UNKNOWN movie review

you're in your business trip and you got in an accident because you unknowingly left your important documents at the airport. then all of a sudden, nobody knows you anymore and it seems that you didn't exist. worse, is someone is taking your place; -- everything. your wife, your belonging and even your memory. that's what Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) dealt being UNKNOWN. Warner Bros.' thriller action which is showing in theaters starting February 16.

at first you'll think that Martin Harris is a victim and almost like a sci-fi action that some higher government has set him up. if you remember The Truman Show where everything is planned and The Island like everyone is controlled by a huge company and like everyone is used.

unexpected twists get you bit by bit as Martin Harris remembers everything and weaves all the happenings in his life. fortunately, his wife really recognizes him but you'll wonder why she acts as if she doesn't really know Martin. the role of Liz Harris is played by January Jones.

you'll be amazed with Liam Neeson's strength. if you saw Taken his power is still the same in this movie. giving out the punches and kicks like a young actor and trying put this in order. Liam Neeson is always a kick-ass actor!

i don't want to spoil you or anything but catch UNKNOWN in cinemas starting February 16 2011; distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Disneyland Tickets Discounts found online!

I've never gone to Disneyland because I thought that it is very expensive. First, it is not in the Philippines, second, I know that I will trash a lot of money going there. But I grew up with the lovable Disney characters, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Daisy Duck and all the other characters under the Disney franchise. Not to mention the fairytale characters, Pinocchio, Peter Pan and the Disney Princesses, adding Rapunzel to the list which makes every kid and kids-at-heart childhood memorable.

Well enough for reminiscing my childhood. As much as I really wanted to go to Disneyland, I am not very motivated because of the expenses I might encounter. Good heavens that there is a reference that will guide you where to get discounted Disneyland tickets. I don't know who the author is but we should be thankful about it.

Now that I only have to worry about my flight and where to stay at the nearest Disneyland because of cheap Disneyland tickets can be found with the help of the Disneyland Secrets book. It is also a guide to find Disneyland coupons which can be used when you travel.

I would like to try these sites where I can get these discounts. If you have tried it yourself, let me know if it's okay. We're off to Disneyland!

THE 39 STEPS by Repertory Philippines this March

how would you imagine an Alfred Hitchcock film turned into a funny Broadway adaptation? it's what we call The 39 Steps which is presented by Repertory Philippines on March 4-20, 2011 at Onstage Theater.

it features Michael Williams as Richard Hannay, the hero encountering incredible adventure; Liza Infante, playing 3 roles which Richard Hannay falls in love with; and surprisingly, Rem Zamora and Juliene Mendoza who plays the most roles -- imagine switching into character to character in just 100 minutes of non-stop, funny, crime busting sequences.

"The 39 Steps is one Repertory Philippines' big offerings for 2011. it has been carefully selected by Rep's Art Council led by Baby Barredo (Artistic Director)," said Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Repertory Philippines' Associate Artistic Director.

this is also one of the first directions of Ana Abad Santos, who played the lead role in The Joy Luck Club in February. she also says that whether you're a Hitchcock fan or not, you will surely enjoy the mixture of comedy in The 39 Steps.

watch the following video for ticket information and play dates. :)

try the RED MOBILE sim

I tried to buy a Red Mobile since I learned this promo of the lowest rates of unlimited call and text for Red-to-Red subscribers. Then I inserted the sim and the Red signal is good in our area. I found out that they have good coverage wherever I go. Even where it seems like no signal at all.

I immediately texted my friends who are on Red and the conversations seemed endless. That's because of the unlimited service of calls and text which is valid for 2 days with my new Red sim. And there are 30texts more for other networks which others not offer.

When I want to forward funny jokes to friends, I simply register CTU8 or TU4 to 9949 to go unlimited. The lowest unlimited registration fees ever! Really crazy! And before I knew it, I only had Php 0.50 left in my balance and I can still call for a minute! That's very value to us who wants to text more and call more.

And loading is easy! I can find a loading station anywhere near me. With the lowest value of Php 10, I can extend my chikahan with friends for 3 days. Then I just load another Php10 for another 3days which is a good stretch of the value.

