Andrew Garfield is Jonathan Larson in Netflix's tick, tick... BOOM!

Andrew Garfield is a hopeful musician and playwright in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical "tick, tick... BOOM!" Aside from being a great wonderful adaptation relevant to our time, it is also the first directorial debut of Lin-Manuel Miranda!

Tick, tick... BOOM! follows the autobiography of Jonathan Larson,  a young theater composer who’s waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical. Days before he’s due to showcase his work in a make-or-break performance, Jon is feeling the pressure from everywhere: from his girlfriend Susan (Alexandra Shipp), who dreams of an artistic life beyond New York City; from his friend Michael (Robin de Jesús), who has moved on from his dream to a life of financial security; amidst an artistic community being ravaged by the AIDS epidemic. With the clock ticking, Jon is at a crossroads and faces the question everyone must reckon with: What are we meant to do with the time we have?”

HACKSAW RIDGE movie review

It is one of those you seem "just another war movie" but then I realize, it's not. Mel Gibson preaches on the love of God in the middle of a crisis in 2016's HACKSAW RIDGE starring Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Vince Vaughn, Hugo Weaving, Teresa Palmer and more. An incredible and heroic story of Desmond Doss, a US-Japan war veteran, coming in Philippine cinemas, February 22.
The first quarter of the movie talks about how Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield) was raised in a God-fearing family and how he acquired a moral obligation on serving his country as a medic. His love life with Dorothy Schutte (Teresa Palmer) was an adorable one. Like how we would love our grandfathers tell their story of our grandmothers. It was a good and cheesy love story and will give you giggles and feels. The rise and fall of emotions hits you in the heart.
Teresa Palmer and Andrew Garfield as Dorothy Schutte and Desmond Doss
Being in the military is no easy for anyone, much so for Doss. His skinny physique has made him a joke as a member of the battalion but it did not stop him from pursuing his willingness to serve. Imagine a soldier never handled a weapon as his moral promise but then he fulfilled his obligation to the country and above to continue living for others and himself. His striking speech before the military court is the best I've heard:
Because when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, I took it personal. Everyone I knew was on fire to join up, including me. There were two men in my hometown declared 4-F unfit, they killed themselves cause they couldn't serve. Why, I had a job in a defense plant and I could've taken a deferment, but that ain't right. It isn't right that other men should fight and die, that I would just be sitting at home safe. I need to serve. I got the energy and the passion to serve as a medic, right in the middle with the other guys. No less danger, just... while everybody else is taking life, I'm going to be saving it. With the world so set on tearing itself apart, it doesn't seem like such a bad thing to me to wanna put a little bit of it back together.
This will be Andrew Garfield's one of the most memorable roles ever. Saving 75 men from Hacksaw Ridge as Desmond Doss is very physically and emotionally challenging because we're talking about lives here. The dreadful conditions of war are two-way affecting us -- the people who fought on location and people left at their homes. It's also the things that people don't realize that's more valuable than killing. That wars don't bring any good.
* Hacksaw Ridge is nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Director (Mel Gibson), Actor (Andrew Garfield) and Film Editing.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN review

all i can say is it's totally different from Tobey Maguire's first movie. approach is even younger and it's much more closer to the comic version. in addition to that, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone's real life romantic factor makes it the best romantic superhero movie ever!

director Marc Webb has really made effort to bring back Spider-Man's glory to all his fans from the previous franchise which features Tobey Maguire. i admit that that series gets more and more disappointing. trailers really rose anticipation about the villains, but when you see the movie, it would suck.
Peter Parker's curiosity is very much expressed in this movie as he was portrayed as a nerdy student. it seems like he was very much impressed to himself and does anything he thinks he can do. and as Spider-Man is very much mutant in the previous movies, Peter Parker' webs are from a wrist band.

action moves are really fast and very clean. except for that emotional scene where Spider-Man was trying to swing from crane to crane with the help of the operators which looked kinda awkward. it makes me cringe. i think the drama is not needed there.

you will really anticipate a sequel in this one. and i wonder who will be Mary Jane since Emma Stone might be out of the picture. or will it focus on Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane's cat fight over Peter? who knows, it would be very exciting. haha
The Amazing Spider-Man now crawls in theaters by Sony Pictures.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN character posters and photos

on June 29 2012, Marvel's Spider-Man franchise will have its reboot. as everybody know, the new Spider-Man will be entitled "The Amazing Spider-Man" and will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.
this movie will tell us the story behind Peter Parker before he becomes Spider-Man. as it suggests, there is an untold story. we have been introduced with Spider-Man and Peter Parker dating Mary Jane in the last franchise but here, he will have his original girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. Gwen Stacy is his classmate and lab partner in highschool before they got the thing together.

Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy

Dr. Curt Connors is his supervillain in this film played by Rhys Ifans. like Dr. Octopus, he is once a good scientist with a cause until his technology consumed himself. in his case, the advocacy is to regenerate his amputated arm but a huge side-effect occurs afterwards thus transforming him to the reptile villain, The Lizard.

Rhys Ifans as Dr. Connors / The Lizard

as for Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield reprises the role as the nerdy highschooler. he goes back to his pains being orphaned by the death of his parents. at the event he is bit by the radioactive spider in a museum, all the action starts beginning with the discovery of his powers, saving lives and beating The Lizard. and as Andrew Garfield dates Emma Stone in real-life, the two would look cute together onscreen.

meet the new PETER PARKER

After a comprehensive worldwide casting search, Andrew Garfield has been chosen to portray Peter Parker when SPIDER-MAN swings back onto the screen in 3D on July 3, 2012. The new film will begin production in early December directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad will produce the film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios.

Today’s confirmation culminates what has been one of the most eagerly anticipated casting announcements in recent memory. Bloggers, pop culture speculators, and everyday fans have pored over and analyzed every conceivable online rumor in an attempt to discover the identity of the next actor to play Peter Parker. Garfield will immediately begin preparing for the coveted role.

The SPIDER-MAN franchise is one of the most successful in film history and the three previous motion pictures have collectively grossed more than $2.5 billion in worldwide box office.

On selecting Garfield, director Marc Webb said, “Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”

Commenting on the announcement, Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Matt Tolmach, President of Columbia Pictures said, “Spider-Man is a classic superhero -- a young man who balances his responsibility to serve humanity and crush evil with the shyness and normalcy of someone struggling to find himself. The role demands an extraordinary actor. You need someone who can magically transform himself from Peter Parker into SPIDER-MAN. An actor who will depict the vulnerability of youth and the strength and confidence of a legendary figure at the same moment. We have found that actor in Andrew Garfield. From the first time we saw him in the upcoming film The Social Network, to his glorious screen test, which floored all of us, we knew that we had found our new Peter Parker.”

Producer Avi Arad added, “I’m incredibly excited about Andrew Garfield. In the SPIDER-MAN tradition, we were looking for a smart, sensitive, and cool new Peter Parker who can inspire us and make us laugh, cry, and cheer. We believe we have found the perfect choice to take on this role and lead us into the future.”

Producer Laura Ziskin said, “We are thrilled to have Andrew Garfield for this new incarnation of SPIDER-MAN under Marc Webb’s direction. We were fortunate enough to meet with a group of fantastically talented young men. In the end, we all agreed that in addition to being an extraordinary actor, Andrew had the right mix of humor, youth, and pathos, along with an underlying sense of strength and power necessary to bring Peter Parker and SPIDER-MAN to life on screen.”

The selection of Garfield was revealed at a press event in Cancun, Mexico for international journalists attending a media tour promoting upcoming films from Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Garfield is fast becoming one of the most respected and sought-after young actors working in the industry today. In a short career, spanning only five years, he has already been directed by, and starred alongside, some of the greatest names and received a BAFTA for a role that won him international praise.

Garfield most recently worked with director David Fincher on the upcoming film The Social Network. He previously starred for Spike Jonze on his robot love story I’m Here, which premiered at Sundance this year. He plays the lead male opposite Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in Mark Romanek’s Never Let Me Go, due for release later this year.

Other notable screen credits include Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus playing opposite Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, Jude Law and the late Heath Ledger, Robert Redford’s Lions For Lambs, where he starred alongside Redford, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep; Revolution Films’ Red Riding Trilogy – 1974 directed by Julian Jarrold, where he lead a stellar cast including Rebecca Hall and David Morrissey, and his unforgettable portrayal of a young ex-con in John Crowley’s Boy A, for which he earned the best actor BAFTA in 2008.
