Tops ArtFest 2026 brings together more than 300 Artists to build and break norms

This October, TOPS will transform into a vibrant site of artistic encounter, inquiry, and transformation as it presents Tops ArtFest 2026, a four-day celebration of contemporary art happening from October 22 to 25, 2026.

Bringing together more than 300 artists, Tops ArtFest 2026 takes on the theme “Building and Breaking Norms,” exploring how artists engage with the structures, traditions, conventions, and assumptions that shape both art and society.

The festival asks audiences to consider what we inherit, what we choose to preserve or challenge, and what becomes possible when accepted boundaries are reimagined.

At the heart of the festival is the idea that artistic practice is both an act of construction and disruption. Artists build upon histories, cultures, materials, memories, and established forms, while simultaneously questioning conventions, unsettling expectations, and creating new languages through which the world can be understood.

Celebrating Significant Voices in Philippine Contemporary Art
Serving as the festival’s main artists are Junyee and Nune Alvarado, two significant voices in Philippine contemporary art whose practices embody the tension between continuity and transformation.

Joining them are some of the rockstars of Philippine art, including Ronald Ventura, Romulo Galicano, Demi Padua, Charlie Co, Randalf Dila, Dino Gabito, and many more.

Their participation provides a central point of dialogue for a festival that brings together artists across disciplines and practices, creating a broader conversation about how art is made, experienced, interpreted, and remembered.

Over four days, TOPS will become a living cultural landscape through exhibitions, installations, talks, workshops, performances, and other artistic engagements.

The festival will offer audiences opportunities to encounter both established and emerging artistic practices while engaging with a multiplicity of perspectives and creative expressions.

“Rather than presenting art as a fixed experience, Tops ArtFest 2026 invites audiences to enter into a conversation between tradition and experimentation, the familiar and the unfamiliar, and the structures we build and the structures we choose to dismantle,” said Tops ArtFest Festival Director Lorenzo Miguel Dino.

The festival is grounded in the belief that art is not merely a reflection of the world. It is also one of the ways in which we imagine what the world could become.

Art Beyond the Gallery
With more than 300 participating artists, Tops ArtFest 2026 offers a significant platform for artistic exchange and public engagement, contributing to Cebu’s continuing development as a dynamic center for arts and culture.

“At TOPS, art will not be confined to a single gallery or a single discipline. Instead, it will inhabit spaces, landscapes, conversations, and encounters,” Dino added.

Through its unique setting and multidisciplinary programming, the festival seeks to make contemporary art more accessible, immersive, and engaging, encouraging audiences to experience art not simply as something to observe, but as something to encounter and participate in.

Tops ArtFest 2026: Building and Breaking Norms will be held from October 22 to 25, 2026, at TOPS, Cebu.

Through this gathering, Tops ArtFest continues its commitment to cultivating spaces for artistic expression, cultural dialogue, and the celebration of the diverse and evolving practices of Filipino artists.

During the opening ceremony on July 9 which commenced with a vibrant parade introducing each region of the Philippines, highlighting the unique cultures of each region and emphasizing the diverse “Galing” of Filipinos across the country, DITO also ensured a seamless live stream on social media, giving Filipinos and spectators nationwide access to high-definition streaming experience of the largest sporting event in the country.

The opening event was further amplified by a spectacular performance by rising P-pop boy group and GalingDITO ambassadors Alamat. DITO Celebrates “Galing” ng Pilipino at the Palarong Pambansa 2024

Pilipino, ipakita mo ang Galing DITO! DITO champions homegrown athletes in the biggest sports event of the year in Cebu City.

DITO Telecommunity renews its commitment to weaving stronger telecommunities and championing Filipino talents across the country as a proud co-presenter of Palarong Pambansa 2024, the largest sporting event in the country. In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the local government of Cebu City, DITO supports and celebrates the galing of young athletes as they go all out and compete in various sporting events.

The Palarong Pambansa has gathered young Filipino athletes across the Philippines since 1948. This year’s competition will involve the participation of 12,000 athletes, coaches, and officials in 22 regular sports, one demonstration sport, and four Para Games. Several “firsts” will also mark the historic event, including the addition of dance sports as a regular sport and the inaugural participation of athletes from the National Academy of Sports and the Philippine Schools Overseas. The games, slated to run from July 11 to 15, 2024, will be held in Cebu City.

A celebration of galing, determination, and diversity
The Palarong Pambansa has long been a proving ground for the skills, determination, and sportsmanship of young athletes. This year’s theme “Beyond Sports” boosts the holistic development of the athletes in sport and education, while helping strengthen the bond among athletes, their families, and peers – an endeavor that DITO fully supports.

As a co-presenter of Palarong Pambansa 2024, DITO will join DepEd, the Cebu City community and its officials, the athletes, their families, coaches, and trainers in the Opening Ceremony on July 9, 2024 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Exciting activities and exclusive freebies also await event attendees at the GalingDITO Booths. As a ramp-up to the Palarong Pambansa 2024, highly sought-after Pinoy pop boy group ALAMAT, who are GalingDITO Ambassadors, will also have a fan meet on July 7, 2024 at SM City Cebu.

'Seussical' to entertain Cebu young audiences on February 24-25

"Seussical" is a fantastical journey into the colorful universe created by the iconic Dr. Seuss, featuring beloved characters from his timeless stories including “The Cat in the Hat”, “Horton Hears a Who”, “Gertrude McFuzz”, among many others, which promises to enchanting audiences with its vibrant characters, imaginative storytelling, and unforgettable music.

Featuring the 2TinCans Theatre Company and the musical theatre students of 2TinCans Theatre Lab, this milestone production not only marks a decade of excellence in the theatre arts for 2TinCans Philippines, but also serves as a testament to their unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality productions that captivates audiences of all ages. 

“The theatre has the power to touch and transform people’s lives and in 2TinCans, we want every experience to entertain, educate, and empower,” 2TinCans founder and producing artistic director, Sarah Mae Enclona-Henderson, said. “Theatre must be accessible to young audiences, and we hope that by producing musicals like “Seussical,” we will be able to bring that theatrical experience to many Cebuano families.”

“Seussical” is directed by Henderson with dance direction by Vincent Paul Diez Gaton and Vocal direction by Apple Abarquez. 

Playing the mischievous Cat in the Hat is Dave Feril, while Fia Mikaele Cagulada and JT Ecube alternate Jojo. Horton the Elephant is alternately played by Clark Yonson and Coco Caballes, Gertrude McFuzz by Judee Kriselle Rallos and Isabel Mendero, while Shanice Kae Suarez plays the Amayzing Mayzie.
