OSCAR 2013 nominations

the countdown on night that will tell who's the best among the rest has finally began. the Academy has officially announced the contenders for this year's Oscar Awards. well surprisingly, The Hobbit didn't get the nominations for Best Picture. it's unusual for me because The Lord of the Rings trilogy got the Best Picture and Best Direction for a Feature film with Peter Jackson.
but now, as it was lately announced, i am so happy to see many of the movies i've seen were nominated. Argo, Life of Pi, Mirror Mirror, Snow White and the Huntsman, Skyfall are the movies that i saw from the past year. and the other movies like Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook are yet to be seen. hope they can get it her in the Philippines soon so everybody can check.

here are a partial list of nominees:

Best Picture - Amour, Argo, Beasts of Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty

Best Actor in a Leading Role - Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook), Daniel Day Lewis (Lincoln), Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables), Joaquin Phoenix (The Master), Denzel Washington (Flight)

Best Actress in a Leading Role - Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook), Emmanuelle Riva (Amour), Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Naomi Watts (The Impossible)

Best Director - Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook), Benh Zeitlin (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Ang Lee (Life of Pi), Steven Spielberg (Lincoln), David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook)

i cannot bet on my choices since i haven't seen them all. but it will be great to know if the movies i've seen gets major awards. to get the full list of nominations, you can check the Academy Awards website. the awarding ceremonies will be commenced on February 26 2013.

007 JAMES BOND SKYFALL movie review

James Bond fans will never get disappointed seeing SKYFALL, the latest installment from the James Bond franchise. as Daniel Craig reprises the role, this movie takes him back to go to basics.
the story starts with a chase as Bond tries to get a drive which contains very important information on national security.
extremely difficult stunts crashing into an entire Istanbul, until they get onto a train where the manual fight is done. i was brought back to Taken 2 where i saw the roof chase. the first half of the movie shows his weaknesses. he'll get shot by another MI6 agent as directive of M (Judy Dench). of course, everything has a reason but it was not expected by the whole MI6 team.

with that escape, M's loyalty to the state would be questionable and has rose suspicions even with 007. and as 007 trusted, he has to track where this will be used and for him to save M from anything that might put her in danger.

as i've said that James Bond goes back to basics, we will not see any highly sophisticated gadgets and weapons. a sexy girl will still be available but it won't be very necessary in the story, though it was a little helpful.

007 SKYFALL which opens today is directed by Sam Mendes under Metro Goldwyn Mayer and Columbia Pictures.

007 SKYFALL

i am looking forward to his new stunts and gadgets as James Bond. wasn't a fan much of Daniel Craig as 007 but seeing it SKYFALL like most of the others in the Philippines is a sure Halloween treat.
in Skyfall, Bond's (Daniel Craig) loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

007 SKYFALL is directed by Sam Mendes under Metro Goldwyn Mayer, distributed by Columbia Pictures.