Now I'm loving my Red Mobile sim and I encourage everyone to switch to it too!

hunt NUMBER 4, hunt ALEX PETTYFER!

DreamWorks Pictures takes a big gamble on young actor Alex Pettyfer and gives him a star-making lead role in the new sci-fi action-adventure “I Am Number Four.”

Based on the best-selling book by Pittacus Lore, “I Am Number Four” revolves about an extraordinary young man, John Smith (Pettyfer), who is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events—his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny.

For the role of John Smith, aka Number Four, director D.J. Caruso (“Eagle Eye”) knew he had to find someone with a strong personality who also had a sensitive side to portray the character. “John’s extraordinary abilities make him very different from the other kids in school, which in turn makes it very hard for him to fit in,” Caruso says.

“A lot of teenagers can relate to that, particularly those who have to move to a new town at that age,” he adds. “Trying to integrate into high school is tough for anyone. There is a universal aspect to his character that the audiences can hang on to because even though he is superhuman, the emotions that he has are something that a normal teenager would be experiencing.”

Many weeks went into the selection process as the filmmakers looked for that one actor who would have the attitude and physical prowess to bring John Smith to life. When Alex Pettyfer had his first read, D.J. Caruso knew that he had someone special on his hands. “I feel that Alex has a really special gift,” Caruso says. “As interesting, attractive and dynamic as he is, he has an incredible vulnerability that really works for the character. I think it will make audiences fall in love with him.”

Producer Michael Bay (“Transformers”) says of Pettyfer: “I’ve been watching Alex for a long time. He’s got a ton of charisma and physicality. As Number Four, he brought a mix of strength and vulnerability that not a lot of young actors can pull off.”

Alex Pettyfer was delighted to land the lead role of John Smith for two reasons. The first was Pettyfer’s desire to work with D.J. Caruso. “D.J. is incredible,” he explains. “I came onto this movie because I think he’s got an amazing vision. He brings something different to the table. He brings science fiction into a world and makes it real,” says Pettyfer.

The second was the story and the role. “It’s a really cool premise,” explains Pettyfer. “John Smith is at a point in his life where he has a choice and his dilemma is that he wants to be a normal kid but he has been given this destiny of becoming a warrior. He is initially very reluctant and has a James Dean ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ outlook. He has the kind of temperament that you feel could explode at any moment.

“John is trying to find out who he is and what he wants to do with his life,” Pettyfer concludes. “A lot of kids are going to relate to what he is going through in the story—being an outsider and trying to fit in.”

Opening across the Philippines on Feb. 23, “I Am Number Four” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

RENT is issued again in February

9 Works Theatrical's rendition of RENT is back due to a popular demand. and i am so happy that they have improved it from the last two runs. not only the production has tweaked, but there are new faces to expect in the rock musical.

first is Al Gatmaitan, who is an understudy for Gian Magdangal's character, Roger. also to alternate Sheree Bautista as Mimi, is Ciara Sotto who displays her pole dancing talent on stage.

this run also features a comeback for the original RENT cast of 9 Works Theatrical. Carla Guevarra-Laforteza who plays Maureen in the first run alternates Mian Dimacali. you really have to see how talented these girls are most especially in their moment performing Over the Moon.

i love the new production styles in this year's run. the lighting has improved and there's a very magical feeling watching the show. the actors also play their parts very well this time. they have imbibed the characters and they look very relaxed portraying their part. i happen to notice myself that they are named as their characters, forgetting that they are just actors. this has been the best staging of the show. bolder and fresher that you can come back again to watch.

for the third time, i still don't have that "sawa" factor. moreover, i have understood the message that RENT and Jonathan Larson is telling us. that love is the center of all and all of us are life supports of each other.

9 Works Theatrical's RENT is staged at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, 4F RCBC Plaza, Ayala Ave. cor Gil Puyat Ave., Makati City starting February 12 - March 6 2011.

Show Schedule:
Feb 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, March 4, 5, 6.
Friday, Saturdays and Sundays at 8:00PM
Saturdays at 3:30PM
Sundays at 4:30PM

you can get your tickets at 9 Works Theatrical thru 5575860, 5867105 or 0917-5545560 or you can call TicketWorld at 891-9999.
