Woody Harrelson plays pure evil Carnage in VENOM sequel

After the epic breakup of Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), and the alien symbiote in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, part of the symbiote leaps into serial killer Cletus Kasady moments before his execution. Kasady becomes host for Carnage, an even-larger, even-deadlier, and much-more-malevolent spawn of the alien, ruthless and pure evil.

Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady

The dual role of Cletus Kasady and Carnage is played by Academy Award-nominated actor Woody Harrelson who director Andy Serkis says “is exceptional in everything he does.”

Kasady – a killer even before gaining Carnage’s powers – doesn’t feel Eddie’s need to try to restrain the symbiote. To stop Carnage, Eddie and Venom will have to find a way to make their relationship work.

“Cletus is twisted, devious, manipulative, and damaged as anything, but in Woody’s portrayal, you can’t help but love him,” says Serkis. “He could have been just quips and arch, but Woody sits him on a tightrope – a child in one moment, and a deep, dark killer in the next, a real vulnerability underneath it all.”

“He’s a psychotic killer,” says Harrelson. “He had a nasty upbringing, and now feels compelled to take revenge on the people he felt were responsible for the state he was in.”

Which means there’s a method of sorts to Cletus’ madness, a driving force that makes him so dangerous. “Even before he meets Eddie, Cletus has a sense that Eddie is going to be a friend – a lifeline, a guy who believes in him,” says Harrelson. Of course, the feeling is all in the mind of the deranged murderer – and when he finds Eddie might not be the friend he’s looking for, Eddie (and Venom) will be on a collision course with Cletus (and Carnage).

“Woody is one of the coolest people I have ever met,” says Tom Hardy. “As a human being and as an actor, he is just formidable. There is nothing that you can present him with that will shock him; he has an answer, a solution to everything and he has a story to tell. As an artist, he is just wonderful, with such a brilliant, talented playful creative mind, that it’s an absolute joy to work with him.”

Venom: Let There Be Carnage opens in PH theaters on December 8. Distributed by Columbia Pictures Philippines. Watch the latest trailer here:

THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI movie review

Just as I am writing this I realized that this movie title has lots of repeated letters in it. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is not your typical comedy-drama movie.
In an unresolved murder of her daughter, Mildred (Frances McDormand) to rent three billboards that caught national attention that also put the local police station to struggle. The beginning went very interesting when the billboards were put out. In this case, if you work as an advertising supplier, you don't really think what message will be delivered as long as you easily earn big bucks.
Being dubbed as the "bad girl" in the community, Mildred didn't stop in pursuing justice for her daughter. The irony that the person seeking justice was not given fair justice and her anger is felt every scene that you will be more attentive on why's and how's. You will hate her and pity her and you'll give better understanding of her feelings and what she's going through.

Given all the drama and violence, there are also scenes that you will be laughing at your seat. Her unlikely and unexpected relationships, and turn of events for people of power. There's also an issue of discrimination, not for her but for the people in the community.

Officer Dixon's (Sam Rockwell) home is also a funny place in the movie where a person in uniform bends over his dauntless mom. But in spite of a very stubborn officer, he thinks he can manage Mildred but he's wrong. He also has no means and power but amazingly redeems himself towards the end of the story.
I was broken hearted when Chief Willoughby (Woody Harrelson) has taken his life but at least he also saved himself from the negative perception of Mildred and community. He made poor choices but his letters after dying are very heartfelt.

From 20th Century Fox, “THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI” opens February 14 only in the following cinemas – Eastwood, Shangri-la Mass, Century City Mall, Commerce Mall, Festival Mall, Fisher Mall, Gateway Mall, Fora in Tagaytay and at Vista Cinemas: Evia, Las Pinas, Sta. Rosa, Bataan, Pampanga and Daang Hari.

Tadaa! NYSM2 trailer is out and here's what I think of it

Finally the magical trailer of Now You See Me has been posted online and NYSM fans could be reacting happy or sad with the new movie. Here are my takes on the new trailer:
  1. At least majority of the Four Horsemen are still present. Isla Fisher of course cannot join Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Wilder (Dave Franco) and McKinney (Woody Harrelson) in their magical stunts. We wish you well, Henley Reeves.
  2. Jesse Eisenberg cuts hair. When we expected Lex Luthor to be bald in Batman v Superman, he comes clean in this sequel. Well, almost bald.
  3. Lizzy Caplan playing Lula could have better acts than Reeves. I still like the bubbles act from the first movie though. But still this is just the trailer, there could be more magic to anticipate when we see the first movie.
  4. A great team should have an epic squad photo like this one.
  5. The most awaited arrival of a true-blood wizard, Harry Potter! errmm.. Daniel Radcliffe finally joins the cast as Walter but he has some magic boo-boos. Still a magical name, right Disney?
  6. There'll be more street and spectacular magic and I can't wait.
Well in case you want to see the whole trailer, here it is. Returning in the movie are Mark Ruffallo as Dylan Rhodes; Michael Caine as the billionaire show producer Arthur Kressler, And joining in are Sanaa Lathan, Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Jay Chou. Now You See Me 2 opens in theaters June 2016.

Next summer, they’re back. Witness the all-new NOW YOU SEE ME 2 teaser trailer - Appearing in theaters 2016! #NYSM2

I wonder if they will be pro for the 4 Horsemen or enemies? Daniel plays Walter, Jay Chou plays Li. Plot is still unavailable this time.

Now You See Me 2 is a magic crime fiction featuring Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine, Jesse Eisenberg. IMDB did not say that Isla Fisher will be there. Coming to theaters, 2016.
