OPPA GANGNAM STYLE

YES, it's that contagious! there's something to it that made the whole world go crazy with the steps and the song of Korean Pop Star PSY. and not too far ago, OPPA GANGNAM STYLE has dominated the dance airwaves and immediately got viral in Facebook and in Youtube.
admitting that i'm not a KPop fan myself, but this video is somehow very relatable to everyone especially to Filipinos. with that feel-good and that "makapal ang mukha" character among all of us. the collision of many colors and culture was unintentionally turned into a cool music video.

OPPA GANGNAM STYLE - Psy original video

though the most of the world don't understand its lyrics, each can see how dare themselves to do their own parodies. here's the video made by Bogart the Explorer, a Filipino Youtube sensation. videos were made by even younger Youtube users.

well to Psy, congrats in this success.

ANG BAGONG HARANA romanticizes your individuality as a nation

Philippine Opera Company aims to promote rich Philippine heritage and culture in a limited performance of "Ang Bagong Harana" from September 29 - October 1, 2011 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium. A spectacular show of Philippine music offered to the youth.
The show provides color, and ignites your pride to be born Filipino. The vibrance and diversity of each region appeared in one stage as 11 voices serenade you with the best Philippine songs of all time. All of the Philippines is served at one stage. From a versatile dropped curtain, you will see different reasons why to be proud. The simple cloth transformed into a variety of sights of a Philippines and a book opened to our culture.
A tribute to the unknown songwriters from all regions, the loved Ryan Cayabyab and George Canseco among others accompanied by the dances from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Also narrating our roots, starting from the innocence of the Filipino children, the traditional song Bahay Kubo and Pen Pen de Sarapen brings back the childhood in everyone of us.

As "Harana" is a romantic gesture of courtship in the Philippines, we will also be served with native folk dances from the low lands to the top of the mountains. Adorned with wonderful costumes and accessories, the dancers exhibit the traditional ways of courtship in different regions.

And the production is quite fantastic. Allow your nationalism release from your hearts with Anak and Bayan Ko with grandiose arrangements.

And for all of us, we hope that we get the message of promoting our own heritage and culture for the upcoming generations. To promote our identity as a nation and keep it. That our nation is filled with treasures that cannot be stolen from us. The Philippine Opera Company and the rest of the industry are blessing to every Filipino individual.
Floy Quintos did a very splendid job directing this production. As we watch the production, we can't help but to sing along with the common songs that they have in the repertoire. And the fantastic costumes from the mountains to the lowlands glitter in the eyes of the audience. It really deserves a standing ovation.
