its 2 hrs and 10mins length.

I wasn't fully aware of her character and there are big surprises and twists that you should not miss. Especially you'll love Goose, the cat which you think is harmless but has unexpected abilities.

Goose
It is so exciting how they are stitched altogether even if this is one origin movie -- Like how Nick Fury got his eye patch, connections of Captain Marvel to the Avengers and more.

Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury

Last thing, I want someone to clarify if the timeline when Goose regurgitated the Tessaract was before the first Avengers movie or after the Infinity War?

KONG: SKULL ISLAND movie review

In the name of science, an expedition was sent to an untouched island where they believed "God has stopped creation." KONG: SKULL ISLAND gives an exciting adventure starting March 9 in theaters. Best experienced on IMAX.
Tom Hiddleston leads a group of scientists, soldiers, and adventurers into a commercially unexplored island where they discover massive creatures rule the land. Including Kong, a legendary ape that they sooner learn as a protector of the island and with a kind heart to those who doesn't harm him.

Since most of the creatures are primitive and massive, I was tucking on my seat on many parts. It might do the same to you as well when you watch it on IMAX. I also twitch when they walk on swamps and makes me weak every time they do it. The terrifying moment lasted for almost 30-1 hour. Visual effects are okay and I like the tribal representation of the island's legends using stone pillars forming images.
However, I found some booboos in the movie. After they had an encounter with the "skull crawlers" in the ape graveyard, Tom Hiddleston, and Brie Larson fell hard on the ground. A situation you might not be able to stand immediately. But they were already walking fine at the transition. Also when Brie Larson got swallowed by a skull crawler from Kong's hand, she gets out unstained by any skull crawler's blood or anything. I would say that this could pass to a 3.5 stars out of five.

You have to stay until the end credits for a little Easter egg featuring another huge monster that Kong will be encountering later on.
