New Netflix series heads to the moon this December 24

Netflix has confirmed the December 24th release and has disclosed the teaser poster for The Silent Sea. Set in the year 2075 when depletion of natural resources has devastated Earth, this Netflix Series tells the story of an elite team sent on a special mission to an abandoned research base on the moon.

The poster for The Silent Sea, unveiled for its Christmas Eve launch to the moon, depicts Song Jian (Bae Doona), an astrobiologist who has just set foot on the moon. She is a member of an elite team sent to the moon to save Earth from ruin with its depletion of natural resources. This lone figure on the moon, still an infinitely mysterious place that remains an uncharted territory for humans, piques our curiosity in this story of exploration and prepares the ground for the question, “What happened at an abandoned Korean research base?” While looking for clues to save Earth, team members become mired in mysterious predicaments and unforeseen events that occur in outer space. Their fates hanging by a thread will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

The Silent Sea is a series based on director Choi Hang-yong’s short film by the same name, which received much acclaim at the 13th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival in 2014. Actor Jung Woo-sung was enthralled by this story that Choi has been crafting over a decade. “I loved the spectacular ideas behind the story. I wanted to be involved in creating a sci-fi series that is uniquely Korean,” Jung said. His participation in the production of the series has garnered much attention from early on. Also joining the creative process of this intriguing story of exploration is writer Park Eun-kyo, who received Best Screenplay awards at the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards for Mother and at the Blue Dragon Awards for Crush And Blush. A juggernaut cast — consisting of Bae Doona, Gong Yoo, Lee Joon and others — portrays the elite team members who risk their lives to participate in a special mission. With the synergy and the intense suspense they create, the sci-fi thriller The Silent Sea will surely become the grand finale to the year 2021 for Korean films and series.

The Silent Sea will be released worldwide on December 24th, only on Netflix.

Breaking up? Get break-up advises from Viu shows

Maritesses are so busy this week with a couple of breakups announced in social media. From online personalities Wil Dasovich and Alodia Gosiengfiao to Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendez, netizens are still raising speculations on why, how and who. 👀

While most are collecting more information (or even gossips) from the radar, we still support each other's decision and privacy in this point of their lives. How about let's recall some memorable scenes from different Kdramas that made our hearts stop and cry?

In 18 Again, we've seen that marriage does not equate to a happy ending. But sometimes two people who have a lot of love just need the space (and later communication) for their love to blossom. For Da Jung (Kim Ha Neul) and Dae Young (Yoon Sang Hyun, Lee Do Hyun), the distance was needed but they later realized that love and family are things worth sacrificing for. Rewatch it again on Viu.

Many would look at the I'm Not A Robot scene with Aji 3 as the “official” breakup, but this scene of them spontaneously meeting again made it feel final. Ji Ah (Chae Soo Bin) would not be playing Aji 3 anymore, and the only way Min Kyu (Yoo Seung Ho) was ever going to see Aji 3’s face was through this stranger. Many INAR fans still curse Tilda for this heartbreaking end to their relationship - to this day!

If you don’t remember Tilda, she was actually the nurse that betrayed the patient who had a similar
human allergy condition as Kim Min Kyu. Because of what she did, that patient was so heartbroken, he
died. Finding out about her betrayal ruined the Santa Maria team’s plans of telling Min Kyu the truth,
resulting to this angst.

“Tap tap” to something that held a heart-crushing meaning - letting go.
Though it would have been better if Kang Joo Eun was given a chance to support Kim Young Ho during his recovery process, we also respect Young Ho coach-nim’s decision to just come back when he’s back to his fighting form. Rewatch this favorite performance from Shin Min-ah and So Ji-sob in Oh My Venus.

Whether your breakup went too hard or civil, there's a Viu show that can comfort you. Right now, Now, We're Breaking Up is playing on Viu, you can now prepare for more angst. Check out the trailer below.

Now, We're Breaking Up features Song Hye-kyo and Jang Ki-yong in a story of break ups and breakdowns in the romantic world. New episodes arrive Mondays only on Viu.
