Tadeo Paras: A Filipino who dreams of making Big in Fashion Photography

25-year old Filipino Tadeo Paras shares being a cinephile since his teenage years. After finishing his baccalaureate at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, he flew to the States and pursued his master’s in business in San Diego, California where he took taking his master's and was doing part-time at a hotel.

His Fascination for Films.
His fascination for Western films began in high school. It was when he continued to watch and got curious about how they were able to create high-quality movies.

"I loved how stories are told [even] in fiction.” He said.

His passion for films even grew intense when he had the opportunity to do acting back in the country. His latest appearance was with ABS-CBN's top-rating revenge drama series--
Wildflower (2018) with Maja Salvador in the lead role and the drama series--Nang Ngumiti ang Langit (2019) with Sophia Reola as the lead star."

He lists Gordon von Steiner as one of his favorite filmmakers. Von Steiner has established himself as the most sought-after talent for top fashion brands. He has collaborated with Steven Meisel on films for Prada, Miu Miu, and Coach.

Studying filmmaking in the US?

Currently, Paras is learning more about filmmaking at Santa Monica College and looking to transfer to a more known film school in the future.

He pursues filmmaking since he wants to elevate Filipino films and the same time build a better foundation for his dream of becoming a photographer, too.

Depth and diversity are things that Tadeo wants for the Philippines. "Looking at the Western or other foreign films, they have good storytelling and diverse actors.

Since he dabbled into theater back then, he believed that the discipline he acquired in the industry would be an advantage to his film studies and photography.

"Helping them build the set even if I was an actor, knowing what the actors are feeling, being in the position they were in so I can connect with them more, it helps with my direction and resourcefulness."

Pride in his works.

Paras still has a lot of potential. All of his projects helped him in his journey to become a great artist.  His previous projects include Garth Garcia’s music video, Do You Miss Me, assisting One Down, Kumu USA, and Add Hiraya Media in their productions in Los Angeles.

He also photographed the Los Angeles Fashion Week last year, all of those and more.

As a filmmaker, he has this vision and mission to share with his fellow 'kababayans,' "I always want to include my culture in the films that I will be making.

World Vision assists more than 300K children in 2021

Christian relief, development, and advocacy agency World Vision in the Philippines recently released its Year 2021 impact report highlighting milestones of directly assisting thousands of children and reaching millions of children through its various child-focused and community-based programs and advocacies implemented in over 30 provinces across the country.

World Vision National Director Rommel V. Fuerte shared, “In seeking and bearing witness to God’s kingdom, the ministry that we have built with all of our partners directly served more than 300,000 children by end of our fiscal year 2021. This is while the five national policies on child well-being World Vision has influenced to benefit more than 32 million children in the Philippines.”

“God has been faithful to each and every one of us for enabling us to do so much, despite the limitations and challenges in year 2021,” said Eduardo C. Jimenez , last year’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees for World Vision Development Foundation, Inc. “We praise Him for giving us the opportunity to work alongside thousands of partners and volunteers across the country to make this happen.”

Jimenez added that in alignment with the Philippine Development Plan and with the gracious support of donors, World Vision’s Health and Nutrition Program helped nourish 209,182 children aged below 17 years old, while its Education Program helped over 116,926 children, aged 5 to 17 years old, improve their learning outcomes.

In 2021, World Vision also relaunched its brand new child sponsorship campaign Chosen™, which aims to empower children to decide on their own and choose their child sponsors. One of the early takers for this campaign is supportive celebrity ambassador Nikki Gil. “The fact that I got to where I am today is a series of moments of being chosen first and foremost by God,” shares Gil on her experience with Chosen initiative. “There are times in our lives where we have limited choices. For children to be given the chance to choose who will journey with them to a brighter future --- that’s such a big deal. Through Chosen™, you’re giving children the power to choose. How empowering is that!”

However rough and challenging it has been due to the pandemic two years on, thousands of children in the Visayas including Sogod, Tabogon, Compostela, Liloan, and northern Cebu received learning and activity packs which include a small radio, COVID-19 reading materials, a storybook, and a set of play cards and school supplies to complement the government’s efforts to promote education despite the massive lockdowns implemented last year.

“It is our prayer that like Jeremiah who started young as a prophet, we too continue to heed God’s calling for us to be bearers of good news and doers of good deeds in this world,” added Fuerte.

Wicked Movie comes in two parts

After the exciting announcement of the cast in November, Jon M. Chu, director of Crazy Rich Asians and In The Heights,  is proud to announce that the highly-acclaimed musical movie adaptation will be divided in to two parts, to give justice to elements that might be in danger to be omitted in the full length movie.

Here's the official statement from Jon M. Chu:

SPECIAL WICKED UPDATE / Thank you for all the support these past several months in anticipation of the WICKED movie. We have so many exciting things to share but for now I'm giving you one... or two, rather.

Here's what happened as we prepared this production over the last year, it became increasingly clear that it would be impossible to wrestle the story of WICKED into a single film without doing some real damage to it. As we tried to cut songs or trim characters, those decisions began to feel like fatal compromises to the source material that has entertained us all for so many years. So we decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one WICKED movie but TWO!!!! With more space, we can tell the story of WICKED as it was meant to be told whole bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.

Cynthia, Ariana, and I -- and all of the cast and crew -- pledge to create nothing less than an experience that honors its foundation for all the fans who've waited for this movie, and to offer a thrilling, fantastical world full of dynamic characters that invites in those who are unfamiliar.

So get ready, because WICKED is finally coming to you on successive Christmas holidays beginning December 2024. Until then, I will be keeping you up to date throughout rehearsals, the shoot, and even editing. Here. We. Go. #WickedMovies

Jon M. Chu

Wicked Movie initially cast Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba (Wicked Witch of the West) and Ariana Grande as Glinda / Galinda. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. It is based on the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, based on the characters and setting of the classic 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film The Wizard of Oz. The first movie is scheduled for release on Christmas 2024 under Universal Pictures.

Margot Robbie is Barbie!

Warner Bros. Pictures gave a teaser of the newest live adaptation of one of the world's most-loved toys, Barbie, with Margot Robbie getting the title character. The movie also gets its release date on July 21, 2023 only in theaters.

In the photo, Margot Robbie gets in her hot pink car wearing the baby blue headband and summer outfit ready to go on an adventure. I say that she is perfectly cast in this movie following her amazing stint as Harley Quinn in DC universe movies. Let's see some more as WB releases more information in the upcoming days.

Barbie is a Mattel signature brand that was loved by generations since the 1940s. It also inspired a song by Aqua in the late 90s or early 2000s and the biggest name in the doll industry. Barbie also gets her love interest Ken and now diversified into different skin colors and doll accessories and houses.

Barbie is directed by Academy Award-nominee Greta Gerwig, who co-wrote the script with her partner Noah Baumbach
