THOR Ragnarok movie review

Thor Ragnarok is the best Thor movie to date as I really enjoyed it from start to finish. As it plays on Thor's relationships with different characters, less Jane Foster, the accounts on family, friendship, "coworker" and acquaintances deliver more laughs and excitement on following how Thor saves his people and legacy.
Cate Blanchett gives an amazing entrance and backstory that amazed me. Hela's moves are the best yet for a villain part and I love her flawlessness. I love that they chose Cate Blanchett in this role and she did it very, very well.
I am also very excited about Hulk/Bruce Banner as he is already able to control his actions in Thor Ragnarok. Containing the same weakness he left in Age of Ultron, you will like him like a baby and that's very funny for all of us.
Thor Ragnarok having Jeff Goldblum and the citizens in the universal dumpster is quite funny for a morbid Grandmaster and still be very chill on the way he talks and acts. Same as Korg and Surtur who appear to be easily manipulated by the others but strong and powerful.

The movie also knows how to give grand entrances.
Valkyrie played by Tessa Thompson

New Thor
For MCU followers, Thor Ragnarok gives fair story telling of the characters' pasts and how each redeem themselves in the process. I am waiting for other posts to get into the Easter eggs and I leave you an advise that you have to stay for two end credits scenes.

Thor Ragnarok opens in Philippines on October 25, distributed by Columbia Pictures International.

BLADE RUNNER 2049 movie review

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. K's discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
This year's Blade Runner film picks up smoothly from the original one but can stand on its own. The lenghty about more than 2 hours gets you at the edge of your seat in anticipation of what's gonna happen next. Be ready of the effects that may surprise or amaze you especially living as a bachelor like Agent K. His dystopic and futuristic world works wonders in terms of anything that enables their race to interact with other kinds. I like Joi's technology and the ability to be with K all the time. I also like Jared Leto's lair as if a different depiction of hell or underworld making his soldiers to rule to world.
There are still more things left hanging that will make us watch out for a Part 3. Apparently, the real villain isn't dead yet, and may be preparing for an army. How will Rick Deckhard make up with his lost child after 30 years separation and how will the world be in the future.

Blade Runner 2049 is now playing in theaters.

MOVIE REVIEW - Victoria & Abdul

When we hear a lot of good things about the Victorian era, we have been told about how great the United Kingdom under Queen Victoria's reign. The advancement of science and industries occur during that time. But until the discovery of a diary that linked Her Majesty to the controversial relationship with an Indian servant Abdul Karim, we learn that behind all the successes of the era, the persona of Queen Victoria is sad. It is even more sad that we learn about how this was erased in history to serve the successor.

Judi Dench and Al Faizal star as Victoria & Abdul, the world's most unlikely friendship between a monarch and a servant whom the Queen found favor during her reign. The imagery is clear for a humble servant to experience prejudice and discrimination by the own members of the Queen's household when he just opened up his culture to the person who rules it.

Judi Dench reprising the role of England's Queen is still as regal in her portrayal in Shakespeare in Love. Could we have proper accounts about Abdul Karim played by Ali Fazal, we could have a better or more realistic portrayal of the Munshi. He acted childish in front of the Queen that justifies breaking the royal protocols. But as we knew about the story, he brought joy back to Her Majesty's face.

We can sense that the next monarch in Victoria & Abdul lead a dark time to their empires but that is in another discussion for history. I love to follow monarch stories on Netflix and they really interest and fascinate me. Are you watching The Royals documentaries and The Crown? By the way, The Crown is releasing Season 2 on November, if I'm not mistaken.

Victoria & Abdul is now showing in Ayala Malls Cinemas, Trinoma, Glorietta 4 and Alabang Town Center.

Hearts full with Al Gatmaitan's In My Heart concert

Make time to listen to classical and modernized operatic music genre in Al Gatmaitan's In My Heart concert happening until tonight at Arts Above (Artists' Playground) in West Avenue in Quezon City. This limited concert is guaranteed a must-see.
Al Gatmaitan delivers a love story through songs which are close to his heart and sending the love to you, his audience. Arts Above has the perfect space to deliver his story. The acoustics and the intimacy of the place played a vital role in helping us feel and understand the story as we appreciate Al's great vocal talent.

Singing a variety of songs in English, Italian, Filipino and even Latino felt like Al is talking to you as close as a friend. As this concert is entitled "In My Heart", the repertoire is purely heartfelt. It started with the emotions coming from a child, as he grows up, having fun with friends, being a lover, a child, and more. Special mention to his duets with Banaue Miclat-Janssen Dulce Estranjera and Sheila Francisco. Al's operatic singing added more depth especially my favorite part, Sound of Silence, which has the best arrangement and delivery I've seen and heard so far. For that, he deserves a standing ovation. I would very much agree if he/she thinks that Al Gatmaitan may be our own Josh Groban or Luciano Pavarotti. He can sing from classical to modern songs giving it a twist of operatic arrangement. In fact, Sound of Silence is kind of rock. I look forward to the day that Al is making it big in the music scene, all of us filling arenas that cheer for him. Congratulations as well to Musical Director Jesse Lucas and Director Roeder Camanag for making this possible even at a limited time.
