Faith-based film "The Forge" to screen exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas

“The Forge,” the latest inspiring drama from the Kendrick brothers, is coming to Ayala Malls Cinemas this month!

Beginning October 9, moviegoers can watch “The Forge,” a powerful spinoff to the hit “War Room,” exclusively in Ayala Malls Cinemas. Directed by Alex Kendrick and co-written by Stephen Kendrick, “The Forge” promises to touch hearts and ignite faith.

The latest offering from the Kendrick brothers – renowned creators of faith-based films such as the aforementioned No. 1 box-office hit “War Room,” “Overcomer,” “Courageous” and “Fireproof” – “The Forge” tells the story of a young man named Isaiah Wright, who has some growing up to do. A year out of high school with no plans for his future, Isaiah is challenged by his single mom and a successful businessman to start charting a better course for his life. Through the prayers of his mother and a prayer warrior named Miss Clara, as well as biblical discipleship from his new mentor, Isaiah begins to discover God’s purpose for his life is so much more than he could hope for or imagine.

Hand-in-hand

While “War Room” focused on prayer, “The Forge” focuses on discipleship. Director Alex Kendrick says these two elements of faith work hand-in-hand.

“In regard to discipleship, prayer is a huge aspect because discipleship is drawing you closer to the Lord. And of course, what is prayer? It is connecting to the Lord,” says Alex. “The women in ‘War Room’ that pray for each other and invest in the younger generation match up to the men of ‘The Forge’ praying together, keeping each other accountable, [also] investing in the younger generation. We thought, wow, this is a beautiful picture of the body of Christ because they do overlap. And so ‘War Room’ and ‘The Forge’ are in the same world and complement each other.”

Priscilla Shirer, who played Elizabeth Jordan in “War Room,” returns to the beloved world, this time as Cynthia Wright, her old character Elizabeth’s twin sister – who was referenced a few times in “War Room.”

“When the Kendrick Brothers first reached out to me and told me this idea that they were having about Cynthia and then what her connection would be to Elizabeth, my first thought was, mind blown. Where do y’all come up with this stuff?” Priscilla recalls. “But I was excited because I thought it would give the audience an opportunity to connect with the character because they remember and are endeared already to her sister Elizabeth from ‘War Room.’ So, it seemed to me like a great opportunity to draw a connection there, to draw people’s hearts into a brand new story that has connective tissue to one that they already love.”

The power of prayer

“We’re hopeful that ‘The Forge’ amplifies the need for strategic prayer, passionate prayer, devoted prayer, as well as discipleship, being devoted to Jesus Christ,” says director Alex. “Those two together are elements of the body of Christ. So, if we can embrace that, and if people embrace the film, we can’t wait to see what God does.”

Alex’s brother, producer and co-writer Stephen Kendrick adds, “This movie really is a picture of follow me as I follow Christ.”

JUST MERCY movie review

I have never been so moved and interested in a court movie. This displays how social injustice has been rampant for a long time. Very relevant and a must watch.
This tackles about white supremacy in the United States and how black people fall victim to it. Based on the true story about how civil rights defense attorney Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan) struggled to bring justice for the wrongly accused members of the death row.
Even Bryan Stevenson almost wasn't able to escape the abuse of the racism that occurs during that time which has motivated him to pursue justice more and take action against the injustice. It has been tough but he knew that he cannot let his people down. A true marking of a hero for his clients and those who trust him, Bryan Stevenson was able to deliver the case of Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx), one of the most controversial death row cases in that time.

It feels bad for those who were innocent and received the electric chair punishment. Their hopes and dreams were lost. Especially for Herbert Richardson (Rob Morgan) who held on his faith until his last moments. A very nerve wracking experience to sit on his death caused by the poor justice system. It is also noted how people in authority had put many in control just to push on what is not true.

Just Mercy is now showing exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas.

MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN movie review

Edward Norton writes, directs and acts as a lonely private detective afflicted with Tourette's Syndrome ventures to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend in 1950s New York.
At least they started with introducing the Tourette's Syndrome and you'll get used to it on the story development. There are two sides of how people treated him and luckily he had better persons around. The 2-hour movie didn't even bore us as there are very interesting developments and Lionel Essrog (Norton) would keep us awake with some funny Tourette's Syndrom attacks. Don't fight me but I really find hiccups inserts hilarious. Norton's performance is commendable.
The political climate for the movie contains community displacement for the benefits of capitalists and subliminally hits many of us who are blinded with so called "progress."

Motherless Brooklyn also features Alec Baldwin, Bruce Willis, Willem Dafoe, Bobby Cannavale, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Opens on December 11 and will be exclusively shown in Ayala Malls Cinemas.

VICTORIA & ABDUL to open in Ayala Malls Cinemas

Dame Judi Dench reprises her role as Queen Victoria and reunites with Academy Award-nominated director Stephen Frears (The Queen) in the royalty drama Victoria & Abdul which will be in Ayala Malls Cinemas starting October 4th. I am really excited about this as I've been watching royalty dramas and documentaries on Netflix like The Royals and The Crown.
This is a very interesting story about Queen Victoria and an advisor-turned-friend and also a very unlikely ally named Abdul whom the Queen finds favor as her teacher, her spiritual advisor, and her devoted friend. Victoria & Abdul humorously explores questions of race, religion, power, and the farce of Empire through the prism of a highly unusual and deeply moving friendship. Watch the magical trailer below.
The film also stars Eddie Izzard, Adeel Akhtar, Tim Pigott-Smith, Olivia Williams, Fenella Woolgar, Paul Higgins, Robin Soans, Julian Wadham, Simon Callow, and Michael Gambon.

Victoria & Abdul is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.
