THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA movie review

Warner Bros' The Curse of La Llorona is another horror flick to watch out this summer and it will give you chills and even be scared of brides and crying ladies in the dark.

 

Following an old Hispanic legend about a murderous mother who suffered from infidelity, the Curse of La Llorona threatens a social worker and her kids who were drawn into the supernatural realm. I was actually almost covering my eyes in the anticipation of something might happen to the children in the movie but more scared when the ghost of La Llorona appears to capture their innocent lives.

In the climax of the movie, managing a way to end the curse could be a tedious work and tried to inject a bit of humor through a former priest Rafael Olvera (Raymond Cruz) which spoils the scares. But it's more exciting when you'll find out that there's a special connection in James Wan's horror universe. Find out why when you see the movie.

Where to watch Avengers: Endgame anywhere in the country?

Following Thanos' snap wiping out half of the universe in Avengers: Infinity War, SM Cinema welcomes the conclusion of the epic battle of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Endgame in literally all 333 cinemas across the Philippines. PET SEMATARY movie review

Stephen King's animal thriller Pet Sematary brings the scare in loving a pet so much -- unless you will leave them dead for good.

I have a dog right now and I am a little bit too attached with him. Since watching Pet Sematary, I became a little bit concerned and scared on how will I take care of him. Good thing that this was only a work of fiction but the thought in my head never leaves what would happen if they came. This horror flick is very gruesome for kids, it's R16 by the way and it gives the whole chilling experience from start to finish -- I was covering my eyes for any jump scares.

On the production note, the effects, especially on the cat and prosthetics are simple yet effectively complimented the story. Like you're watching a scarier version of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" You can check the 1989 version too and tell me which is more scarier.

SHAZAM! movie review

It's like breathing fresh air from DC's dark superhero universe. Shazam! marks a wonderful and funny representation than just saving the world and busting villains with incredible superpowers that makes it stand out from the serious tones of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and others.

The 14 year old alter ego finds himself in a mystical cave where he acquired his powers to defeat the 7 deadly sins. Discovering himself into an almost-perfect superhero but with a juvenile character with the help of a foster brother unfolds the funny and crazy antics that makes it unique. Captain Sparkle-fingers truly sparks joy and will be remembered by this generation.

Zachary Levi's humor could have fit the part but I think the costume paddings would be so buff and almost unnatural. This thundering superhero flick will have audiences cracking with laughter too. You'll love his foster siblings which are soooo relatable.
